I was watching another drama, got annoyed waiting for new episodes, and decided to watch this one in the meantime while the other one piles up more episodes .... but it’s only been a day since I committed to BR and I’m already on episode 28. LOL.
I can't help it though, it's so good! GJ and CHS are such a great duo, and CHS's character is so charming.
Words can’t even begin to describe how much I hate this ‘new’ poster policy on MDL. Every single change was somehow for the worse, and this one is a peak example.
The only one I’m invested in is A Shui. But I am interested in the whole Yin Yang backstory and arc. I’m way…
Well, that’s fair. I’m not criticizing your rating, I just want to say I have nothing against this drama and no reason to sabotage it in any way. I was talking about which parts of the story I found interesting and which not.

I don' hate any of them, just find their stories (so far) boring.
And what even is this comment? "Not going my way" and "sabotaging"? My rating is higher than yours, I have no desire to sabotage anything related to this drama.

I actually enjoy the Zhou Di Lou flashbacks the most! 😭
Everything related to the Zhong girl just feels painfully boring to me, and the whole group bonding stuff is kinda “whatever.” And Master Puzhu turned out to be such an idiot, he’s just annoying me now. 🤣
Still, the overall story is still interesting and I’m looking forward to seeing where they’re going with it.
Honestly, I’m mainly invested in Tang Lici’s past, the Yique Yinyang arc, and Tang Lici's relationship with LY. I wish I cared about the supporting characters, but I just don’t.
That said, the instrument playing scenes are absolutely badass, and LYX acting is phenomenal! I love how subtle yet unmistakeable his portrayal of emotions is.
I know, right? I feel like I’m too dumb for this drama sometimes, I have to replay scenes a lot just to understand…
Yeah, it can be really confusing. Sometimes I just went with the flow and waited for everything to sort itself out before trying to understand and follow, especially in the last few episodes. 😆
Move your eyes from the screen for a second and you’ll lose track of the plot. 😫
But it was good! I actually started watching it when it first aired, then gave up after two episodes because I wasn’t really in the mood for this genre at the time. Still, it’s Cheng Yi so I had to come back to it eventually. The story is solid, sometimes a bit over the top (like when he literally sees the sniper bullet coming and dodges it, lol), but overall, the plot is engaging and the characters are genuinely interesting.
I see that term thrown around quite a lot, but I never really understood what "idol drama" means? Is it…
I see. I guess I am the target audience, lol. I’m not neccessarily into romance or CP, but I do care a lot about visuals and tend to find most “serious” dramas a bit boring. Still, I just wish him a successful career and hope he doesn’t feel pressured to take on roles he’s not interested in. I’ll just go with the flow and hope I end up liking his future projects.
Xiao Zhan is not an idol actor anymore. His projects are not idol dramas. Going back to them would mean his career…
I see that term thrown around quite a lot, but I never really understood what "idol drama" means? Is it romance? Or like fantasy genres like xianxia? I'm asking genuinely, btw.
Would it be better to watch previous parts before this one or is it mostly unrelated? I've seen some posts about ML's parents and I kinda want to know the 'origin' story but I don't want to waste time if it's not too important.
I really enjoyed this, partly because it’s a genre I love and, of course, because it’s Cheng Yi we’re talking about. There were a few things I didn’t like tho, for example, the way the eight masters gave him their powers felt pretty dumb, and some of the acting looked a bit awkward at times. But overall, I had a great time watching it. And well … a classic Cheng Yi ending, lol.
Can someone tell me what's the reason for this relatively low MDL rating? I don't think this was much worse than some of the well rated dramas on this site.
This falls under that special category of very slow, kinda tragic, kinda heartwarming dramas. I’m not always in the mood for them, but this time it worked out for me. I enjoyed the slow development, and SJK is always such a joy to watch. Both couples were likable.
I genuinely loved this! In the end, he achieved what he wanted, yet the overwhelming bleakness felt perfectly in tune with the story’s tone. How could someone endure and go through so much and remain unfazed? Park Hyung Sik's portrayal was top-notch!

He's so good as young A-Li! The difference in his acting is *cheff's kiss*
I guess I should watch his older dramas too, but I just have no time for everything 😭

All in all, I’d give it an 8.5/10.
Oh, I saw rumours about that one, it looks really interesting. I hope it's true! 👀
Thanks for explaining, btw!
