Like a few said, I thought the title gave it away, plus she interacted with everyone. From Woo Yeo to the mountain spirit, and even Sun Woo's sister. I do think you are right in they botched the gumiho to human aspect. You could probably selectively edit 30 minutes out of the whole drama and not even be aware he was a fox. (Maybe more than 30 minutes, but you get my point.) I do think the drama was outstanding for what it was... a light, romantic comedy with some fantasy elements thrown in. It addressed serious themes in a less than serious way which I found enjoyable. Good or best is in the eye of the beholder, but at the very least, it is one I would recommend.

I think it is unfair to say he had zero character development since he did go from gumiho to human. I think they wanted to express his humanity little by little, but just did not make good use of his gumiho character. For most of the drama I just thought he was a cold CEO with the perky FL warming him up. Which makes for a good story, but not the gumiho to human story I was expecting. That was not the Jang Ki Yong's fault, and really did not "ruin" the drama for me. Plus, the drama was about Lee Dam. I would understand your disappointment if Lee Hye Ri was not praised for her acting because she was the main main. Jang Ki Yong could (not saying he did) hide behind interactions with Lee Hye Ri. Lee Dam had to interact with everyone so there was no place for her to really hide. I find it difficult to believe that he got no appreciation as an actor. Just look at the comment section here. Maybe you did not appreciate him, but you are just one person. I think he did a good job with the material he had to work with. However, this drama was the Lee Dam show. Other characters could have brought their B or C level acting and not been a big deal. If Lee Dam was not excellent, this drama would have been crushed. I cannot say for sure what Lee Dam was supposed to be like, but Lee Hye Ri was stellar in the role. Everyone else was really good too. You can refuse to acknowledge the drama was good, but that does not make it less true.
It was truly a great drama. Great does not mean perfect but in a world full of good or not good dramas, I will take great dramas any day of the week. Lee Hye Ri was locked in as Lee Dam from the first minute to the last scene. She was the perfect person in the perfect role at the perfect time for her. Her manager/agent/whomever helped her get the role should get a bonus. She was the sun around which every other character revolved, and each character seemed to benefit from her radiance. Even that sad sack Sun Woo came across as more pathetic because of how real Lee Dam was. Sun Woo's sister Seo Woo had only a few scenes, but was surely the more dynamic sibling. She was the MVP of episode 16 to me. If I had to find minor complaints, I would have liked the other couples to have been fleshed out a bit more, taken out Sun Woo completely, and dropped the disappearing act by Woo Yeo, along with making more use of him as a fox spirit. I say that, but MDL might have had to make an 11 rating just for this drama, so I will just enjoy it as it was. There is a saying that you should not judge a book by its cover. This drama makes me want to add that you should not judge a drama by its title.
I see Shin Gyeom actions towards Young-won as a sign of respect rather than weakness. Romantically pursuing your…
I do not think it is a matter of respect since he mentions the idea of dating and purchased the purse for her. He also chose to stay just to be near her. Definitely weakness. It is true he is not forcing the situation but what will happen when he finds out they are dating. Will he be mad at one or the other or both?
Even with episode 10 behind me, I just did not feel the hurt he was feeling. Maybe not seeing the relationship is part of that.
Nice to know I'm not the only one not feeling much sympathy for Editor Nam (I sincerely hope they don't pair him…
I like the assessment of Sang Soon. He seemed to have fallen asleep at the wheel of his relationship. You cannot just turn on cruise control and expect it all to work out when it is convenient for you. I seems a little too late for a grand gesture. She does not even seem like the type to want a grand gesture.
I found it difficult to empathize with "boyfriend" Sang Soon. For part of the drama, I thought Cutie Pie was made up. I also wondered if he was even spending time with her, or was waiting to get the apartment to propose to her. Maybe she cheated and broke up with him, but the sense I got was that his insecurity and lack of action was what started the whole process. Cutie Pie (aptly named Kim So Eun) and boyfriend Sang Soon seemed to be just paper characters compared to Editor Nam. I also feel the same about Shin Gyeom. He seems so scared (timid/shy/weak/whatever relative term you want to use) when it comes to Young Won. His friend seems to be screaming "iceberg" constantly, and he seems to be unaware of the impending doom (heartbreak). I am glad he is not scheming and plotting, but I just do not see why he sees the need to be so wimpy.
When he got the confirmation that they were in a relationship, that was probably the first genuine shout of "yes" I have seen in a drama after a positive response. Usually they go waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay overboard (like my use of a), but I think he got it just right. IQIYI is really doing well with this drama and My Roommate Is a Gumiho.
I don’t like the main couple in this one :(reading the comments here, it seems I’m the only onethey don’t…
I think part of the story with both couples (main and secondary) is the journey towards being real couples. I do not feel either couple is real yet, but I do think both couples have chemistry. I have always found the use of word chemistry odd because is it a scientific term for something that is subjective to each viewer.
I am glad that you are willing to put your thoughts and opinions in public, offering support for your opinions, and welcoming feedback. I tend to agree with some of your viewpoints and even ones I might not agree with, I am able to see your point of view. I do think that the poor depiction of real life issues is always going to be a problem because of the need for a drama to exaggerate characters to create or illustrate drama, and that if writers were only allowed to write what they were certified experts in, the number of dramas would be vastly diminished. I do think being critical of dramas is important. A writer can write anything they want. Dramas are usually produced with financial goals in mind, and watched by viewers who think they will enjoy them. If viewers do not like something, why should they watch it? If more responsible viewers would share their opinions and back them up with support, we could see more realistic character portrayal of sensitive issues even in something exaggerated like a drama or movie. I guess these would be issues that people feel strong enough to voice their opinion about. I do think that you have to watch dramas with your eyes open. Being able to accept dramas for what they are and are not, while wanting more out of them. I think the more articles like this, the better.

Noble idiocy, the ultimate mood killer. It is one of my least favorite tropes because it makes no one happy. Main leads, second lead(s), or viewers. Usually it is done towards the end, so I wonder if they will use it now. Shin Gyeom is so into Young Won, but he is such a wimpy character. I think the drama so far is really good. I have to say I feel at home watching Monthly Magazine Home.

Considering that Shin Gyeom seems to be Ja Sung's close (maybe only) friend, I wonder what is going to happen when he finds out about Ja Sung and Young Won.
Honestly Sun Woo pretty dull WEBTOON also and did not change that much in the drama
I think that this drama (as of episode 14) fell short in making the ML feel like a gumiho, and making the SML feel important. It does not detract from how good MRIAG is to me.

So are you saying we should be as kind as him or making a joke saying we should be as kind as him? Ja Sung figured out a way around making Young Won feel worse. It seems to be better to be kind like Ja Sung. He has a beautiful woman living in his house. The one Shin Gyeom likes. Shin Gyeom ends up camping with another guy.
