I think I could be ok with an ending where XLH doesn't revive and CH and DFQC grow old together as besties so they won't be alone. It's not the ideal ending but it's one I can accept.

The female characters in untamed were quite well written. A pity they all died so the male characters can shine -_- Long Ballad wasn't too bad either.

I recently watched Sword and Fairy 7 which is a game on the playstation and it's xian xia genre. The main female character was smart and proficient and she played the shijie role to the aloof male lead.

I think the closest Jin Yong wuxia female character in recent times would be Bai Feng Xi from WRTW but that character is from ideal.

I must say the writer is really good at pulling off those red herrings. The tianjin mirror, Jie Li's betrayal. I will be disappointed if she doesn't do it this time.

It's a good way to resolve the conflict tho. But chinese scriptwriters usually take the simplest route. Something like that is too complicated for a romance focused show.

I don't think CH will be sad because he respects XLH feelings. He will be sad because he has to depose his brother.

XLH isn't the type to seek revenge but she knows there will be no peace in the three realms with a ruler like Lord Yun Zhong so she might go along with it.
