I think its rare to find a romcom thats doesnt start feeling draggy by ep 12-13, but this one just got better…
After reading your comments, you should prepare for episode 14. Take anything valuable and/or breakable out of the viewing area. Do not eat or drink either.
I am trying to recall if they even showed them being a couple or enjoying spending time together. JJ needs therapy.…
One of the things that was problematic in my opinion about the drama overall is that we really know nothing much about what happened right before the trio broke up. It is implied that HJ was forced to make a choice and his agent was shady about it. We also do not know much about how JJ really feels about anything, including IH. Obsession, fear, jealousy, or habit? No, I will not include love in the choices.
The same family that gave him an entertainment company and let him do what he wanted for six years? His family…
Your feelings are totally justified. Perhaps you are just a more forgiving person than me. It is just when JJ's brother went to hammer him (we do not see much of his other family), when JJ went to see HJ with the information (coincidentally finding the father which was something that HJ could not do in years and years and why did he even suspect the lawyer might be the father?), and then appear to risk his life to save her, it just so convenient in one episode to try to erase everything that happened in the previous ones. I blame the writers, not the characters or viewers. With IH running into the street, it also undermines any sort of growth that she might have had (or seemed capable of) and reinforces how much she wanted to get away. I would also accept a happy ending in which the trio (HJ, IH, and JJ) acknowledged the past together, accepted their present situation, and went on their future paths SEPARATELY.
I have to keep reminding myself to not get my hopes up. This is a Korean drama. They are notorious for getting draggy (and trope-filled in an unwelcome way) in the middle with a rush to happy ending in the last episode. For the title and plot, this is much better than I was expecting. mainly because of chemistry of the ML and FL and Lee Hye Ri herself. I am all for drama and even some relationship drama, but I hope they save all of the crazy, dragged out stuff (for lack of a better word) for the plot and not the relationship.
I feel so sorry for JJ. I just can't hate him... after watching ep 14 I hope he has a happy end too. His family…
The same family that gave him an entertainment company and let him do what he wanted for six years? His family may have played a part in his behavior, but he is responsible for all his actions, as toxic as they are. And in episode 14? I am all for a redemption arc, but instead of trying to be original, they just used the same old recycled tropes. His happy ending should be nothing more than getting the psychological help he needs. No glory and no girl.
Why isn’t Choi Tae Joon in more roles? I want to watch another one of his drama!
He has been in plenty of roles, just not as the male lead. I have seen him in several dramas, but usually as a second male lead. He did alright as the ML here (considering he did not have to sing and dance a lot), and deserves more consideration for other ML roles.
The ML is a highly trained member of the Chinese Special Forces with even more elite training from around the…
You think it is someone who posts on this page, or just collects the comments because it is convenient? Is it you trying to be a Zhou Ran? I am no Mi Gu. Just joking. Everyone but you is a suspect. I am pretty sure it is not me however. I sound nothing like that. So everyone but me and you here are suspects.

They used part of a few comments of mine. I checked another video, and it looks like they took comments from MDL too. I do read my comments, and I can see why they would use them. My comments are relevant, captivating, thought-provoking, eloquent, and just all around awesome.
ive been enjoying this so far but I have to say, I'm a bit tired of the emphasis on Dam's eating habits lol. Its…
I think it is mildly ironic that he does not eat (or does not need to) and she really enjoys herself. She is one of the few people I have seen that seem to do everything prettily.
Well it is a slow burn romance since Xia Chu still isn't sure about her feelings yet. It's actually understandable…
While it is obvious the ML likes the FL, his words and actions do not always show that. On the other hand, it is crystal clear that the FL really likes the ML. It was cute how giddy she was when she volunteered to go to the Special Forces Brigade for medical exams.
I have noticed one thing about Chinese dramas in general is that the day and night seem to hold no meaning. They…
Just finished 15&16, and anytime she looks like she is about to have a light bulb moment, all it takes is a look or gentle touch from Zhuo Ran to put her back into a trance. It is like someone put the answers to the quiz on the blackboard, and she is still filling in "C" as every answer.
Zhuo Ran is still obsessed with her, although I enjoy it when she gives him a disappointed look when he shows up and she is expecting LMZ.
I thought the FL knew LMZ's cousin had a parrot as a therapy animal (or maybe just a therapy animal). LMZ's cousin is just weird randomly passing out lost and found papers in the rain.
This is more of a piggyback and not a rebuttal...She never really came across as immature in the role of a doctor.…
It is obvious that the ML and FL bring out the best and worst in each other which I find charming. Even she is starting to wonder why she acts the way she does around him and why he has such an effect on her. ZR is still way too creepy right now. I am sure he will have his bad moments, but he seems more bad to the FL than anyone or anything else. I will not say it is a negative thing but it makes my skin crawl sometimes.
I hope they know exactly what is supposed to be wrong with LMZ's cousin (and she is portraying it accurately) or never name it. I have never seen or heard anyone acting like that. Will there be an arc with XC operating on her?
In the defense of the ML in You Are My Hero, Bruce Lee was 5-8/128 (so says my search engine) and extremely dangerous. The most decorated soldier in US history (Audie Murphy) was only 5-5/112 at enlistment. I thought the leads looked good together. I did see awkwardness, but I see the same thing when the ML is a foot taller than the FL and people seem to actively search for things like that. The ML in YAMH did have a boyish quality. I noticed the opposite here in MDG. The Lieutenant looks like he could be the ML's father (but he moves pretty fast).

Looks like Mi Gu is still being classic Mi Gu, and the FL (being the naive plot mover) has patched things up with her, and setting the male leads on a collision course by never accepting a coincidence as a doctor, but only seeing them as a person.

Of course the writer did not have an influence, but the drama was filmed recently. Studio executives, screenwriters, directors, stunt directors, etc. might have been influenced by the drama.

You are welcome. Some people think it is sacrilege to compare similar dramas to Descendants of the Sun. That drama (which I enjoyed personally) seemed to be polarizing, and perhaps if a potential viewer heard it was similar, they might think it was a clone (which it is not) and rush to judge one way or the other.
About My Dear Guardian, so far (up to episode 12), it has been a pretty breezy drama (easy watch) with what I feel has been a long introduction to the setting, characters, and plots. It is nearly a third of the way in and I expect the drama and romance to pick up soon. It already has a lot of action.
Is this supposed to be a Chinese remake of descendants of the sun (if know that drama)?? Or is the plot different…
No. It just has similar elements. Military, medical, romance, emergencies. You can even throw in the drama You Are My Hero too. It is similar except for police instead of military. It is like telling people to bake a cake. They might all use flour, eggs, butter, and sugar. But you can add an infinite number of other ingredients, and how you bake it, and decorate it makes it unique. Some may be close to the same, and some might be totally different. They are all still cakes. I must be hungry with my cake analogy.
I will say that it is likely that Descendants of the Sun had some influence on the dramas of the same genre that came after it.

I was not nitpicking. The original comment referenced the sudden day to night. Commenting on that subject, I said that it happens often in Chinese dramas. The generalization was more about the fact that a big deal is not made about transitions. I even suggested reasons why it may happen in the first place. It has never made a difference in whether I enjoy a drama or not. I am enjoying the drama and looking forward to the next episodes. Something in any drama would have to be egregious for me to make a comment that is critical in a harsh way. I try to be as fair as possible.
I love the drama so far and both leads have good chemistry. I love the combination of romance, action, and comedy…
This is more of a piggyback and not a rebuttal...
She never really came across as immature in the role of a doctor. She was head of surgery (or something like that) during the flood incident, and she was the top resident according to the department head and the jealous resident. Immature as a friend, roommate, daughter, or romantic partner is something you can make an argument for but not doctor.
The ML is cold in synopsis only. Sure he acts rough, cold, or indifferent for awhile, but when she needed him, he was there. He also went out of his way to make her happy and to keep her safe. Everybody has their own standards for acting, but I only really have issues with the "I shop and get styled from Bad Guys Department Store from the 80s" SML who would be less obvious of a bad guy if he wore a sign around his neck. He does have that creepy vibe about him down though so I would say his acting is okay.
As for the SFL, she seems okay in every other aspect except romance. If the standard of friendship or potential lover is someone who asks you about your best friend (and his high school ex that he wants to get back with), uses you to drug your best friend without her knowledge (giving someone Vitamin C without them knowing is just wrong), sees no problem with continually asking you to do things that a friend should not do (but he says it is okay so it must be right?), and oh, is a criminal and killer (he always seems to fail to mention that), then he ticks all the boxes. If it were not for the fact that she is a SFL in a 40 episode drama (and not a Lifetime movie) and he might (might) need a redemption arc, she would definitely be killed or get herself killed along the way.
I think flaws exist in every drama, and this one is no exception. If you like the drama, the flaws seem to be minor and do not matter, but if you do not like it, the flaws seems glaring and you should probably find something else to watch.
