this is really really good, while the plot is very political and I'm not always a fan of political, the cast is amazing which makes me want to keep watching. I am excited to see how the story progresses.
I'm actually quite shocked at all the people who hate this drama, I actually loved it a lot. In the end, they teach us that, after all, your mom was also once a little girl with passions and dreams. In the end she gave up those dreams to love you and build a life for you. The scene in previous eps where the Mom came back to her old house and cried for her mother really touched me, in her vulnerable moments she cried for her mother who was no longer with her, and whose house she left at a young young age to go to an unfamiliar scary place like shanghai. I cried a lot during the opera stage, Huan was witnessing her mother relive her childhood and unfulfilled passions, which was so so heartbreaking, bittersweet, but extremely touching. As a mother-daughter story with a side of romance, I enjoyed this drama very much. While the mother was annoying at times, and quite nosy in her childrens' lives, I think everyone had major character development. Their mother learned to live her own life in the end, and love her children from a distance. And her children in turn learned to love their mother even more, because in reality she sacrificed the most for them. The only storyline I hated was the Zhiming father coming back plot, it was wildly unnessecary, esp if they were just gonna kill him off in the end. But I guess his father's story was important because he served as a major player in getting that evil woman arrested. While a little more romance may have been good, I was pretty satisfied with the amount they gave us, the haters to lovers development was perfect, and we got quite a big amount of their romance in the first half, which I loved. Big kudos to ZhiMing because the whole drama he had to deal with huan's family drama, which was a whole bunch. At least we know from that that he truly loves her, because tbh idk if I could put up with all of that. This drama for me is comparable to the kdrama Live Your Own Life, but I enjoy this cdrama a lot more because they do the family bonding genre very well, and the drama in LYOL is just way too crazy, not to mention the mother in LYOL is way worse than the mother in this drama (LIKE WAYYY WORSE), which I think is another reason I was able to tolerate the mom here. Overall, I would really recommend this drama if you enjoy family-dramas and slice of life! For haters to lovers enjoyers this is also a great watch, just the romance becomes very minimal in the last 11 eps, and more focus is on the family.
Can you list out some? (I'm not trying to make fun of you; I'm geniunely asking)
loll wait youre right , the telecoms were smashed... yeah the plot lost substance mid-way, they could have done so many interesting things with the main premise
i personally loved it a lot. I think it depends on your taste. This is a very slice-of-life little moments kind of plot approach on a trope like the end-of-the-world. If that sounds like it might be your cup of tea, I highly recommend it. It's very slow, but realistic, shows a glimpse into the real world in times of tragedy; a lot of focus on healing, acceptance, friendship, love, identity, issues with religion and one's faith in these trying times. It was all very lovely to watch. I love slice-of-life so I actually finished this drama in one full sitting

ofc, well for starters the bathroom situation made no sense because 1) the waste bags were bought using the community chute outside with minutes, and 2) poop isn't something they "bought" in their rooms, so in that sense the waste bags COULD have been brought outside. They couldve dumped them all in one corner of the empty pool. Some people also suggested using the outside community time to buy full-on public bathroom stalls, which I also think is a great idea, but they might not wanna be shitting in the common area, which is why the bag and pool system seems better to me.
Second, for the food situation, instead of relying on number 8, they could have, with #7's financial assistance, started a community garden of sorts, in #7's room. Like spending money on small fruit plants, live animals, like chickens or a fish tank, and then some butchering tools, and an electric stove. If 8 was ever a bitch to them, and tried depriving them of food, they can easily cook their own, problem solved. They can also do this using community time, but it might use up a lot of community time, so idk if it's ideal. It would probably be depending on how much time they have and whatever seems best for what they have.
Next, which they should have done from the BEGINNING. Making number 8's room the main common/eating room. Number 8 only let the power get to her when she saw how the chaos unraveled around her but she remained virtually unaffected. If they kept her room as the common eating room from the beginning, it would have, at least maybe temporarily, created a state of "equality" almost. Also would have prevented the entire food inequality fight. But there is, of course, always the cooking alternative which they 100% should have taken.
And one of my last suggestions would have been that the money should be treated, at least for the duration that they're in the game, as everyone's money, because they are all working together for time, and creating survival strategies. Thus, the individuals with higher pay should have a bigger financial responsibility. Their rooms should hold items that everyone can use, such as the bathtub, maybe medical supplies, etc. But of course this might only be wishful thinking, because I don't think floor 6 or 8 would've agreed to this system.
Another thought I just had is since number 1 was able to increase the time so effortlessly with a simple circus trick (the balloon with the confetti and mime performance), they should have allowed number 1 to continue doing his circus performances as he pleases, because not only are those non-violent and increase the time by a lot, but it's something he loves doing and can easily do (ex: the tightrope performance that he somehow managed to set-up, idek how he did that, but it means its 100% possible). Since he does earn the lowest amount of money, number 1 should have the decision over how long they should stay in the game, and I think this is a nice and less-worrisome way, where he doesn't have to depend on anyone else really, to get the time up. I assume he will buy his circus performance supplies through the community time, but he might also have to rely on others' money (like if he needs #7's money, and he sets up the trick in #7's room), and that might make this a bit tricky.
And finally, another very far-fetched idea, but if they put their heads together and found a way to send secret messages (maybe written ones, or finding a corner without CCTV), they could have created a fake-fight system. Like, since the game organizers enjoy violence, they could've put on a fake show for them, fighting each other for random reasons. This would increase the time easily, and they can keep this going until they have enough time to just sit around and get their money without worrying about the timer. Number 4 had a really nice idea of a dating show, I think that was a really nice idea but they didn't wanna listen to her. I think it could have got them a lot of points actually.
i think they were saying they’d all go up to use the restroom at her place 😭that part rlly didn’t make…
yeah... ngl it pissed me off cus if they just pooled their money together and assigned diff duties to each person (like the person with a higher income bears bigger financial responsibility), they could've spent a nice time together in a nice community. too bad they were greedy af
tbh i think i could write a thesis on things they could’ve done differently cus they took the amateur approach on pretty much everything. their bathroom, food, and community system couldve all been significantly improved if they actually sat down and thought for workarounds
Am watching ep 4, confused about the toilet voting, since people cant bring trash up the chute, does voting for…
i think they were saying they’d all go up to use the restroom at her place 😭that part rlly didn’t make sense to me actually
also i thought of a rlly interesting workaround for the food thing, they could’ve used their money to buy live animals (like a live chicken, small pig, or a fish tank) and plants (like a tomato plant or a small apple tree), and then cooking utensils + electric stove to cook together. too bad they were too panicked to actually put their heads together and think
8 is disgusting please tell me she gets her just desserts by the series end. I'm at ep4 rn and R-6 and 8 are making…
personally i didn’t feel like she got enough punishment. she was actually cuckoo, she tortured them with sleep deprivation tactics while she f*lt herself to gain pleasure… like that was so fucked up im sorry she deserved to die a painful death instead of #1
