Not weak romance, but more like a weak everything else (including plot). The real selling point of the drama are the main leads and their chemistry. They take every opportunity to show you his face. Like a PPL (product placement), but his face.

I wanted to add that you should check out the drama Hold On, My Lady with Yakisa as the FL. It is available to watch free on YouTube and is a shorter drama (3-4 hours).

I actually agree with you. I am assuming by "soo much better" you mean not someone better than the ML per se, but that she deserves a relationship in which love is healthy and reciprocated. The story has portrayed her as more naive than jaded. She is not any more knowledgeable in love than the other characters, so while her missteps may be more glaring, they should not necessarily be judged more harshly. This is as of episode 14, so it is possible that she could (hopefully not) go full evil scheming 2FL, but she has such a nice aura about her, that I do not see that happening.

I am not sure if uncomfortable is the word I would use, but I understand. I take it as they want to show how they get drawn to each other and perhaps show the tension between them. I think with the lack of a non-romance plot (or at least a weak one), the biggest selling point is the main leads. I predict a lot more closeups the rest of the way.

I actually have not seen 11-12 yet. From the very beginning, the mains had chemistry. Maybe LYR can be the GJX for XNY (wow, a lot of initials) and get him to have more than one dimension. I do not think that they (second leads) should get together, but it would be nice if it were like My Fated Boy where chemistry was shown, but not really developed. I do agree about the sooner the mains get together, the better. There is no real plot, and I am really watching this for the main's chemistry, and waiting for that moment.

Yakisa (Li Yan Ran) is doing a good job of not going overboard while portraying her character. There is time between new episodes, so I watched her first drama which is short called Hold On, My Lady (free on YouTube). I thought she did a really good job, and looked comfortable on screen. Xu Ning Yuan (and/or the actor) is a bit stiff, and she helps to breathe some life into his character.

I wonder if the odd couple (Xu Ning Yuan and Li Yan Ran) will have the same sort of setup as Zheng An's cousin and Li Tian in My Fated Boy which is only potential interest that was only hinted at and not developed. It really worked in My Fated Boy because it let Li Tian resolve her obsessive feelings and Zheng An's cousin move on while doing their past feelings justice.

I hope that they will not keep her trying to force a relationship with XNY for too much longer. It is uncomfortable to watch, and boring as well.

I really enjoyed this drama. It was a short drama that seemed fuller and more lively than other short dramas I have seen (than some regular dramas I have seen). The FL looked comfortable in the lead role, and really dazzled on the screen.

Their interactions are always so natural, even when they are awkward (like getting too intense).

For some strange reason, I though the rock-paper-scissors scene was one of the funniest things I have seen in a while.

Search the web for relationship answers? I would never do that. That is lunacy! I just ask my friend(s) who have never been in love and read weird manga. They cannot be wrong. Right? The law of averages means they have got to give good advice at some point...

I think most viewers are watching for the chemistry and not the plot. That is probably true for most of these shorter romance heavy dramas. I think that is why they can get away with things like young skydiving CEOs who have odd allergies, and beautiful mature women who want to be in love, but have never been kissed.

It looks like the leads sing the intro. I knew he was a singer (bio), but did not know she was.

I think it is obvious that both are (very) attracted to each other, but it makes sense that he has liked her for awhile. She has been dealing with her confused feelings in regards to Xu Ning Yuan, while Gu Jia Xin does not have that issue.

You definitely get used to that in these type of dramas.

I would label that more naivety than obsession. Zhao Jiang Yue has always been about work and achievements and that is the same way Xu Ning Yuan comes across. ZJY really is naive when it comes to matters of the heart, and I imagine she is trying to figure out their relationship as well as the mixed signals her brain and heart are sending her. She still acts like a junior in awe of her boss towards XNY. Even her attempts at romance are professional and business-like. On the opposite end is how she treats Gu Jia Xin. Intimate and passionate from the very beginning, even if it was not necessarily in a romantic sense at first.

I do not have much of a problem with the age gap between the leads as much as I do with the age gap between the ML and his ability. Top university abroad, champion class racer, golfer, and love master seems a bit too much for 22. To be the ML of a Chinese romantic comedy...
