I agree! I don’t really like that they seem to have a “history” they both forgot. I loved the enemies to lovers trope in the novel and they started as equals! In the drama Chu Kong is too mighty and xiangyun is always begging and groveling at his feet. I don’t really feel the disdain she had for him in the novel

It’s actually quite similar to what’s shown in the drama now

Honestly the I’m watching this for their tragic ends in most of the lifetimes. I love pain 💀💀

there was also a stone goblin in the novel right? But he only appeared in the second lifetime when the ML is a cultivator and FL is his disciple? ML takes out his heart and give it to the stone goblin iirc? And stone goblin reappears for a few of the lifetimes. I guess the stone goblin might play a pretty big role in the drama

NOVEL READERS

The drama starts a bit different from the novel, but I think their current life time as humans seem quite similar to their first lifetime in the novel. Overall pretty entertaining first 6 eps!

Their first lifetime should be wrapping up soon in the next few eps. Based on how ep 6 ended

Seems like in the drama the leads have a back story they seem to both have forgotten? And the FL seems to be more “powerful” too but just lost her memories?

Yeah I like that in the novel they were just “normal” immortals?? Meanwhile here chukong is some super important god of war lol. Also in the novel most of the plot was their lives in the mortal realm, but here it feels like they’ll focus a lot more on the immortal realms.
But the best part of the novel is that they really started off as enemies on relatively equal footing, but here xianyun is too lowly compared to chukong and she’s always begging for his mercy lol. Still not that I’m saying the drama is bad, I just preferred certain aspects of the novel

She’s just kinda childish
