that intro is HORRENDOUS. ethnical and environmental aspects aside, using ai just makes the show look cheap from…
how do you know it’s ai? i’m genuinely curious, because i didn’t notice it at all until someone else mentioned it in the comments earlier, and now you have too 😭
The age gap in the novel is four years. Cheng Yichen is academically gifted and attends the same school as Lu…
yeah, you’re totally right, the contrast between their appearances definitely adds to the discomfort. i guess some people enjoy that feeling a lot more than i ever will 😭 it’s just a bit too much for me, even though i generally like darker themes and morally grey characters.
He looks exactly like how he was portrayed in the novel
yeah, i totally understand that this is how he’s supposed to look according to the novel. i have my own thoughts about it, but i don’t want to start a war with anyone, so i’ll just keep them to myself. it does make me feel uncomfortable, though.
i get that this story is meant to be dark, and i’m actually glad to see bls exploring darker, more toxic, and bolder themes. however, i find it really difficult to watch a very mature-looking man push a childlike-looking man against the bed and essentially force himself on him. that’s just a bit too much for me.
absolutely no hate to anyone who enjoys it, but it does make me wonder why the author chose to portray the characters this way. i understand what they were going for, but personally, it’s not something i can look past.

i haven’t read the novel so I wasn’t aware of this. thanks!
however, when adapting something into a tv show they usually make some changes. if i were the director i’d definitely reconsider this.
my issue isn’t that the actor looks youthful (good for him 🙏🏻) but rather the hair and his character’s clothing. it all feels a bit too much together with his already youthful appearance if you understand what i mean. 🥹 it doesn’t help that the other male lead appears so masculine and mature. i really dislike seeing heteronormative features imposed on gay characters.
His youthful appearance doesn't bother me, but his lousy acting sure does.
it’s strange. i saw your comment under another bl called the lie we lived in and you were harshly criticising the young appearance of the main lead… why doesn’t it bother you here?
i can’t be the only one concerned that Yichen literally looks like a child. 💀 they should have casted someone more mature looking in my opinion…
this, coupled with the portrayal of such a toxic non-consensual relationship, is just too much for me. i love chinese bls and don’t mind some toxicity or flawed characters but this is simply too much…
Lu Yuxiao is absolutely stunning! 😍 her features are incredibly natural and unlike the plastic doll look of many other actresses. plus she’s a fantastic actress. she completely immerses herself in her characters no matter the role. 👏🏻❤️
That's where you leave us? Bombshell already dropped at the end of episode 2. Then cliffhanger. Good thing I'm…
“good thing i’m used to waiting” 🤣🤣 having watched asian dramas for 6 years now, i feel you 😭 it’s such a pain in the ass waiting weeks for a drama to finish airing but oh well, it’s so rewarding in the end 😩
thanks for your answer~ 🫶🏻

thanks for the explanation btw! i appreciate it🥰

feel free to disagree though.
