The novel is not really relevant because DFQC and XLH have totally different personalities from the show. DFQC in the novel is a scoundrel and treated her badly, but XLH has stockholm syndrome and cannot help falling in love with him. They also spend some time as two souls sharing DFQC's body. So as you can see it's very different from the show.

I think my favourite parts of today's episode was Shang Que swinging his arm passionately to salute XLH and almost punching her in the face. And their happy discussion about Jie Li not extorting money from them. I wish we had more interactions from my favourite dumb dumbs.
