I loved him already in ep4. I think he’s wonderful and refreshing. But of course he’ll change a lot and suffer…
He is happily watching and instigating her bullying just for his gain 😭 smirking on sidelines like get outta here man! I am glad to hear there some redemption somewhere

I find it the opposite, the beginning was rush and the ending gave a proper closure just wish they had more funding…
When I say rushed I mean instead of showing us the secrets unfold they just put chucks of monologue of someone explaining the story and it was just go go go. And I think why people care more about SML is because honestly not everyone needed to get a happy ending (I.e., second sister). SML got handed “you should be happy with your lot in life” even thought he technically deserved someone he truly loved and who loved him back (which was definitely not FL - but someone else) . Second sister didn’t repent enough for viewers to have much sympathy for her. I agree about ML’s brother. With how they introduced him, they should have continued to make him a bigger presence but instead someone who was made a bigger presence was the guard that emperor sent to make sure XIE Shu wasn’t killed. I don’t think he was necessary, instead they should have made this a bigger conflict between ML and ML’s brother and how they come to understand each other cause priorities are shifting tad bit.

finished the drama, and even though I watched the final episodes on 2x and skipped through (because, yes, it was so rushed), I'd still give it an 8/10 because of the start and how the story was set up.

At first I was like "What a greaaaaat show" then I was like, " Okay, this tug-of-war between ML and SML is getting too much." FL needs to decide already and in a quarter of ep 25 I just have three words to say: WTF is happening??

I'm still enjoying the little details this drama has been consistent with. I noticed Du Biatch sits in a very…
I loved that she came back. She was as evil as she left. And yeah, she got a man obsessed with her. That blood scene gave me cringe, but it was good way to get the message across about his loyalty and craziness for her

I loved all that cinematography in this show! How the seasons were shown to be changing and time passing when all the ladies were randomly walking and wearing different clothes. And the absolute masterpiece imo was how Lin Jinqi saw his political path if he continued this way. It was so cool

What a bittersweet ending…I couldn’t understand…did the 2nd sister was the one asked xieshun to come to…
The second sister thought he was coming to tell her brother that he is the one who saved her. and just basically introduce himself so he can write to her when he went and travels the world. She didn't clock it when he said "i need 10 days to prepare"... or whatever.

I wished for Lin grandfather to find out about FL's true identity (even at his end so he could regret it for leaving…
i was honestly waiting for her to explode at ML for leaving her back then, and I wanted it to be communicated, but she never did and it kinda randomly came to light to him. I wish that was more dramatic, but it also doesn't fit her character. This girl never dwelled on his side of the past too much

Title Against the Current Spoiler
When people started falling like dominoes, i was tearing up every episode.

The Du lady villain comeback was everything! She was evil and scary at the start, mass murdering people, and she was scary till the end with her sidekick. I liked that consistency.

My very first ship was Third Sister and Marquise, and I was so happy for them, but what a twist they threw at the end! I was honestly sad about that whole concubine situation. I thought he would not fold under pressure, but unfortunately not everyone can be like the ML. It was realistic, but it still made me sad and disappointed since I was rooting for them and she really liked him. I don't quite understand what she did at the end with the family, though.

Second sister and Duke Xi's son! That ship honestly made me feel good. It's like reinforcing the fact: what's yours will always find you, though it may take some time.

The message about the unsteady emperor and how no matter what, too much power is not good was something I really liked and was refreshing compared to some other cdramas. The lesson for ML to get out of the political mess ASAP was honestly a surprising turn in the story and really nice to me. Poor Scholar Han!!!

xiao ling and nan ke!! SOOO cute. Took long enough to make them a couple

ML low-key died young, like whyyy 😭 but man was evergreen, and I am SOOO glad he loudly acknowledged her real name. The red string secen was very nice

Overall, a great show. 8.5/10

Title The First Jasmine Spoiler
on episode 6: guys everyone on the mountain is dead right? Whenever she keeps going on about how well everyone is doing, I am like, "Why are we not getting faces to these names" and the fact she see's her maid (who is clearly dead). Is she so traumatized that she thinks everyone is still alive, or is she basically trying to save everyone the pain of knowing, so she is just being untruthful?

It's intentional. The color grading, aesthetics, colours.. everything's muted here. And, very minimal filters…
Gotcha. it was giving older historical drama vibes so I had to make sure i wasnt tripping lol

on episode 1: I am not sure if this is because I am coming back to CDrama after a bit of a break but is the video quality different? It seems grainy? (Intentionally shot like that?) Or maybe it's the lighting. I am not sure but something is off. There is some sort of texture/darkness to everything.

Yes! I lost interest when they started shifting more and more to the capital, and then the points were just skipping…
I wished the showed the kids instead of taking up good chunk of time for alternative ending

He didn't kill them though. (Not that he's not a psycho - he very much is, never stopped. He and the other crazy…
She made me annoyed. She kept giving the dummy prince all types of chances but did not give the empror any care when he was much tamer than Qi Min and honestly, he gave her some very valuable lessons about her brattiness and honestly, HER OWN CHOICES lol. I felt so bad for him at the end. He said he would never beg, and then he begged for her and their unborn baby's life :(

Totally agree about FH ending. lessened the remeberbility of the drama for me

What is Qian Qian real identity ?
Ohh! CPR, even though it was around, but even the academy dude didn't know much about it (in this drama's context), but he heard about it once and she just knew so well, so I think that, plus, of course, the resuscitation would not be common.

When she was first introduced, even I was surprised she had a kid but no husband in sight. But now that I think more on this, I remember she used to tell Bao'er he is destined for greatness, so I think she lowkey knew something was up in the future. Or else why would you tell ur son that when you are literally trying to hide his identity and live a normal life.

Was the dethroned empy acting with losing his mind- just to survive??? Made me curious when the Grand Princess…
I don't think so. He was a weak emperor since the start, and all the pressure, and I guess the torture, got to him. So I think he was already hanging by a thread, and then he snapped (his confidant, the eunuch, was killed in front of him too). They built him up such a weak character, so I don't think he was faking it.

It was a plot designed to get Wei Yan away from the besieged city and the Crown Prince. The Emperor obviously…
OH! with how the emperor acted like I didn't realize he set it all up. Great actor lol
