Awww, I'm sad you didn't fall in love with LR! But thank you for watching it! SOKP remains my #1 Asian drama, while LR is a very close #2. I agree that the spice level isn't high enough, but to me, the love story is equally intense and epic even without the spice. I actually liked the memory wipes bc it made sense that any small change to the past affected the future.
P.S. In the BTS for Ep 8, Sunjae actually kissed Sol aggressively hahaha, but the director said to re-do it and make it romantic. Oh well! Would've loved to see the aggressive one that I'm sure could be similar to our SOKP cave one haha!

It's finishing next week (Mon/Tue), so you can go ahead and start watching it!! Even without seeing the ending yet, it's already my #1 all-time fav kdrama ever. Story of Kunning Palace is my #1 all-time fav cdrama, so that's why I say it rivals SOKP. Similarly to SOKP, the FL lead in LR has another chance to relive her youth in order to save a guy's life (ML had died in present timeline) and to change her own fate. Where it differs from SOKP is that LR is a romcom at heart, so it's not as dark as SOKP and the ML is the greenest flag ever. Still, their love story is just as intense, delicious and unwavering as Xie Wei's love for Jiang Xuening.

Watching LYF just for Xiang Liu alone is worth it, esp episodes 21 onwards after FL reclaims her princess status. LYF is the first cdrama that captivated me so intensely that I actually searched for the novel and read it. So hauntingly good!

Hehe cdramas may appear long but actually they're not that long. Each ep is generally 40 min and modern genre cdramas are generally 24 ep, so it's equal to kdramas' 16 eps (both are a total of 960 min long). And now that they're required to limit cdramas to 40 eps per season, you generally don't have to worry about watching more than 40 eps (equal to about 26 eps in kdrama length). Funny enough, I actually find myself wanting more than 40 eps and get annoyed with this limitation lol.

Wow I'm the exact same way -- loved kdramas but I was rarely interested in kdramas between 2020 - 2023 timeframe too. I used to watch 90% kdramas and 10% cdramas. But since 2020 I switched over to 90% cdramas and 10% kdramas. The only kdramas that actually caught my interest during that 4-year period was True Beauty, Our Beloved Summer, A Business Proposal and Alchemy of Souls. So I'm really happy to finally find this new kdrama (Lovely Runner) that has captured my heart so dearly. As a matter of fact, as of right now, Lovely Runner is ranked #1 in my all-time kdrama favs. Returning into kdrama world is like returning home and reminiscing on the good ol days. Sigh. Hehe.
