My thought exactly! I never look at review, watch it myself first and judge it for myself instead. It is sometimes…
The CGI in XY is the best I’ve seen in a Chinese fantasy drama, and I’ve seen a lot. That being said, the visual aspect is not a problem. Costumes are great too.
I would say, if you like thought-provoking narratives with a lot of food for thought towards the end, XY is worth giving a go. The ending was worth it to me. Didn’t feel lackluster at all, but you do you!

It’s the ending. Many people aren’t a fan of it, but I liked it. Some people are suckers for the fairytale-style ending, whereas this one is more realistic and grounded.
Haven’t visited this page in a minute but DAMN.. that rating is actually insane.. I’m so glad I chose not to look at the ratings before and as I started watching lol. It would’ve really ruined the experience.
This drama is one of those films that had such a unique storyline that it manages to stick with you for a long, long time (despite its flaws). The image of that ending scene is just burned into my psyche.
It’s been a while since I initially felt so conflicted with the ending, but after staring at the ceiling for a good hour after it ended, was like: “damn.. that was a good fucking ending.” Mind you, when i completed that final episode, I was pacing around my house with the occasional urge to say: “Damn! That ending was GOOD!” A part of me sees it as a combination of OE, BE, and HE. Ultimately, it depends on your perspective, but I just love reading other people’s narrative interpretations of the ending. So much food for thought.
Is this drama a slow burn romance? Many comments were like it’s similar to love in the clouds - is it true ?…
Slow burn yes. Similar to LITC? Romance-wise, no; plot quite possibly (I haven’t watched that much of LITC to tell you this one). The romance is subtle, not overt. Kiss scenes aren’t many, as the ‘intimacy’ is more so acts of service, quality time, sacrifice, and whatnot. It’s more of a ‘poetic’ intimacy in that the romance isn’t overt, but sizzles with tension.
It’s a good one for people who want food for thought. A more ‘mature’ watch, if you will. It definitely has it’s own intended audience. If you’re looking for a drama where both the leads are rolling around in bed by episode 2, this one isn’t for you. The romance is subtle, not overt.
She slowly looks up, a trace of melancholy swirling in her gaze.
“You speak of humans as innocent, then what about the demons?”
ughhhh this part was so GOOD. I occasionally have the urge to just rewind to THIS specific part because it’s such a cinematic masterpiece.

I’m glad we agree!

I’m staring at the ceiling rn after all that. That was a damn good show!
