You summarized quite well. I do like some of the ending parts where she completely accepts and acknowledges her feelings and desire to continue through that relationship with GTY. As I said, her entire life is a contrast to her mother's.

The dramas you mentioned fails to do the same as well. Actually, those shows fail to realistically portray intelligence through practical sense. Its more of the villains are dumbed down to elevate the main characters projecting not much challenge. Character consistency does not imply any resistant to weakness or mistakes. So I guess there's quite differences. Cheers.

1) If I remember this was earlier in their marriage where she did not believe she loved him not wanted to get in his way of having more open intimate life. All her opinions about men are through her own mother, including having multiple partners. She thought in return for his safety to her through the marriage he needed something from intimate standpoint which I believe she thought would be more providing through a concubine. You should not ignore the fact that even being smart she was still very young having lived only for survival throughout her life. Although I did not like him taking in a concubine but I can see her viewpoint.
2) I dont think you can have more precautions for that. Yes, she was aware of her MIL being unkind and dramatic towards her, but most of her 'evilness' was a perspective towards audience. What she knew of her was her relation with GTY and whatever melodrama she did in front of her. Her MIL being a psycho is a far-fetched expectation when her focus on herself + distraction through the rumour of GTY being hurt were flooding through the manor. You are expecting perfection from a character because she is smart? I don't think that's possible here and that makes her more realistic.
This scene is parallel to her own mother's birth-giving where her mother was helpless as her father never cared not had helped her in any manner. Meanwhile, she received assurance that she does have a partner who is will be supporting and fulfulling his promise to keep her safe. Might be an dramatic way to do it but works.
The cliche would be her being able to solve her problems, predicting all possible moves of her adversaries. I would have hated it since I do like seeing flaws in people and how that defines them, just like GTY had couple in the beginning. The only difference is we observe it late for her. I'm glad that Minglan had flaws that will just add to her character and eventual growth in future.
As for rebellion plot, it was only possible after his arrest for murder case which I don't think they had expected but it did somehow work in their favour. Since his arrest that was barely any simpler way for her to make aware without getting spied on. Neither in the prison not in the manor... The only way for her to know was through those who are involved, which is finally bring us to the empress.
1- Is there a happy ending?2- Is there a love triangle / second lead syndrome?3- When do the ML and FL kiss?4-…
1. Yes 2. Nope 3. It takes some time but they get married very early like ep 6 if I can remember. They go from irritating each other -> married couples -> friends -> lovers. 4. No breakup. No misunderstandings.. A tactical separation for 2-3 eps to hide from potential enemies.
can u convince me to watch it, I’m unsure if I should
Political revenge thriller drama with no romance, no fillers/beauty filters/cgi. Aesthetic sets, beautiful cinematography and stellar ensemble. There's no reason to not give it a try.
