I do not think I could do this drama justice by commenting on the great and not so great things right after I finished watching it. I am going to let it (and me) breathe a bit. I can definitely say if you are thinking about starting the drama, queue it up. If you made it to this page and my comment, I am pretty sure you will like it. I am pretty confident about that.
Can you imagine how crazy immortals must be when every little aggravation must be magnified having to deal with…
The source of all wars is probably the one immortal who keeps telling the same joke over and over and over and over...
I do think that in the beginning, the drama painted Shuiyuntian as the good place and Cang Yan Sea as the bad place. Pretty quickly, you realized that is was not so simple, and immortals were people living in the grey area, just like mortals. 100% Little Orchid is a fairy, but DFQC was not a devil.
Do you think Chi Di deserves some punishment too? She was the one that chose him, and was in a master-student…
I do not blame her either, just throwing that thought out there. Especially since a master-student relationship can have varying degrees of meaning in dramas. She must feel absolutely terrible just knowing the things she knows without knowing the full magnitude of his actions. Then as soon as he gets a chance, he goes right back to doing what he was doing before. At least that is what the end of 34 looks like. I expected RH to stay obsessive and evil , but being a Sweet On drama and given his humble origins, I thought the drama might give him a tinge of redemption and a fate less than what he deserves, but not sure with so little time left.
bro Rong Hao did so many evil deeds for his selfish love, I would be mad af if they just let him off easily just…
Do you think Chi Di deserves some punishment too? She was the one that chose him, and was in a master-student relationship with him. She never seemed to notice he had issues? I know she sacrificed for the greater good, but in doing so, she unleashed a greater evil.
ok, so i might totally be the exception, but I LOVE these two eps from today, and that nearly all the side characters…
Can you imagine how crazy immortals must be when every little aggravation must be magnified having to deal with them for tens of thousands of years? Dramas never really go that route, it is all forever love and how wonderful it must be. Farting under the covers for 30000 years, 50000 years of watching someone eat with their mouth open, or an eternity of being asked "does this make me look fat?" never seems to happen. Someone looks at me sideways twice and we would have a problem. Honestly, I wonder how there is more than one immortal because I am not sure how anyone could handle being aggravated with no end in sight.
Can I say Shuxin's Moonlight I've watched from SWEET ON last year is the true definition of SWEET ON. It's super…
I think the drama fits with what the SWEET ON collection was made for. New spins on romance themed drama. Some are definitely more sweet than others, and while this drama may not be as sweet, it is not as angsty or overbearing as a lot of longer xianxia dramas can be. Pardon the pun, but this drama hits the sweet spot of fluffy and xianxia.
Am I the only one who doesn't feel that masterpiece atmosphere from this drama? Can't really put my finger on…
I have watched the first six episodes and I agree. I think that is by design though. I do not think it was meant to be this big, glowing, life-altering, exquisite work of art. It is more low-key, down to earth, messy and uncomfortable, irreverent, but that is life sort of atmosphere. If a large group of people were gathering to watch a drama, this is not the drama they would be watching. This drama would probably be watched by the "if you know you know" group.
How was today' s ep guys? Thinking of saving myself from some heartbreak and watch it all together tomorrow...i…
The heartbreak of the past few episodes (30 on), is really not as bad as you would think. It is not heartbreak of being alone with your thoughts sipping cheap wine wondering why the world is unfair and if anyone will ever ever love you. It is more of hanging out with a best friend crying it out and having all the junk food you could want type of heartbreak.
Do you always get overly frustrated at people not understanding why certain characters do things that are not-so-right…
I think that viewers watch dramas for different reasons, and that it is not always about understanding every character or the whole story. We only have so much material to work with and it is understandable that people fill in the blanks given their own thoughts and experiences. I think viewers' biases also come into play when they analyze a drama.
Jie Li did what probably most of us what do when put in a situation where our life is seemingly out of our control. She would get the most sympathy from me. Xun Feng probably went a bit further than most of us would, but even in those moments, you could tell that was not what he wanted to do. It seemed like the choices he made were for a greater good, but he seemed like he would suffer for it. He gets some sympathy from me. Rong Hao had a rough beginning, but became obsessed with his master. I suppose anyone who has been in love can sympathize with the infatuation that he must have. We are mortals and our time is short, plus we tend to gravitate towards those who share more healthy versions of love. Spending hundreds or thousands of years with someone and letting that grow (apparently one-sided or at least in a different form) only to have it taken away must be painful. And that was just the beginning of the descent. I do not think any of us would destroy the world to bring back someone we loved. We might say we would, but love itself would probably keep us from doing it. So, I would have to dig deep in my backpack of sympathy to find a shred or two to give him. He really has not done anything to change my mind about him. There are four episodes left, so maybe I could scrounge up a few more pieces if he can change.
I cannot recall when the big reveal about her character is, but it does help to understand why she is like she is, and some of the choices she made. About the chemistry between her and Shang Que, I think it is there, but that was never really a focus of the drama. There are plenty of dramas where the main leads have a friend or someone close, and they also have a sweet story line. No matter how many "sweet" scenes with Shang Que/Jie Li, Rong Hao/Master, and Chang Heng/Dan Yin they try to make, it is a Little Orchid and DFQC world and they are just living in it.
I think you are selling the other characters short if you think that the differences between Rong Hao, Little…
Rong Hao does not have much wiggle room. I am not sure if the drama made it clear when his corruption started, but probably soon after the events that led to his master sacrificing her life. I am not sure if it is an apt comparison, but have you seen the Star Wars movies? Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader got some measure of redemption even after everything he did, and was possible because someone never gave up on seeing the good in him. I have seen a few xianxia dramas, and they can be all over the place when it comes to justice, redemption, forgiveness, sacrifice, and love. There are still four episodes and loose ends to tie up. The evil spirit is still lurking so there might be a chance.
what's the reason they call it truce? they could have keep killing each other in the war?
When the Goddess brought everyone back to life, I imagine the shock and awe made everyone want to take a breather and reassess. I think it is only for a hundred years, which in the time span of the drama is quite short.
I'm confused when Si Ming explained the Tian Jin mirror. She said those who can see the prophecy can definitely…
I view the second half of the mirror sequence just like the first half. There is a bride, groom, and wedding, but there was no scenes of being happily married. In the mortal realm, the same scenes played out, but obviously there was no marriage or happily ever after. The whole mirror scene and subsequent rest of the drama would have lost its punch if it showed exactly what happened. It seemed to show just enough to basically set everything in motion.

When you use quite sorry, quite bad, or quite lucky, I read that as more than a little, so I misunderstood you. He has characteristics of a tragic character so there is a little sorrow, and a little sympathy I can feel for his character, even if it only a little.
Omg, it was heartbreakingðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ Dylan outdone himself, i cried with himðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ And that scene…
I also thought that 31 and 32 felt rushed. I think that is going to be the pace of the drama going forward. I will give the drama credit for realizing it at episode 31 instead of 35.5 like other dramas. They still gave the emotional scenes their due time which is probably what viewers want anyways.
