The broken people trope works, if what broke them in the first place is either not hyper-realistic OR not showed in a great detail. Otherwise you just keep thinking how what they need it therapy and two people who don't know how to live a healthy live cannot truly teach each other how to get better. Especially in this drama where honestly there was not that much healing done. They might have been each other's starting point to get better, but the "get better" was literally skipped with no explanation and they met 3 years later 🙃

- the break to study abroad especially film making which is clearly something you learn on the field, by making films…it was ridiculous < this might be a bit cultural tho. Pretty sure Koreans value that piece of paper A LOT 🙃 And she kind of skipped the ladder a lot, the steps you use to learn. Being director but not knowing the basics would be more work for people around her on set. I kind of get what they wanted to show with her leaving, but damn they FAILED in delivery.

The dad plotline pissed me off the most. It was too important for the overall plot and ML's motivation to be left on one divorce scene...

More than 2 minutes, but yeah, right at the end. They did really poor job with it tho. Coz she left for 2 reasons - to grow as a person and chase her dream AND for him to find himself and not live just for her. And while she grew, he is still at the same spot as he was before and she is still his dream... the writers forgot to give him last second development 😅

He could have made the film himself, but he still came back to help her become a movie director. < that he could not without her permission since he did not have full legal rights to the script. Even if he wanted to make a movie alone, he would need to get the green light from her since it was co-written by them both.

I'm not gonna miss the plot and characters, but I am going to miss the directing.
I think this is the first time directing truly caught my attention so much. I was more excited for fun camera work, framing and editing than what happens in the plot 🤣

As always in Korean rom-coms, last conflict was dumb as fuck ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I also feel like half of the plot did not get proper closure.

🙂 Leads were fine, I wished the initial pinning and angst lasted longer.
🙃 Everyone loved 2nd leads, for me they were also fine.
🔥 3rd couple NEEDS their own drama based on their plot. What a fucking unique idea for a romance!

This is the type of a show I don't regret watching, but I would also not recommend to others 🤡🤣

That was her mistake. While she assumed correctly that he will be against her leaving to study abroad, she should still first communicate with him, and then apply. But he should also not frame it as if her wanting to study and grow in her career is her abandoning him and asking her to pick him and give up on her dream. I do not understand why they were so dramatic about it instead of thinking how to make the long term relationship work for the time she is studying.

study in Korea? Apply next year. I mean just because she might not get on the first try does not mean she should not try. And she did get in so that's that.

I think she has a valid point of not being able to grow as independent director if she stays in Korea with Subin. They will keep directing things as a duo, and even if she taks on solo projects, as she said, she would still rely on him a lot.

Yeah I think you misunderstood my comment. I meant the characters themselves overreact and make a big deal out of her studying abroad, not the viewers.

He wants to work with her coz she wants to be director, but his dream is just her... so just go with her to where she will study 🙂
The issue is they act as if their romantic relationship is the same as their careers and professional relationship, like idiots. they can be romantically involved while also career wise do their own thing.

Putting the break up aside, even in episode 11 they were acting as if it's the end of it all 🤣

Him getting with Seo Hyeon and her with Heung Sik is just awful thing to do. They don't love them, they will never love them and they will know and feel it. They would waste years in relationships that are destined to failed 🥲

Honestly, Mu Jin and Gyu Rim are my least favorite characters right now, right after his mother and her father.

On the other hand, I love Han Gyu Yeong - she brings the needed spice and chaotic energy. And at least she stays true to herself. Like... if someone is an asshole and hurts you, you can at least hate them, fight them etc. But if someone hurts you "with good intentions" like what Gyurim is about to do to Heung Sik, you feel guilty about feeling annoyed and angry about it... because the person who hurt you is "a good person" 🙂

Also, Cho Heung Sik is great. His interactions with Gyu Rim and how he keeps telling her to stop saying she will take responsibility for him etc are amazing. Poor dude likes her, knows she does not like him bac and tries to convince her to stop acting like a dumbass 🤣

Anyway, the bullshit dating of people you don't like era about to start and I'm gonna be rolling my eyes and watching my brain throughout it all 🤡

I think the countryside bit was important, but it should have been shorter. I think she was still trying to fool herself into thinking she can start a new normal life, but with what happened in the village, that was her turning point into accepting her new reality.

Okay I got to the "cocaine" moment of your review and it seems like the case of people who say yes without checking shit first 🥲 The fact she got no support from her government sucks for sure, but one would think after getting bad result after not checking things once with the loan, they would not be so quick to jump into a new situation without checking it first. and I get it, if your situation is really bad and it's either "getting worse doing nothing, or hoping for good result while taking a risk" the answer seems simple, and the regret only comes later.

o-signing a loan you can’t easily cover is always a dangerous move no matter how much you like someone. < this. Honestly only co-sign and borrow money you are okay to lose. It seems like a simple rule, but social relationships and emotions are complex and it's not that easy to follow when it happens to you.
