If you noticed, XD had always pretended to be polite & respectful to the Emperor until his relationship with BYL was discovered by the Emperor, before that he keep up with the act. He totally dropped his act in front of the Emperor only after he was imprisoned by him.
As for the Empress, he also kept his facade until the Empress lost her power, as BYL also disrespected her after she became a consort because she’s above the ex-empress. She wasn’t Empress anymore, just dowager which is widowed-empress. Besides, XD knew all her secrets and he threatned her with it. She had much more dirtier secrets than XD being a fake eunuch & having relationship with BYL. He knew she can do nothing against him because he’s much more powerful than she is. The emperor also trusted him more than the dowager empress. The ‘Empress’ is just a fallen ex-empress from previous King who has even lower position than BYL so it’s not shocking at all.

I was scared of him because he’s unpredictable with his action, despite his weak facade. When Bu Yulu said he’s a coward and weak when he’s has no power but out of control when he’s in power, I agreed with him. I cursed MG so much throughout the show, that’s how good he is, I’m impressed!

Even from UL I noticed Chen Yuqi is such a good crier, she can cry naturally, she’s good at emotional scenes. I’m gonna watch this movie, thanks for the recommendation!

This is such a huge achievement tho, this is A-level investment drama at that! Getting that score for douban is quite good tho, many top S+ dramas suffered below 5 rate there. Good for WHD, he has a big potential as a young actor, XD has more layers. Good that his followed up drama after LBFAD is also doing very well like this.
I’m happy for CYQ too, I like her performance so much on UL. I hope she knows what kind of character suits her the best after this. She shines so much as BYL, towards the ending of UL I’m impressed with her performance I must say. I hope she will do better in her next drama.
I wish for the best for my fav Xiao Duo & Bu Yinlou next dramas, WHD & CYQ. I will watch their office drama Never Give Up when it’s out.

If someone so scary like XD (at the beginning) started doing this to you, you won’t be suspecting either lol plus he’s an eunuch to her but she did insist he’s interested in her after that even tho her maid kept denying her doubt, saying she’s being delusional etc the FL is smart, at least she realized faster than the others, earlier than Eunuch Cao in fact.

If you have been watching many imperial chinese dramas or movies, you will know some of the head eunuch are very influential and powerful in political affairs etc some of them are legit controlling the Emperor.

I watched the cuts duh but even without that their chemistry is hot imo because both of them are not the type to be all shy innocent when it comes to flirting etc

yes Peter did so amazing as psycho that I keep cursing him till the end. I repeated the scene BYL slapped him many times before I moved on to next scene because it was that satisfying to watch. There’s also scene when BYL pointed finger at him & called him ‘paranoid & arrogant’ in front of everyone during the rebellion, that’s also so satisfying to watch.

I think the romance started around ep3-4, because I watched while it’s airing so I don’t really remember the exact when it started but from the start of their meeting, there’s already spark there imo. He fall in love first on ep3-4. At first they’re just using e/o, FL was even scared of him lol so she always tried to coax him but it came off as flirting to me😂
Love triangles hmm just between them & emperor/ex empress. Because both royal people are too obsessed. Not like XD-BYL like them back anyway. They both clearly rejected them but of course the royals won’t care about it. Overall I’m satisfied with the romance.

true! it’s hard to see this kind of FL like BYL. I really like how savage she is and she can simply outsmart people with her wits. She can just use her brain to get away from troubles. Her and XD are super smart, like it’s amazing to see how their brains worked together. No one can deceive them. They have awesome chemistry together! No one can convince me otherwise. BYL is already among top3 of my fav FL in cdrama.

yea true we don’t even want to see MGG on last eps anyway but I think it’s pretty meaningful that last shot of them was them running away from Imperial Palace. I want more of them of course, but that’s a good last shot.

SPOILER IT’S A HAPPY ENDING but yea I’m quite annoyed that Murong GG got so much screentime on last 4eps. And I wish he dies when he collapsed on the floor fr. He didn’t deserve to lead the country. Judging how Yu Zun also betrayed him, I will just imagine YZ gonna be supporting Hede as the new Emperor. I know YZ will be a great help in the end. A true silent hero lol he saved our CP twice!😭
I think all of them Zhaoding Bureau fam will manage to escape with XD-BYL.

I’m happy that XD-BYL my love managed to escape the Imperial City but I think their scenes together were too little on last eps😭 but thank you for the happy ending tho, plus I saw the extended ending on weibo. Them on pink flower field again😌
