In the novel, both Xu Qin and Song Yan knew that it was Ye Zi who was responsible for the scam incident. I am not sure if that was revealed in the show. This is the problem reading and watching at the same time!

@Saydoo Totally agree! She was manipulative right from the start. Her main goal was money. When she packed up to leave the dorm the writers seem to want to redeem her but I am not buying it. What she did out of spite to MYC was wrong. He should have sued her. Maybe it is because she is so young and he wanted to give her a chance to turn her life around. But even if she did, he deserves much better. I liked when Xu Qin told him to live for himself. His nature makes him try to protect others the way he protected Xu Qin. I could see Xu Qin was really upset about what happened to MYC. I think in the final 2 episodes she tells him she could not imagine not having him in her life or something like that. Maybe I read that in the book.

Do you mean he is a product of his mother's control just like Xu Qin is? They both find their way out by the end of the show. I am not sure what you mean but he is not a copy of his mother at all.

She went after him and put herself in his path whenever possible. He said he wanted to help her but he should have stayed far away from her.

Song Yan's family is wonderful.

He knew she was only interested in money. But for some reason he wanted to help her. He is a really nice guy. I do not find him "creepy." He kept it all in until he finally stood up to his mother. I hope there is a show for Yan Chen and he finds love. He doesn't need to worry about Xu Qin anymore because she has Song Yan.

I literally just said the same thing about YeZi. I also said I would love to see Yan Chen's story but not with Ye Zi. Loved everything you said! I can see Yan Chen with someone with the personality of Song Yan's cousin. He needs that. A spunky girl with a great heart is what he needs.

Ye Zi liked him for his money. But at the end the show made it seem as if she really fell for him. But that is not love. Definitely not after what she did to him. I never liked her but actually felt a little sad for her when she had to leave school. I want Yan Chen to end up with someone much better. Song Yan's sister would be good for him. She has spunk! It might be strange though . But I can see him falling in love with someone like Song Yan's sister.

I don't get your point. What is the purpose of posting these articles and what do you mean by "they doing this." Who is "they?" Do you think these articles are a true depiction of the Chinese as a whole? I don't know about any hate toward Yang Yang or the reasons. Are you saying the show was not well received in China due to some dislike of Yang Yang. Even so, the articles you posted are irrelevant to the issue.

I have been a fan of Wang Churan since Have a Crush On You. And I also love watching Yang Yang and really love him as Song Yan. But I don' t feel the same about Yan Chen the way you do. I hope you will keep an open mind as I express my opinions. The first time I saw him with Xu Qin, I did get an uneasy feeling due to the fact that she sees him as a brother. But as I watched the show, I came to see him in a different light and I don't feel what he really feels for her is romantic love. He loves her for being her. She was a breath of fresh air to him when she was adopted into the family. They both felt they had to be perfect for the mother. And while Yan Chen felt he had to do as his mother said, he did defy her in subtle ways to help Xu Qin. The first time was when he saved Xu Qin's stuffed animal that his mother threw into the garbage. He was protective of Xu Qin. You can see how he supported her even by sitting with her while she carved wood.

In the later episodes, we see Yan Chen questioning his mother's behavior toward Xu Qin. He told her to stop trying to control Xu Qin. The final straw was when he found out what his mother did to Song Yan. He saw Xu Qin's pain and when she broke the family photo, in a sense it shattered that cocoon he had built around them against the mother. Yan Chen was going to take responsibility for what his mother did if she did not turn herself in. Not once did we see his character do anything as underhanded as his mother's actions. Instead, there were many indications of his kind and considerate nature.

Sometimes, first impressions are hard to change. And while I can understand how you got your impression of Yan Chen, I saw much more as the show progressed and I feel he is a good guy. He is more than just a good guy. He has a depth of character and it is not evil. I would like to see his story but not with Ze Yi. As he said, Ze Yi underestimated his intelligence and overestimated hers. I knew he was not fooled by her. As we come to the final 2 episodes, it is satisfying to see my perception of Yan Chen's character become more evident.
I don't even want to get into Ye Zi's character because I did not like her at all. But I did feel sorry for her because she looked remorseful when talking to Song Yan's sister. Ye Zi's character is not good enough for Yan Chen. When she accused him of rape, it showed her weak character. He deserves much better. She is lucky he decided not to sue her.

Well, this is getting long so I will stop. I love this show. It could be because I love seeing Yang Yang with Wang Churan. But I also the other characters. There were some filler episodes, but I still rated this show a 10.

He thought she got in because of her family. And he also felt she lacked what it takes to be a great doctor emotionally. Not sure if I am saying it right. But I can see he is one of those people who is gruff on the outside but kind on the inside.

This is a great show. They do have a lot of filler scenes . I love the FL in this show. Have you seen Hidden Love? It is unique and just so full of sweetness. I highly recommend!

He will. There is a part where he asked his mother to stop trying to control Xu Qin and his mother asked if he wasn't sure he was asking for himself. Once he realized that Xu Qin was safe and happy with Song Yan, he started to let go. It is unfortunate that some viewers do not see the depth of his character and the fact that both he and Xu Qin supported each other during all those years under the control of the mother. I can only imagine as an only child how MYC felt when Xu Qin entered the family and he had someone he protected and who gave him emotional support. Once Xu Qin became involved with Song Yan, he knew his mother was going to make life really hard for Xu Qin. I am sure he felt afraid because he seemed to just want to avoid his mother's anger not just for himself, but for Xu Qin also. This is why he once asked her to go abroad with him. I wish everyone had a happy ending in the show. MYC deserves his own happy ending. I would like to think that somewhere down the road, MYC found someone who loves him as much as he loved her. I do not like the girl who was just after him for his money.

Her brother has been helping her since the day they picked her up from the orphanage. But I know what you are asking and yes. Xu Qin's brother found out what the mother did to Song Yan and he has finally had enough because in ep 34 he told her he wished he had never been born into the family. This was his answer to his mother when she got on his case for helping Xu Qin leave the house knowing Song Yan was waiting out in the cold. You will see when you watch ep 33.

I read the novel and I totally agree that Yang Yang did an awesome job of portraying Song Yan. He goes from a serious Song Yan to a playful Song Yan. I can see the character described in the novel with Yang Yang's portrayal.
