It wasn't that emotional that would make u cry but still a very sad movie. I don't know how to feel about the ending, i found the father somewhat selfish? Kindhearted but selfish, everyone in this movie had an ulterior motive in helping others so this dint make me emotional but it was realistic, that's how people really are. Not good as Ozu san's other movies ,some scenes were really nice so i recommend this.
I liked the Friendship arc in this movie, the unlikely friendship between alcoholic but honest doctor n a local thug who is dying,it was enjoyable n catchy at first then it got unnecessarily dramatic n very boring after the arrival of Okada.Disappointing
Went in without any idea about the plot n surprisingly it was a really good n tragic movie. Very different from other romance movies at that time. I wish Kisuke was a little sensible person. Even if i hate rapists the rapist in this movie was worst kind, poor Tamae just wanted a little help n he couldn't even do that.
Even if someone is like me who doesn't like to watch documentaries much, one will find this really fascinating n entertaining.Kenzo is a man of justice n nothing stops him,he is daring n wants to know the truth even after so many years. He is a violent fellow ,i actually felt bad n awkward when the fight occured between old men n everything went back to normal like nothing happened, only if u were in North India dude . Japanese really are pleasant n peaceful people regardless of their creepiness sometimes.
I loved Ryohei's character in this movie as a kid n as an adult,he was a sweet, mature n silent child who loved n blindly followed his father ,his silent cries n accepting whatever his father says without a fuss ,it also made me feel sad for him.We don't see such relationship n dependence between parents n child today that's why I love Yasujiro Ozu's movies as they are simple n easy to connect with.
On the other hand ,i only have one complaint or doubt i understand why the father quit his job as a teacher but I don't get why did he kept neglecting his child, although he did love him he never showed him where it was obvious how much Ryohei wants to be with him,he could have found a job anywhere.Maybe Ozu wants to show the audience how great, high valued n strick the father is who sticks to his principles?
Slow, comfortable, dull , low budget movie with simple plot where not a lot is happening .
The two main characters who dont know each other come together when their common friend doesn't show up for a trip. I personally enjoyed the movie bcz of how these two established their bond n cooperated throughout their journey n met several people n random events.
It doesn't have any comedy that makes u roll on the floor but its still awkwardly humorous n amusing.Good acting.
Very hard to rate it for me. Seeing the director n actors like Sakura, Eita i was expecting a lot from this long…
I think i would have loved the movie had i known it was a gay themed movie n without any big names.Although it was always hinted that the theme was going to be like this, eg.,that head caressing scene n yori's father calling him monster ,it was unclear in first half n i thought it would be humanistic insightful movie like other movies of director. I love BLs n LGBTQ but i am not that romantic that I'd romanticize everything.Maybe director should've focused on one thing. It was like watching two movies, i dont like plot shifts very much.
Very hard to rate it for me. Seeing the director n actors like Sakura, Eita i was expecting a lot from this long awaited movie , though am not disappointed the movie is not what i thought it would be . The main show stealers were both talented n beautiful child actors, Sakura n Eita's roles seemed to be wasted.
Plotwise i was unprepared which was surprising knowing what kind of movies director makes.Transitions between the scenes ,layer upon layer revelation n the unexpected turn of events all of which were cleverly executed.
But I was expecting a slice of life n depth which were not there, even the social commentary was very weak. It does have little depth n beautiful scenes n good music but this movie can't reach everyone. The plot was messy n exclusive, there was so much wasted potential.
Directed by German Director: Wim Wenders. Nostalgic, minimalistic n slow paced movie about a humble, positive ,diligent n honest toilet cleaner with a vast interest in books, nature n music. I liked the tiny details n blue hue added to the somber n sad tone of the plot. This movie is very much character driven so Koji San was the perfect actor to play the role but honestly compared to how much I waited for it ,this movie wasn't that amazing as i thought it would be so Koji San is the winner here ,this movie depended on him more than the plot itself.Still i liked it bcz we get to watch movies like this only once in a while n i hope they keep making them.
I came for Ryuhei but his acting dint suit the character,i started manga after this n the character needed expressions , something Ryuhei has never been good at despite being a good actor.
I stayed for the plot ,it was so refreshing n fun. Mangaka really did a good job n worked hard to draw this.
Nanase Nishino was great with her sarcastic inner monologues n expressions.
My second movie by Gosha Hideo after Three Outlaw Samurai. I feel bad to say that both of the movies were disappointing. Maybe i am discovering his Samurai movies after having watched all the best ones . Still, the characters in both the stories are shallow, i watched it only bcz of my actor Nakadai otherwise there was nothing new n gripping about this movie and the plot except pretty cinematography. P. S. What's wrong with Yoko's teeth really.
I don't feel bad for peasant or any of the character n one of the peasant sold his daughter off, that time was like that, poverty can drive u to do anything in order to survive , thats why i dint connect to characters, acting felt a bit superficial especially by the actor played Kikyo, the execution itself was scattered n messy. Overall plot was good ,i love most of the Samurai movies but this wasn't one of them.
Another Troubleman kind of movie by Sabu, though the themes in all of his movies are very similar with a loser, unlucky n weak MC they are still so much fun with different n unique plot .Some scenes were really hilarious, good acting ofcourse.
