Yes watch it. Its nice, soft slow and beautiful FL. the reviews above summarise it well. Its fun just watching ML/FL growing in love. FW the tiger gang scenes. It almost feels realistic - do you easily forget a 10year relationship vs 1month relationship?
No annoying misunderstandings, but they do break up for a few episodes (I thought it was reasonable, but you can…
agree but wish they'd resolved it quicker and just had a few more scenes of them been at home again and doing homely things! Talking things through.
I almost feel like the ending scene when he comes to her should have happened sooner and then they go out and fight the bad guys. Whilst she's in a coma, he is looking after the dad and all the things that concern her. Maybe i watch too many cdramas lol! - so the thai drama missed an obvious trope - ML looking after the FL
Are writers scared that viewers will just lose interest if they play happy families fighting everyone else.?
Every time i rewatch this I get angry at Rin's “family” bc both they and she insist that she’s not a maid…
yeah, i felt like the screen writers forgot or not sure how to handle this. They wanted a mystery at the start. She was 'sold off' to marry a man who lives in a dangerous area. But we love her??!! It would have been better if they'd shown the flashbacks of Rin refusing to go to the outings and wanting to serve out of duty or something.
But it became obvious to me she was a servant with better privileges. They family excluding mum didn't come to the wedding, she had a smaller wedding and no one really checked up on her (letters like a long lost friend). The married sister still bossed her (politely) to do servant work. Dad saying she's my daughter I didn't quite buy it. the fact that when she got angry it was the first time they'd seen that in her. reminds me of Story Of Ming Lan when she was quiet as a mouse to survive.
When their biological daughter was in an obviously bad situation they went to see her and looked after her.
So in conclusion she was a maid with a higher status but still a maid.
I really wish the ending would've been -- after Rin went to coma she came back with no memory of Saran and found…
"....no rape, no abusive ML, and we got a happy ending" This is why I hesitate with Thai dramas. I watched a couple on Netflix and thought yeah I'm taking a break from c, taiwanese and k dramas. Thai dramas have something different.
Then watched one, I just couldn't believe it. I kept checking it did say romantic tv shows? Yes! So whats with this.............I've never missed my chinese tropes so much! So your statement rings truth for a lot of shows nowadays. I check reviews and comments Before I start something. So will watch this although i was looking for time travel.
I can see why it will get a good score. I finished it because of the ML and FL, the chemistry, the playfulness and them in a scene together. Even how she handled the third party and her 2ML. Loved it!
I did fast forward the politics and the long drawn out table conversations about politics or the emperor
FL seems to flaunt a lot of the rules and so far we haven't really seen her bare true consequence especially when exerting her 'new ideas'. The writer have made her seem faultless and have failed to really capture the 'struggle'. The show seems to be focussed on the invasion of the French and sometimes forgets its purpose? Why bill it as a romantic show? I thought it was a dip in the middle but its getting worse. Is this a romantic show? A lot of religion references. I would say it starts of romantic then becomes politics and religion.
The FL is 'allowed to sit at the table' as viewers we haven't really got attached to the ML. So if he is doing his politics w/o her we prob FW or switch off. But she drags out what she knows and who she is. The scenes would have been better if ML and FL spend more time working through their differences as PART2.
Part 1 was him questioning her 'absurdities' and drastic change (i get that). Part 2 we would have wanted more bonding. (I dont know) like the understanding even if its a discussion about the women been possessions - she has 2 mins about talking about the horse [punishment and then it's never talked about. How did she cross over to like a traditional man? You love him how? Modern woman to traditional man. Transition? They chose to fill it up with potential invasions of the bad farang etc. So we delay the wedding (engaged episode 1), I would rather have drawn out scenes of her hesitating on screen, not conversations of the parents telling us she's refusing.
Episode 36. Not important at that point - would rather dialogue between the 2, At this point she's put herself in danger after saying in every episode I cant change anything. I wanted the ML to really plead his love and her attitude shows I get it. But she laughed it off etc etc.
I still watched the whole thing. FW politics and maybe some religious bits. Might mean half the content is not important. Also never understood why the farang family and all were even the show?Fillers?
I do not know who the original audience was and how I came to watch this! But the recommendations implied romantic time travelling with decent angst.
People are way too sensitive, ML was indeed suspicious and he matched the wine seller description. I agree that…
Thank you. If he was the bad guy and she had been nice we would call her a dumb ass. I think the confirmation from the old lady convinced her more. Believe the stranger, why? Because he is good looking?
I would have tied him up until the police got there.
When he has his hair tied up, he kinda looks like Han So Hee
I thought he looks like Lee Jong Hyun. I think the resemblance is uncanning. Watch him in Dance of phoenix and Lee Jong Hyun in My only love song on Netflix (kdrama). You will see what i mean
Again, the good people do unnecessary things all in the name of love. What I can’t understand is why she lied…
I know, its written to make us adore her actions. But that doesn't make sense to anyone out there. Fine the birth mother is a weirdo/evil. Are fathers useless too? Clearly not, in this case the birth father wants to contribute and if given the chance will raise her well. It just got so convuluded and enemies been created for the sake of it
I feel the FL need had nothing else to offer than been a punch bag for adopted mother and 'at least she looks after someones child and bear the reputation' eye roll
Depressing series, with the ML being a modern day eunuch. If you watch it you will understand.
haha! I thought the whole setup was different for a change. I'm used to the woman been the biggest doormat. This one was different! So I had to watch it to the end
FL was the one saving him and always understanding why he is a 'modern day saint' (eunuch/idiot/pushover/no wisdom) but she will save him anyway. He was making questionable decisions.
It's not a female empowerment show persay -all its saying is a ML and FL can't both be written in a way w/o making one lead stupid/idiotic/stupid and need some saving.
...don't hesitate do it! I thoroughly enjoyed it. The tension was just right, the comedy, the friendships. Not too dramatic or angsty. I think it should get more praise.
shes desperate ish. She went on about coming from a poor background and needs this!
ah ok. I understand. I was referring to 2nds wife ranting to herself to justify getting the baby out. yes i guess her underlying reason was to save him too.
I loved The Rebel Princess too!I think these biographical dramas tend to be flops because they can't decide whether…
...in the forums they say its usually produced well and then it goes through censorship. Some shows come out unscathed but some don't quite make it. Historical shows are not allowed to be too fictitious or too real? And not too long it used to be 70 episodes now its 40 episodes. Thats why we are seeing a lot of Part 1 and Part 2. If you say you are based on facts, it needs to follow closely - that's why some of them end up feeling like you are watching a documentary (snooze).
Can you imagine what that does to a director 'cutting up your show'.
There was something about the sillyness and slapstick nature of this kdrama that made it work and is rewatched on Netflix whenever I feel like something good. ML in kdrama was written well and made likeable.
I was thinking same. If they had shown FL is friends with both ML and SML then this problem would have not rose.…
100% agree. I did fast forward a lot and also found it so hard to relate with FL. It got so frustrating. Like is this some sort of female empowerment movement I've missed? It's ok to have multiple loves and confusing actions; remain utterly uncommitted. We wouldn't accept that from ML in any show.
I agree with what you said. Rebel Princess comes to mind - they did that switch really well. She was in love with her childhood sweetheart then she went through trials with her 'forced' new love...and fell in love with the new man. So when the two men were in the same room we believe why she picks her ML over 2ML.
This show was just a mess for me. Maybe it got butchered by the censorship?
they will break up and get back together, secondary couple is her half sister and male lead cousin
me too! i think half sister and mum should have had a bit more 'suffering'. If she had showed up at the wedding, I would have been fuming - they don't deserve it. The did that in 'You are my destiny'. cheapens the crime?!

I guess they showed him really put her first after they reconciled. He probably will treat her well for the rest of her life!
