Oh haha! Thank you! The only "brushing" I remember is XY using a brush to clean the ginger, plus cleaning SL's feet (and tickling her)! I also absolutely love the next part where she pecks him bc he's too darn handsome!! π€£π€£π€£

I don't know why I can't recall him brushing his teeth! Maybe I just got used to all the fun modern habits mentioned in this thread that it didn't stand out to me lol. Which episode?!
But ep 39..Last EP was Useless ππ No offense but what's with that couple and their sudden story? the guy…
I understand why you didn't like it, but for me it was like a bonus chapter/epilogue showing a slice of happy life. Most dramas would end as soon as the main leads saw each other again (i.e., not even run and hug like they did), so I'm happy with how they did Ep 39. Also, I thought it was very sweet that they helped matchmake for Lady Jin, esp since she is the one who also helped matchmake for them!

And just to clarify, I did read the ShenLi novel, but it's only the 3rd one ever, so my comment on the novel length is from other MDL folks' comments, which is why I said I could be wrong since I haven't read enough Chinese novels to determine this myself.
I just finished this drama. The final episode surprised me with its unusual route π It felt like one of those…
I could be wrong, but I think this might be bc the source material (novel) is actually quite short compared to other novels? So really they could've made this drama into 24-32 episodes instead of 39. It would've been a lot more fast paced, which is what you were looking for. As for me, I actually loved the slow pace & slow burn, it matched the ML's personality and all the sweet mortal realm moments. I also loved all the added comedy and new scenes that were not present in the novel. So I give this drama adaptation a 10 bc I liked all the additions. But I can understand why you might prefer a version that would follow novel closely (and therefore have the more fast paced plot).
guys when did u start to get super into this show? bc I'm on ep11 rn and the reviews for this show are insanely…
I loved the drama from Ep 1, but I was def very obsessed by end of Ep 13. XZ finally showed signs of jealousy in Ep 13, especially since he usually only teased SL but didn't show any other emotions toward her. His jealousy was noticeable enough that even SL confronted him about it in Ep 14. πππ
Can anyone recommend any other costume cdramas that have an epic love story with lots of LOL comedic moments? I wanna swoon, ugly cry, and belly laugh again like I did in ShenLi! Prolly unlikely, with how unique and special ShenLi is!
NOT READY TO SAY GOODBYE! How am I gonna focus on work with 6 eps - you betcha I will skim through and spoil myself…
Haha I also refused to spoil the ending for myself, so I only read up to Ch 70. I wanted the ending to be a surprise through watching the drama. Will finish reading the remaining chapters after devouring Eps 33-39!! Can't wait!!
Haha it wasn't a perfect representation of what truly happened in the novel, since in the novel FL was actually very aggressive, passionate and determined hehe. But given censorship, I was happy with what was depicted -- def better than what I expected since I expected a fluffy, fade out scene similar to end of Ep 30 to be all we would get.
This has EVERYTHING.One of the best FL (she's very strong, smart, respectable but also cute and adorable)One of…
100% agree! I think the only other drama where I was super impressed with their usage of BGMs was Love Like the Galaxy. The scenes and BGMs flowed so seamlessly together in that drama.
