It annoys me that they used the same actors for the flashbacks. The parents are supposed to be in their 20s or 30s, but they look old as hell, and it totally pulls me out of it. 😫
I kind of have a thing for the Prince of Zhennan. 😠Like, yeah, he’s the villain (so far), but I just feel bad for him, and I can’t help but root for him and the Princess. He’s also insanely beautiful!
I know I’m probably going to be disappointed in the end, though.
"Don't worry. With me by your side , I will stand with you to turn all your past enemies, those who keep you awake at night, those you hate to the core, into nothing but bones beneath our feet. "
There’s a lot to unpack here, but I’m too lazy to go too deep. I really liked the chemistry between the main leads and how their relationship developed. My favorite part was probably after Jinan lost his memories and captured Li Shuang. Cheng Lei was amazing as both Jinan and Prince Annan, but I think I prefer him in Prince Annan type roles. He’s just so good at being serious and regal. I can never fully take female leads as generals seriously 😠but I’m just going to ignore that. The actress is good at acting, so whatever.
I did not really like the ending. On paper, it is perfect, but for some reason it just did not work for me. I am not a big fan of main leads abandoning their old lives and just frolicking around all lovey dovey. But hey, at least they are alive.
Seeing newatchers rating it 8 /7 and saying its not a masterpiece or had flaws really don't know anything at all…
I don't necessarily think it's the story that people find lacking. When you look at the drama as a whole, it simply is not perfect. The acting of some supporting characters could have been stronger, and the CGI could have been better as well. The dog in the Wen dungeons and some of the other monsters are clear examples. When you compare it to the high budget dramas from 2024 and 2025, the difference in production quality becomes very noticeable.
Even I, who absolutely loved it, initially rated it a 9 and only later changed my rating to a 10, even though I always believed the story itself was perfect.
None of this means the drama is not good or that people do not enjoy it. A few years have passed, newer dramas may look more polished, and viewers have different standards when it comes to rating. The fact that it has maintained an average rating of 9 shows that most new viewers still think very highly of it.
I don't want to contradict you just to contradict you btw, I completely agree about the bromance and their chemistry, just wanted to add another point of view. People who think the story and the characters are what makes the drama good will know how to appreciated TU.
Honestly the story is ok but I think it's definitely the actors that make it more interesting. Ji chang wook is…
Yeah, I agree! I've been a fan of JCW for years and he NEVER disappoints, you can always count on him to deliver. Kyungsoo is also very good. His portrayal of the unhinged psychopat was spot on!
As for stabbing and cutting. They could've made him recover for a few days just once! 😠Or they could've choreographed fights so he doesn't get stabbed 20 times .... 😂
The action and acting were good, but the story started to feel a bit tiring toward the end. The villains were somewhat caricaturish, too, although I did like Kyungsoo’s portrayal, he felt convincingly psychopathic.
Also, the ML getting stabbed and cut so many times yet just walking it off without any real recovery was a bit too obvious/distracting.
Still, the action was really good and if you're looking for that, you won't be disappointed.
I didn’t find any of these characters unlikeable. They were deeply flawed (especially Jira and Koh), but I think that’s actually what I liked most. The sheer dysfunction of their relationship and their opposing perspectives/worldviews made it compelling. The BGM was beautiful and perfectly fitting, and the overall artistic vibe really made the whole project stand out. It felt both very grounded and realistic, AND achingly artsy. After Not Me, it’s my second favourite OffGun work.
omg, try not to! I was so curious cz of the hype that I ended up starting to watch the anime version of it first..…
That's alright. A lot of these dramas have some funny episodes/moments, but I need something angsty and dramatic as well in order to enjoy them. Good to know it'll get darker later on!
I didn’t really like this when I first watched it, but now I’m tempted to watch season 2 just for Pavel. Problem is… I forgot the plot. Also, why did I think Babe was the top when everyone says it’s Charlie?? What show did I watch?? Or is my memory really that bad ðŸ˜ðŸ˜‚
Would you mind elaborate the ending, i'm confused 😕
As you have seen, all of them ended up having miserable lives. But, when Hwan jumped from that platform by the sea he was offered a choice to go back in time and save his friends. He time traveled, and that scene with all of them on the beach is the past he's reliving. In the original story (Save Me webtoon) he gets stuck in a time loop and it takes many attempts before he manages to save all of them.
As for Jaeha in the drama adaptation. I'm not sure what happened to him in the end. What they've shown us is very vague and while there are some similarities with the original story, it's also very different. In the original story Jaeha doesn't find the notebook and like Cein he also commits suicide. In the drama he jumps from the same platform Hwan jumped, but I'm not sure why. Was he jumping for no reason, was he trying to commit suicide (in the original story he jumped from the building) or will he time travel like Hwan, I don't know. The notebook in the original story was written by Hwan's father, not the man whose body was found on the beach, and it was not found by Jaeha. So yeah, I'm not sure what they had in mind when they made those changes.
But in the original story it was implied that Hwan's father also had the ability to time travel but he himself failed to save his friends and later lost his memories (they kept some of that in the drama).
But anyways, what's important is that Hwan went back in time to fix their lives/destinies. I hope it answers some of your questions.
Who was the kid that Aisun killed and hanged along with his wife/the nurse? Why was he crying? It’s not Bom, right? I’m so confused about that detail.
I know I’m probably going to be disappointed in the end, though.
I'm INVESTED. ðŸ¤
