I have left this community for so long due to work and life. But this drama made me come here because I need to take this out from my chest.
A journey to love is a masterpiece. Don't get diswayed by the sad ending. I made the mistake 2 years ago. Glad I picked this one up eventually. It's truly worth it.
From the beginning till the end I was captivated by the tight storyline, good acting, good script and good humour. The romance was mature. No stupid misunderstandings, no lies, not backstabbing. Just two people who love each other despite having responsibilities to fulfill. They never let go of each other and stayed loyal till death do them part. Literally. (Though this is debatable depending on how you interpret the ending). Ruyi and Chief Ning is the epitome of the badass couple in my book, rivaling other badass couples. You want something like Sui Ge and Yi Xiao? They are better imo. Nothing against the second couple. They are among my favourites too. But Ruyi and Chief Ning is more wholesome. I've been a fan of Liu Shi Shi's acting, ever since I watch The Vigilantes in Masks. After this drama, Yuning, you have got a fan in me.
The Liu Dao Hall brothers. Ohhh such a magnifiscent bond of brotherhood. Yu Shishan carried the humour well, followed by the others. I just can't get enough of them. Upon times, I find myself kept on replaying their scenes together. I had a bad withdrawall syndrome from them.
Princess Yang Ying. I hated her at first. Such a crybaby. But damn. She had the best character development. By the end of the drama, she was as magnifiscent as Ruyi.
I read some said Yuning's character in Prisoner of Beauty is a green forest character. In my opinion, Chief Ning is the forest of all forest. His dedication towards Ruyi is just... wow.
I am a person who have always hated sad endings. I avoid sad ending dramas like a plague. But this drama? Did I cry bucket towards the end? You betcha. I even cursed the scripwriter and director. But,
Worth. Every. Tears. Shed.
Plus point? The fighting scenes will make you wish you can learn some kungfu.
I love the plot of this drama. The main character was smart and not easily fooled. But some would be annoyed by the teenagers portrayed here. Rude entitled rich kids who like to bully others just because they have rich parents. Urgh.
this is the scariest drama after SAve Me and The Guest for me. Eerie and violent. trigger warning for suicidal content. I highly recommmend to those who like good thriller. Deserve more than 7.6 imo.
The first few episodes was confusing for me, but I was glad I stayed. The plot got more exciting and many things got unveiled. The characters really grew on me, especially the law students, Yangcrates and Prof Kim. The hopeless romantic side of me was a bit disappointed tho. I really wanted a sprinkle of romance between Hwi and Kang Sol. Hwi always look at Dan with this affectionate stare (at least that's how I feel). That being said, this drama is a good watch.
I really wanna watch this because Imma big fan of William Chan, but the comments make me have second thoughts. Age pof Legends and Side By Side with You were a let down for me in terms of plot and execusion. I think this drama has the same pattern. Hmmm.
Guys, I want to start this drama. Just need few heads up: 1. does it had a push and pull moment? I just don't wanna watch a very long push and pull moment between the leads, like 10 miles of peach blossom. 2. Does it take long for the FL to remember the ML after the reincarnation? 3. Many happy moment between the leads or many waiting and suffering and parting moments? I just need to prepare myself mentally. Thanks in advance!
the good: 1. chemistry of the leads. They were on faiiiyahhhhh! 2. The plot was something different. Plus I like how they make the flashback scenes as key points of the present plot. Sometimes some drama played the flashback scenes a bit over than it needed to be. 3. Secondary couple was cute. They were not annoying.
the bad: 1. execution of some scenes that were a bit illogial to me. 2. Some cringy scenes. 3. The fake death scenes. I just don't like the idea that they had to lie to that lil kid.
Is it worth your time? Well, yes. It's better than some of the recent cdramas that we have that are too predictable and cliche. This drama is something different. I like it.
totally agree! I have heard some netizens in China saying he is not good looking enough and that he slouches.…
Urgh. SOme nietizen's expectations are too high when it comes to looks. I'm not the type that falls for pretty guys. Not all pretty guys can act imho. Hao Du for me looks manly, and his acting was good here. As for slouching, i think it's more of the costume that his posture. Cannot do much as it's a historical attire. Maybe he'll look better next time in other looks. =)
How do you find depth or chemistry in characters by watching only 2 episodes?
Usually I would go for the impact of their first encounter. If i feel they could blend well, I would give it a go. If it's too dry, I would drop it. Plus sometimes I would watch some mvs on youtube just to get the feel of the drama. Zhanilia ZHao and William Chan for example had good chemistry in Mystic Nine, and I learned this through wacthing the MVs first. So it kinda depends on what works on you. If you find the leads in this drama have chemistry then maybe it's your cuppa. not mine.
