I really can't tell what is cantonese or chinese. So it doesn't make any difference for me. Dubbing itself no…
that’s interesting! mandarin and cantonese sound SO different but my lack of exposure to cantonese makes it sound closer to vietnamese LOL. i like it, though, it definitely adds a bit of character to the show imo
anyway i like this show but i definitely am not as in love with it as i have been with some other BLs. i am enjoying it and He Yan Zhao is very pretty! but i’m not sure what isn’t quite hitting the mark for me 🤔
this show has made me realise i dont watch characters mouths. the voiceover not synching with the mouth movements—i think im lucky i dont notice AT ALL 😌
I think it’s fine to have series that portray characters realistically and fine to have those that don’t. At the end of the day, different series are intended for different audiences. Pursuit of Jade is primarily a ROMANCE drama with a historical setting. Are we really going to pretend we don’t know which audience it is for and what most of such an audience would prefer to see?
One of my favourite movies is Mulan starring Vicki Zhao and Chen Kun which I feel shows the characters to be quite rough. It definitely works well for that movie.
I am also excited to watch two of Liu Xueyi’s dramas; in one, he is playing a historical figure and it seems like the production will have him look more true to history. I imagine it will be quite a serious drama. In the other, I can already see that he will be wearing more makeup.
What about the fact that most actors are ridiculously attractive? Where are the complaints that it isn’t “realistic” for every single person in a single scene to be above average? LOL
All that to say, again, different dramas have different genres have different aesthetics based on the demographic being targeted.
This is more applied in Korean context in China It only applies in certain cases, but he’s had many controversial…
Fair enough, I understand where you’re coming from :) I just think ANY association to Kris Wu would be incredibly unfair for most people though, haha!
With artists, at least for me, there’s an extent to which I can “ignore” their real life to enjoy their art but there are limits. The things ZLH has said (there are two things, a comment about SEA appearances and a comment towards a woman asking if she understood Interstellar) sees me in the “hopefully his worldview changes and he wisens up a little” category.
That being said, the person you responded to is wrong when they say ZLH would have been cancelled in Korea or the US. When it comes to misogyny and racism, Korean media doesn’t tend to take it very seriously). And even worse, the US still platforms people who do things like Kris Wu has done 🤮
can anyone tell me, why is this rated so low? i haven’t started watching but i’m trying to work out whether i will. i can’t imagine it’s the acting… is it the story?
that is to say, he is art

Also the mirror locker scene… I feel like Sun Cai Zhen acted that out very well!
