I honestly have no idea. Some of the dmbj shows take years to air after filming while others are released the same year. Though since this is just a movie, it should air sometime this year or early next year.

He plays a different character. The actor has starred in a couple of daomu biji shows and plays a different role almost every time lol. I think he and Kennedy Xu (author of the novels and producer of some of the shows & this movie) get along well.

I've seen a lot of people watch one of the shows out of order but were still able to enjoy it. Like watching Tomb of the Sea first or even Reunion. I mean even watching Tomb of the Sea after Ultimate Note is probably confusing because there are books that have yet to be adapted that are set in-between that period to explain why Wu Xie became like that.

Anyways, yes they can watch ultimate note without having watch the previous seasons. The same can be said for any of the shows really. Well except for Reunion's season 2 lol

This isn't based on a particular novel. It's just a prequel to the tv show The Mystic Nine. It tells the story of Er Yue Hong and Zhang Qi Shan.

I just meant that it for people who tried watching the lost tomb, aren't enjoying it, and are worried they can't watch the other shows. I don't want them giving up on dmbj lol ;D

Yeah I think so. Lost Tomb 2 recaps some of what you need to know from The Lost Tomb. Also in its recap it changes some information (minor from what I remember but still lol). When I watched Lost Tomb 2 i hadn't even finished the Lost Tomb but was still able to enjoy it

If you want to watch a different adaptation of daomu biji but are starting with The Lost Tomb, you can skip this if you want. It's not worth forcing yourself to watch it, and the next adaptation, The Lost Tomb 2, recaps what you need. So will Ultimate Note

That particular cliffhanger never happened in the novels. So, I can't say what they were planning to do in the show.

The books are about grave robbing in general. They have robbed tombs underground, in water, and in mountains. Really anywhere that can hide a tomb lol. Also, I have not rewatched Lost Tomb 2 in a while so I might get stories confused, sorry!!

I'll just address major differences between the novels and Lost Tomb 2 since there are a lot of differences in general. The novels are darker (it could be classified as a horror genre) and phenomenon are based in the supernatural. Meaning there are ghosts, zombies, and supernatural beings/objects of all kinds.

First, Qiling is over 100 years old and does not have a doppelgänger from the past. That whole plot line with the military was not in the novel.
Second, there was no alternative universe thing going on. In the books, the bronze tree was some kind of magical tree that could grant a person's wish but only from their subconscious. Laoyang lured Wu Xie to the tree so that Wu Xie could subconsciously wish that Laoyang's mother was still alive. It worked and Laoyang lived with his mom at the end of the book. He even sent Wu Xie a letter and a photo with him and his mom. When Wu Xie saw the photo he thought Laoyang's mother "had a demonic ferocity on her pretty face." Honestly, everything involving Laoyang is really different from the novel including the story with his friend.
Third, Qiling, Ning, and Pangzi never joined Wu Xie on his adventure to the bronze tree. It was just Wu Xie, Laoyang, and the guys from the other team.
