it's licensed so it could happen any day now... but since there are other shows airing on the platforms right now that they don't want overdo to compete with, we may have to wait until june... unless those shows do poorly and they decide to drop early.
My theory right now is that the queen mother either killed the king or told her father that the king was going to abdicate and her father killed him. And Queen Mother blames Yi An for being too popular that it overshadows the crown.
Just finished reading the novel. And wow. Im actually really excited for the drama version (even knowing itll cut most characters and a lot of plot because theres a lot going on tbe novel)
not to be a hater but tbh I'm thinking that the costume and hair departments in eternal faith has a grudge because what is this? π¬ my barbies had better quality hair.
After watching all the eps(all 40) I didnot get the ending. They ended the life story and switched to the next…
in the novel, the writer has a bunch of side stories. throughout the show they've incorporated most of them into the drama, and the last 30 min of ep 40 is basically the last extra drama the author wrote. kind of disappointing that a lot of the main story got cut to include the extra story plots and context... but for the most part they did stay very true to the book.
I think the best change they made between the novel and the drama is that they made XZ/YZ good with kids. Because drama XZ is nice and likes kids and is good with interacting with them and being kind to them. Meanwhile novel XZ is like... oh there's a child there.
Spoilers ahead on leaked episodes so if you don't want to know...
I will admit some concern around episod 27-28 about how they are going to wrap up the story lines because getting everything together in the last 13 episodes would be a challenge.
I have to say that I was right to expect it. Let's just say episode 31-32, still doesn't move forward much, then 33-38 was, in my opinion, amazing, and then 39-40 just speed ran through the remaining plot points. I'm not going to say that I thought it was the best way they could have executed it, but I still found it to be a very good show.
I'm rereading chasing jade now, and of course, I think the novel was phenominal and there are a lot of plot points that the show doesn't address or pieces that are just not included. However, the show has it's own charm that I love. I think the novel did the political situation, the family dynamics, and the fighting much better. But I do think the show did an amazing job with the romance. Honestly I think all the relationships (princess/scholar; shopkeepr/crownprince; ML/FL) were beautiful and the actors had amazing chemistry.
I really did love it, and it is absolutely a 10/10.
I'm definitely going to rewatch as the episodes upload normally on iqiyi because the pirate sites had the worst translations, but still loved it.
I did also consider that loving it is easier when you just binge it, because you have less time to obsess over what wasn't addressed. But either way, I was happy watching!
