In the historical context, he already has an official wife and he can take on other concubines as well, but the ML is based on a king who was well known for his love story with the FL, the court maid who became his most beloved concubine. And obviously in this drama the focus is gonna be on the romance between the ML and FL.
If she gives birth to a son, he will have a right to the throne (esp if the son is the oldest among the king’s children) A concubine was definitely a respectable position, most people had to pay respects to them since they were considered royalty. Of course this also depends on the concubine’s rank.
Yes esp now we know the head court lady’s motivations it is a bit overdone and feels like a different drama…
Just hoping the next eps won’t be like this. Most ppl are watching for the romance or leads anyway. So far the political stuff has been ok and ties in well with the rest of the story. Really hope that the head court lady’s schemes don’t take up too much time. I’d rather they show us deokim and her court lady friends working or playing or smth lol
