Any jump scare? Ghost/ scary faces?
yeah, a lot of scary faces and mangled bodies. I wouldn’t advise you to watch it if you scare easy and don’t like violence. People die in pretty awful ways.

But the squid game part you’re referencing was like 1 episode and the only ‘game’ was the race.
that’s helpful, because I stopped near the end of episode 6. Maybe I’ll check it out again.

The first couple episodes were really interesting, but I had no idea this was going to be a “death race” type drama. if you’re looking for a drama where someone is wrongfully accused of murder and is plotting revenge. This… takes a strange squid games like turn.

I hate that type of genre. I’m sure I’m in the minority. if you like that, you’ll probably like this.

Didn't anyone who commented actually see this movie? The kid you're all complaining about is 6 years old! How…
I don’t really see many comments where people are complaining about the kid being annoying. We are annoyed because this movie made no sense and was advertised to be something it wasnt.

I read the comments and thought, “oh, how bad can it be? People tend to be too picky. I usually like things people don’t like”

I was wrong! I have never been so disappointed in a movie. This was advertised as a disaster movie. I love disaster movies. It is not. it’s some weird, AI simulation crap.

I don’t do spoilers, but I think everyone who is watching this and expecting a good disaster movie, needs to be aware it’s not a disaster movie.

I have no words.

time to drop this shit, can't even have a proper character behaving like themselves. like why the f does she care…
idk the longer they’re on earth the more they become human, right? It’s not that far-fetched that she would start to develop human emotions.

I haven't made it to the dog episode yet so thanks for the warning. I already cried with the veterans episode…
I’m glad you were prepared with the tissues for the dog episode. they touch on a lot of topics, and some are hard. I feel they do well overall to bring light to certain issues. I may rewatch this one sometime. I wonder how you’ll end up liking the series. check back in later!

I didn’t even find it interesting until about about episode 10. Every episode is nearly 1.5 hours. That’s…
I definitely understood why she rejected him and what she truly felt. I suppose it didn’t help to have the first episode start with “hi I’m back from the USA. also I’m unemployed… and I ended my engagement” even though they didn’t just break up, it was extremely new information to the family. Then the ex came back near the end, right before they started dating. it may have subconsciously set the vibe for it to feel rushed. I’m not sure.
I’m definitely in the minority with my viewpoint, I’ll admit that lol

Anyone who hates the characters is seriously just being immature. Like, sure, criticize and point out their flaws…
I did read what you wrote. You also said that outright hating a character and reducing them to what you don’t like without appreciating the intent is immature and shallow. I just felt like we don’t have to be understanding of characters and their flaws. some flaws are too triggering and unlikable to try and understand or care about the intent. Sometimes it’s just like “wow. what a hideous character. I really hate them.” That’s just my 2 cents. lol There will always be characters I just downright hate, and I’m definitely not going to ponder about the intent. it’s kind of like real life. if someone is repeatedly nasty to me in real life, then im more than likely going to hate them and want nothing to do with them.

I get that writers need characters like this to push along plots though.

Basically, I think there’s 2 types of people who watch movies/TV. 1. people who watch and take things at surface level. “this is what I watched and this is how I feel” 2. people who like to dissect the plots and analyze the characters and find something more.

I am not a category 2 person. My brain just doesn’t work like that, but I’m ok with it lol

happy dissecting and take care!

you know, despite all this back and forth, I never even go to drama pages and randomly talk about characters i hate lol I’ve only mentioned it a handful of times and always piggybacking on someone else’s comment lol

I’m not exactly sure. Maybe because I felt there was 10 episodes of her treating him like an annoying brother and rejecting him multiple times and then the story arc just changed suddenly and now they’re inseparable as lovers. They have 30 years of friendship and then they squeeze a romance in at the ass end of the show. The way the wrote it felt like “oh. Im in love with you now” I’m okay with a slow burn, but it felt this was a sloooooow burn. I do think once they paired up it was a good pairing. They were perfect for each other in a lot of ways, and of course it is hard to transition from lifelong friends to lovers. It’s just the way it was written and presented to me that just feels rushed. it’s hard for me to explain.

I am randomly going through my list. I watched this when it first came out. I still vividly remember the dog episode. I cried so much that I had to take my shirt off and wipe my tears. idk why that episode hit me so hard. I can never watch that one again lol but this was a really good show

There’s a difference between dragging an actor/actress based on the character they play, and not liking a character. it is not immature to not like a character. That’s how movies and TV shows go. Not every character is meant to be liked by everyone. People should be allowed to discuss that. No show or character is 100% perfect, like you say, so people should be able to acknowledge that in discussion forums. so long as they’re not being crazy about it and insulting others. For instance, I really dislike her mom. I can’t bring myself to like her, period. I like the actress though. I’ve watched several things with her, and she didn’t play the “good guy” either. she plays her characters well, it’s just the fact that I don’t like them sometimes, and that’s okay.

Now that I am finally watching I understand why everyone finds the mother annoying... She checks all the boxes…
I truly hated her character. she’s tolerable near the end, but even then I’m thinking “oh my god. this is a grown woman?” She was down right horrible to her daughter, she picks fights over stupid things, and she’s just a busybody and bully.

I just dropped this show and it hurts me because I love both Jung So Min & Jung Hae In. However, I can't help…
I didn’t even find it interesting until about about episode 10. Every episode is nearly 1.5 hours. That’s approximately 15 hours of “meh” before I became interested. I’m nearing the end now, episode 16 tonight … I’m ready for it to be over. There are aspects of the show I like, though. It’s not all bad. the relationship thing felt rushed and awkward for a bit.

it’s ok. I may give it a 7.5. It’s definitely not something I would watch again. But it was interesting enough to finish the first time.

everyone has different taste. this was an alright drama.

I ended up loving it. I totally get that every drama will have negative comments, and everyone’s experience is valid. I just couldn’t understand why the rating was so high and the comments were so bad. I really had to search for positive ones. lol

the trolls came out after the drama ended because they didn't like that it had a high rating. go into the discussions…
I finally finished it. I quite liked it a lot. A perfect travel romance. I just enjoyed it for what it was. I’m glad I watched it despite the comments.

Terrible reviews but really high rating - how come?
I asked the same question maybe a month back because it made me a little apprehensive about starting it. I’m watching it now. I’m on episode 12. So far I’m enjoying it 🤷‍♀️ the endings of dramas can make it or break it to me but so far the concept up to this point has been enjoyable. there are some funny moments too.
