Some thoughts on this drama... *Only read if you have finished or are close to finishing*
1. I was in a modern C-drama slump, but this one single-handedly cured that.... ML's character development and the actor's portrayal of it were just amazing! He started off cold, and the actor perfectly showed it, and as he got more involved with her, the actor's portrayal was so good. Both ML and FL did so amazingly.
2. FL's hairstyle changed after she was in love!!! Hairy theory!!!
3. Maybe I am the only one, but I feel like they moved away too fast from the best friend's ex-husband. I for sure thought he was going to come into to play again, but nope, she moved on too, which I was honestly surprised about. But if you think about it, their relationship was very taxing on each other. He was consistently apologizing for missing or being late or whatever, and she was letting it go.
I had hoped she would acknowledge that kiss was a misunderstanding or whatever, but they were breaking from the start and needed to leave each other. So amicably end stuff, but I guess not.
4. SML was perfectly portrayed. At times I even thought he might be in the lead and they would add a reciprocal love triangle, but our FL was very smitten with her man lol.
5. The men's outfits in this show were TOP FREAKING NOTCH from the VR to IRL!
6. ML's mom doesn't really deserve much grace imo. She didn't even show the anger ML's dad deserved!! She wasn't even a little bit curious her whole life and just took things as they were. Also, why did she even end up with her husband's business partner?? Like, what's the lore behind that??
Overall, the last time i was this obsessed with a drama and was searching up every edit of the couple was Prisoner of Beauty, The Best Thing, and WBDB, and now this! I am so in love with them and how well the actors portrayed their characters. I love how steady they both were, but careful going into the relationship. And once they were dating, it was all in!! 10/10 drama
Finished. I 100% watched a lot of scenes on 2x or just skipped through the political mumbo jumbo. A few points about the drama:
1. There were schemes and betrayals at every turn, which were expected and unexpected. I honestly didn't get exactly why Awu was so so loved, and then suddenly everyone loved her but also hated her, but then switched back to loving her. Like this off-and-on switch had me confused in their sincerity, but I guess that was the mind game writers were playing with the audience too.
2. It should have had 10 fewer episodes and a cleaner ending. What happened to Awu's bodyguard, Gu Ping?
3. The tears shed for the last dude (who shall not be named for spoiler purposes) were so UNDESERVED. I wish XQ said no to his last request.
4. I actually found the last episode (first 20 mins) funny. it was one long speech, then stab, and another long speech and stab lol
5. In my opinion, the empress should have gone earlier
6. There needed to be more romantic/emotional reactions between leads. I don't think i was satisfied by many of Awu's reactions with finding XQ
I would give this 8.5 because the casting for characters, THE DRESSESSES OF AWU, and just the variety of sets they filmed on was soooo good!!
before was 8.3 but now 8.0?? some being dramatic?? think about overall not only last ep??
Definitely. I don't understand why people have become so allergic to clichés, as these troops keep you coming back and make these dramas a light-hearted watch.
so he just gonna let his dad slap her ass??? he just lost all his appeal after that smh
i was mad too but later thought, "What exactly can he do (given his social and familial standing) now that she has been slapped?" he can't possibly hit him, cause thats the ceo and his father. Honestly, I couldn't come up with an answer myself. He did make sure his dad didn't come back indirectly, so I guess that works too.
I am seriously baffled by all the extreme negativity about this drama. Why does everyone expect so much from a…
yep, i dont get the steep rating drop either. I honestly feel like this was a bit below 'business proposal' with all its cliches and execution, but again, with how the tone was set, i expected all the cliches to happen (except the amnesia one, but its okay lol it's a K-drama) Business proposal was similar to this, so I expected nothing deep. The chemistry was really really good tho
Okay, I am on episode 8 now and and I’m just waiting for FM to finally find out that the FL isn’t married.…
i was worried about the ending with how fast the rating was dropping but i m glad I finished it. I personally dont think it was as terrible. There were definitely slow and drag on moments but with all the cliches they thre at you, i didnt expect anything else.
It's super disappointing bc this show had so much potential and pulled in so many fans in the first half. This…
there were credits? oh gosh, i need to watch!
Same i don't think it was as terirble as how fast the rating dropped. i still enjoyed the cliches cause i was not expecting some very deep-meaning drama honestly.
Considering how quickly the rating was declining, I thought the last episodes were so bad. However, they were fine. Yes, i did find it getting boring in the middle and slow, but it's not so terrible for it to go down like this. Few of my thoughts:
1. I think the villain was introduced too late. and honestly, sister was not a good enough villain sidekick so that half of the story was lacklustre.
2. ML's sister was definitely in a toxic relationship so even if I hated her, i really couldn't. She needed more in her story. They definitely could have restored the sibling relationship.
3. Unpopular opinion, but i think Ha-yeon could do so much better than Seon-U. I think he needs to find himself before he starts another relationship because he is just not ready to move on from Da-rim
4. Amnesia was unnecessary, but whatever it was, short-lived lived and this is a K-drama...
5. I loved the absolute torment they showed ML (and Ki Yong's acting) going through when he thought she was married, and he was basically a homewrecker. And that karaoke scene one day before the engagement really made me feel.
6. Yes, a lot of tropes were so cliche but so were the tropes in Business Proposal and I liked that show too, so i didn't mind whatever they threw at us because it was all a laugh or an eye roll, but i didnt expect some deeeep meanings anywhere lol.
Overall - I am glad i didn't stop after i saw the rating dropped because i don't regret watching it. It was a good show with a strong start. I started off by giving it 9/10 and dropping it to 8.4 but again a relly good watch.
it’s funny how people are defending her after everything when she’s as bad as the others. she should have…
It's actually quite poetic. it was shown throughout the drama that she had such a strong will to live and would do anything for it. So the fact that even in the end she gave the middle finger to ML and walked off.... she is a WEED. Her current husband was truly the best option for her
They both lived and paid for it one way or another.
