I'm very new to this drama, can someone explain what her life will be like as a concubine? Can he take other concubines…
In the historical context, he already has an official wife and he can take on other concubines as well, but the ML is based on a king who was well known for his love story with the FL, the court maid who became his most beloved concubine. And obviously in this drama the focus is gonna be on the romance between the ML and FL.

If she gives birth to a son, he will have a right to the throne (esp if the son is the oldest among the king’s children) A concubine was definitely a respectable position, most people had to pay respects to them since they were considered royalty. Of course this also depends on the concubine’s rank.

I agree with you. It is exaggerated. I understand the aspect of a righteous thought defining jealousy bt the way…
Also especially since yeongjo isn’t some weak king - how did this secret court lady society survive when his own son didn’t…

Yes esp now we know the head court lady’s motivations it is a bit overdone and feels like a different drama…
Just hoping the next eps won’t be like this. Most ppl are watching for the romance or leads anyway. So far the political stuff has been ok and ties in well with the rest of the story. Really hope that the head court lady’s schemes don’t take up too much time. I’d rather they show us deokim and her court lady friends working or playing or smth lol

Anyone else feel like that whole Fairy Court scene was a bit over-the-top? It felt like I was suddenly watching…
Yes esp now we know the head court lady’s motivations it is a bit overdone and feels like a different drama altogether

Ok at least the ending of ep 8 is not some crazy cliff hanger (unlike last week!!!!!). It’s a fitting ending to wrap up the first half of the show. At least I can work in peace this week without this drama living in my mind rent free.

Now the head court lady is just reduced to a petty villain 😭 she’s doing this all out of revenge smh, she’s the real crazy one out here. But then again the pettiest people come up with the most elaborate schemes, so it’s not like it doesn’t make sense.

I just wished she wasn’t such a clear cut “bad” character, previously her morals and motivations were more grey and it added to the political intrigue.

what's the meaning of the blue sleeve?
1. Make CP jealous - another man gave her the sleeves
2. Red sleeeves means she’s a court lady and belongs to the king (and also cp, who will eventually be king), covering it could have a more abstract meaning meaning - deokim wants to have a own life and freedom, and not be bound by a life where she has no power to make her own choices. (This was kind of the theme of ep 7, that she has her own will and thoughts)

Yeppp she’s so lucky she wasn’t caught with that
She’ll always be in danger, as long as she’s with him 😂

Well it’s mainly for the drama plot I guess? It would be evidence that she was the one who saved the CP when he was young instead of deokro.

I wonder when and how they are gonna do a time skip… maybe they’ll just compress the timeline instead?

I’m glad that at the halfway point the plot is still intact. I love this, thank you for making this drama, it might be my favourite one ever. 😭 I started watching my first kdrama 10 years ago, and it was an mbc historical drama (dong yi) so I feel like the red sleeve is the perfect drama to celebrate 10 years of kdrama loooll

Youth of May gave me trauma though. So when I see heart fluttering scenes, specially heaps of it in the early…
Youth of may was fluffy cute rom com in the first half and a political tragedy in the second
