In the past I set myself a number of episodes I have to watch before dropping too. At some point I just stopped caring tho.
Usually watching one episode I have already seen refreshes my memory enough to continue with the plot, but for few dramas I just had no idea what's up and what happened before.
I dropped It's okay not to be okay too, for a specific reason aka they started to go into Disney territory of FL getting better with her APD coz of "love" lol
I've rewatched it quite a few times myself :)
Not sure how interesting it is, but I've been doing the 2nd chance project for a year now and kind of wanted to share the experience hahaha
But yeah, I dropped NiF twice and I cannot see myself giving it 3rd chance ever. I lot of people who LOVE this drama love ML, while I truly disliked him. So suffering for more episodes makes no sense for me hahahaha
For the "picking dramas"... that depends. First of all, even if I am not in the mood, I quickly get in the mood if I start episode and that helps a lot. I always try to keep up with airing dramas I am watching - new episode, watch as soon as possible.
For the dramas from my ptw lists, I made custom lists for each country. Usually I think what country I want to watch, then scroll through the list - if something catches my attention, I go with that. If not - random number generate next drama hahaha
I actually really liked first 8 episodes of NiF, but after that I slowly started losing interested and even started to get frustrated hahaha Got to episode 20, coz everyone told me that's the "turning point" lol
It was really dark and emotionally exhausting tho.
There are some dramas I dropped and will not include in my 2nd chance project (for example if in the cast there is an actor accused of SA etc), but most dramas I dropped on a whim without any specific reason. "insulting you with propaganda, sexist character, laziness and so son" are not the reason I drop dramas most of the time.
Like Project S: Skate Our Souls which I named in the article: dropped it coz at the time I watched it the first time, it was too much for me, after picking it up again it became one of my favorite dramas I have seen in 2020.
If someone drops dramas for specific reason (be it sexist character, poorly written story, any type of triggers) then yeah, not picking them up makes sense. For me it's "nah, I don't feel it at the moment" or "damn I watch to many dramas atm, need to drop some titles".
I feel you with SKY Castle tho. I had similar "problem" with Save Me. Was on hold for me for 2 years coz it was too intense and I was just getting too angry while watching.
At the end of the day, for me, it's better to cast an actor who does not have well trained skill but fits the character, than having someone who slay in said skill, but his performance in portraying the character does not fit. I did not mind the double for Navillera, they filmed it quite well with the limits that the set and skills of the actor set.
I had a need to give a drama fair chance with few episodes in the past, but now I can give up even few minutes in first episode.
But I kind of understand why you would drop completed dramas more often if we think about the spacing episode up a bit in time :)
