Political revenge thriller drama with no romance, no fillers/beauty filters/cgi. Aesthetic sets, beautiful cinematography and stellar ensemble. There's no reason to not give it a try.

Not really especially when you consider the problems she had earlier including miscommunication. The ML said he would explain about text if they can just sit and talk but she was not ready. She's got a bit ahead of herself especially considering the fact the ML has no moral obligation to her in any sort of commitment. She def has every right to react in that way but avoiding the necessary talk and not heeding to what he might have gone through is a bit stretch especially all this time he's been going through her but one time when there's a moment she can do that exact thing before they official get together would have been actual growth for her. Moreover, the situation had so many variables including the weather so it's not a everyday situation that someone just forgot to call. She is neither her boyfriend/husband or anything at this certain point, so she can't demand that exclusivity especially when you have been riding the wave without a commitment. I'm still expecting her to rethink based on how the cousin reminded her, hopefully that finally develops her a bit maturely as well.

He favors the concubine's daughter because he's getting cheesed by her and naturally would favor her. All that left is now Ming Lan and her mother, who would have to face whatever is thrown at them. Her father is a politician, greedy and only cares about status and power.

I did look into those but couldn't take LLTG seriously; as for DoS the plot seems pretty same as what I've been observing nowadays, so might give a pass. Romance is fine but they usually this trope ruins a lot of plotline especially the character archetype. In short, they deviate from their base templates which is a deal breaker for me. In short, as long as romance does not hinder the progression it's a welcoming aspect.

For similar production level, I would recommend Story of Ming Lan, Joy of Life, Longest Day in Chang'an
