After ep 4, I am confused about Head Court Lady Jo's intention. I thought she is secretly supporting the Crown…
same here i wonder what her intentions are. i hope they build her up to be a really complex character. there's no way we can infer her intentions from all her scenes so far since her actions are all so conflicting and vague. i hope she has a good back story and reason for wanting to depose the crown prince. my guess would be that she suffered at the hands of yi san's father. maybe a palace maid she was close to died because of yi san's father? there were talks of him killing palace staff during his manic episodes. although im not sure if the drama will mention this given accurate historical portrayal has been a pretty touchy subject of late... lol esp when it comes to real historic figures
i just read that the lead roles were initially offered to someone else. i'm so glad that ultimately the leads are lee junho and lee seyoung!! what a good match of characters and their chemistry together is just... the cherry on top. lee junho is so cool lol i got kinda annoyed at some of the stuff he said to deok im in ep 4 but honestly his regal presence is making me forgive the trash comin out of that mouth hahaha
Ep 3 and Hong Deok Ro is sick in the head. Did he just smirk when he said if there were a few casualties it would…
he seems to be the ambitious type. and honestly based on ep 4 i dont think he actually cares much about the crown prince, he just sees the crown prince as a way for him to wield power.
the thing that caught me off guard the most was when he was speaking to deok im in the rain. he asked deok im why the CP would try to fool her and she replied that the CP probably found it fun to tease a palace maid. i got the chills when deok ro said that he didnt know that the CP could do such a thing and that he should've at least expected it once. idk but to me this is when deok ro realises that the the CP could be distracted by romance lololol. and the ending of ep 4 furthers the idea that deok ro would view cp's liking towards deokim would be an obstacle to the CP and ultimately deok ro's gaining of power.
Yes, the princess wants to depose yi san and to have her adopted son to become the crown princeEdit: i am sorry,…
its impossible for her adopted son to be crown prince. He's not from the Yi family and children of princesses did not have the right to the crown. but yes, she definitely wants to depose yi san
should i be concerned about the outfit she's wearing? cuz yi san was very worked up to see her like that...i mean…
Yeah looks like a ceremonial outfit. Maybe it’s her coming of age ceremony or a ceremony to officiate her becoming an official palace maid? But the head gear kinda looks like a concubines ceremonial outfit too lol. Maybe a korean history expert can enlighten us
Is there some sort of subtle power struggle between the queen and princess hwawan? Lol. The princess seems like she wants to monopolise the king’s attention tbh
ep 4 really just shows deok im being caught in the middle of everything bcos of the cp. (not necessarily the cp's fault but she is being caught in this power struggle because she's associated with him) honestly she felt like a pawn in the second half of this ep
Real talk its distinctly non romantic if you actually sit down and think about it: Deok Im has no real agency…
i have a feeling that the show is gonna explore this theme that deok im has no real agency. from the synopsis, ep 4 and ep 5's preview, deok im says she can only do as she's ordered to and she seems to resent the CP for ordering her around lol. so the fact that she has no real agency as a palace maid also bothers her. maybe that might be a reason why she rejects him, if she ever, in this drama?
Not really any English sources saying this. Most of them are in korean I guess
i watched a youtuber reviewing the book and she described the male lead as "the worst ever" lol... so im really hoping the drama will do its own thing because im here for the romance asdfghjk. i havent personally read the book or know the plot tho...
