I agree! Her portrayal of this type of character is so refreshing and unique. I'm not sure why people are saying this is a typical xianxia and there is nothing original...I feel the exact opposite.

I actually think it's quite an original plot. I rarely see cdramas with the following:

1) FL falls first and chases the ML.
2) FL is on the dark / "bad" side, while ML is on the "good" side.

I'm talking about the FL and ML story, not any supporting cast. If I'm wrong that this isn't original, then please name the cdramas bc I can't find any with these tropes.

Dreamy sigh. This cdrama has all my fav tropes:
- Powerful, smart female lead
- Girl falls first and chases boy
- Enemies to lovers
- Reincarnation and fated love
- Time travel

I love Bai Lu and I think the plot is very interesting. The only thing that bothers me is the BGM and OST used in certain scenes that feel rather jarring to me. For example, when Fan Yue and Bai Shuo first meet in the Unbridled Pavilion in Ep 1, the BGM made me giggle instead of feeling awe at his entrance (i.e., his entrance felt cheesy instead of cool). Also, at end of Ep 2 when he's trying to persuade her to travel with him to find the Five Contemplations, it should be a tense moment with some intense music, but instead, one of the romantic OSTs randomly start playing in the background. Am I the only one who is thrown off by the BGM and OST usage?

P.S. Don't get me wrong, the OSTs themselves are very beautiful and sung by famous singers. It's only the placement in certain scenes that throw me off lol.

Me too. So glad I'm meeting him for the first time in this cdrama. I looked at his past works and I think Bloody Romance was a popular cdrama that I had previously debated watching. Do y'all recommend it?

Yaaaasss I fully agree. I'm really glad the two of them don't have any misunderstanding tropes, and that he won't sacrifice her to save the world. I love ML's gray areas hehehe

You should give her one more chance. Watch her in My Journey to You. She plays a serious, mature assassin there, so her voice is different in that drama.
