I don't think she is the villain. Usually the good indicator is how the character acts when no one is around, and she seems highly sensitive and caring. There is for sure some big mystery going on, but I don';t think she is on the bad side.

Apparently they don't join up very well anyway, and the cast, direction and even characterization tend to differ. < this. Honestly, I feel like out of all Tomb series dramas I have seen Ultimate Note actually has the most different characterization. Especially Wu Xie seems like a completely different character.

Great review! I agree with many points. Especially with the issue of Tomb shows ending in an abrupt, as in they end in the middle of the plot, and at time... in the middle of the scene. From all the Tomb shows... all of them had exactly the same issue.

For the ex, I actually like him, but I think they completely miss what he could have been "used" for. Make him NOT have any lingering feelings for Xun An when he came back. Make it seem like he is truly trying to help the relationship by making Bai Lang jealous (since he does not know about the trauma and all that shit, so the "I'm trying to help make him jealous and release the feelings he has" could work) and make him from the start reconnect with the sis. Then it would be actually a decent side couple. And remove the hocky dude completely coz daaaaaaaaaamn this was just useless bit.

100% agree. I like the normal acts of affection with the main couple. Hugs and small kisses. Too many shows settles on one kissing scene and that's it. As if kissing your partner is a big event that can only happen a few times in a lifetime 🤣

and in fact suffers from serious PTSD. Until he doesn't. 🤡 The love can cure you is so annoying in BLs. I wish writers would take some time to do more research before they include topics like that in their shows...

i rather they don't give any explanation than one that is kind of... vague. For me just the body being there does not sit right, it's not like her body was in the village. Practically speaking there is still no connection. I'm also curious why they see it, but other people who were connected to the village did not.

yeah, I'm just not sure i like this "mechanic" coz there is not real proper explanation why they can see some villages and some not... This "ties" thing... I don't think Jang Pan Seok truly had any tie there. For Wook it was his mom, who was it for Pan Seok?

Some thoughts after 4 episodes.
First of all my ranking of girls and guys:

Girls: Nadine, Seulgi, Se Jeong, So E, Seo Eun.
Nadine is the best. I wish she was a bit more proactive, like when Se Jeong and new guy went talking, and she was just - I'll stay. I feel like he wanted her to do, he kept turning around and even extended hand in her direction, but she just gave up ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I still believe she has one of the more healthy approaches - it's a fun new adventure and experience.
I appreciated how Seulgi dealt with Dong Woo... omg their date was just frustrating to watch.
I also gain some sympathy towards So E. I don't really feel bad for her for not being picked, because I honestly think Yoong Jae never hinted he might be interested. It's brave of her to just go what she feels like doing, but I also appreciate that she made it clear it's "her bossiness" and had that chat with him.

Guys: Jin Young, Yoong Jae, Han Bin, Jong Woo, Dong Woo.
Jin Young is just awkward, shy and a bit dry in humor, but this is the shit I like 🤣
Yoong Jae is truly attractive. I like how collected he is and helpful when small things go wrong. + he is hot so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Dong Woo... I don't even think there is anything wrong with him, but damn he pushes things to go fast and does not get the hint when the pace is a bit too much for the other person.

About the preview before I forget, IF Jin Young was truly the one saying to Seul Gi he wanted to take things slower and it will be in the context: shit is going too fast I was LAUGH MY ASS OFF coz that's what she also did to Dong Woo lol But knowing shows like this, it's a completely unrelated shit and he was talking to someone else. Or he wanted to take things slow, but he does not regret it going so fast lol

That said, damn I wanted him and Nadine to get a chance to chat. I feel like they would click well together.

Honestly don't have many thoughts about these eps. The most entertaining part was Dong Woo and Seulgi's date coz it was just cringe and paint o watch 😅

So episode 1 it's like a hyperbole of the nonsens that can happen in the office work. Like drawning the circles, then erasing it and doing the same with x, just because the boss said you have to do it. I'm sure many of us did things we saw and we knew are pointless, but they were orders we just had to do. How workplace can make us into basically idiots, because we do need the job, and we need the money. So we just go along with it.

Or the job interview - every question is useless and tricky and is there just to prove how incompetent or not fitted for the job you are. It does not matter what answer you give - none is correct coz all can be twisted as something negative. Basically like a power trip during a job interview. You can give the best and most creative answer ever, but it does not matter.

Her taking the stairs? Again abiding by bullshit nonsense rules without questioning. Bish even thank the dude after he "explained" how she can't take the elevator to floor 22 and then walk the stairs that one last floor. Following the authority, especially in the new environment, without questioning shit that if obviously pintless.

Also, I think this is also a commentary how we stay in the well known patters even if they are not productive, simply because things always been this way. And trying to suggest change is scary, and since everyone accepts the current state, it means it's working so why would be even try to challenge it? Everyone cannot be wrong, it's more likely I don't understand why it's like that. You know... Stuff like Milgram experiment or Asch Conformity Experiment. Both good examples how awful people are at going against:
1. Authority
2. Groups of people.

Also.. the name of her department has me dying inside lol "Metaverse Ubiquitous NFT Digital Convergence Deep Learning Big Data Task Force Team" aka buzz words used online a lot, half of them being bullshit when put together lol But is sounds fancy, so you would rather just nod when you hear it instead of saying: yeah shit makes no sense. They wanted someone who does not try to figure shit out and find the reason behind why some things work this way or another why. That's why when she just answered: there must be a reasons, right?" it was a good answer coz it means she accepts whatever is thrown at her without thinking too deeply about it.

THE WAY SHE LEFT OMG

First of all, I feel like Thomas being a supporting character is a lie and that opening bit is all we will get. He did not show up after and I did not see him in the preview on episode 2 😭 I am sad. I want more of my boi. I liked him so much in season 1.

Joon Ho is still cute and hot Mr. Cop. I like how he is less cold and more chill now. He had great character development in season 1 so it's great to see more cheerful and bickering side of him.

Not sure I vibe with the long hair of Wook 😅

More nice roles to Heo Joon Ho, I actually like him in this cute nice role than his evil ones.

Oh Il Yong is sus 🤣 From preview, so is Kang Eun Sil.

Knowing shows like that, every case is connected. We will see with more episode.
Have to say though, this is a good first episode for a 2nd season.

My question tho - why they can see ghosts again? It for now makes no sense with how it was explained in season 1.

I think they hinted that with each time they come it will be easier, so chances are the wait will get shorter and the length they can stay will get longer :D
