I personally did not see any good chemistry between. All I saw was YZ going after MYC for his money.

I was not surprised at all by MYC. The link he has with Xu Qin has more to do with surviving life with the mother than anything else. There were many instances where I could see he stepped between Xu Qin and his mother. He did not know what his mother did to Song Yan, and when he did find out, it pushed him to stand up to her. She was shocked!

I agree. I do feel he was against Song Yan at first because he was afraid his mother would do something that would hurt Xu Qin. It was only in the first episode that I was not sure about MYC. Afterwards I was touched when I saw the flashbacks of how he took her stuffed animal out of the trash because he knew it meant a lot to her. He went against his mother in his own way. Then more and more I could see he protected her any way he could. It was good to see him tell his mother exactly what he felt about the family.

I read the book too. Xu Qin did not want to change her name but MYC told her to do it. I think he tried to avoid conflicts between Xu Qin and his mother and this is why he told her to just do it. As we can see in ep 33 that he helps her whenever possible and when he mother admonished him for helping Xu Qin, he said he wished he had rebelled in the past. I don't get the hate he is getting. Also, the fact that she was bullied while in the orphanage explains why she was so afraid of not doing what the foster mother wanted her to do. It was MYC who gave her emotional support when she was young girl.

In addition, there was a part of her that would not give up on her dream.

Extra scene in episode 13 will forever be one of my favorite scenes!

Yes! I rewatched scenes and full episodes during the time we were waiting for more episodes. I rewatched at least 5 times. There is nothing like this. show. I do not fast forward at all.

It should definitely be a 10! It is unique. I keep rewatching.

The brother is not the one who hurt Song Yan. He was innocent in this and only found out after he heard Xu Qin. He has a kind heart and from I can see in the released episodes, he does let go. His attachment with Xu Qin has more to do the bond they formed surviving in that family and he helped her in the past and in the present. Xu Qin does love her ge ge. The mother and YZ are the most unlikeable in the show for me. I would not want the brother to end up with the girl who was only after his money. He deserves to be happy after all he has gone through with his family.

There are some sweet scenes once they get back together. For some reason no kisses towards the end but from what I can see there are still some emotional love scenes.

I don't think it was mentioned in the earlier episodes. Her real mother caused a fire that killed both XQ's parents. In the book she was sent to an orphanage and was mocked by the students at her school because she no longer had a driver to drop her off at school. Her adoptive father was friends with her biological father and the Meng's adopted her. She liked her adoptive father but was afraid of the mother and tried to be perfect for fear that she would be sent back to the orphanage. We do see from flashbacks that the brother helped her during these times and she was good for him also. You will see in later episodes from flashbacks what happened to her parents.

In the beginning I was not sure about the brother. But I began to see there was much more to him than meets the eye. I liked him for the way he protected XQ from the mother when they were children. And even in the later episodes we see him speaking up for XQ with the mother. The part where he told his mother he wished XQ was never adopted into the family was because of the way the mother treated her and hurt her. Then when he said he wished he was never born into the family showed he also suffered under her control. In a sense, XQ helped him survive the mother's control as much as he helped XQ. And there lies his need to hold on to her. But I can also see he wants XQ to be happy. I am not trying to convince you as I can see you are already set in your dislike for the brother. And you are certainly entitled to your own reaction. I can understand that also.

I never thought that. Did not like her from the start. Watch her expressions when the conversation is about rich men.

Once you come to understand her background and their past history, you will like her. They share a once in a lifetime love. Song Yan helped Xu Qin find happiness when they were in high school and college made her love him in a way she will never love anyone else.

She was never nice. Everything she did was calculated for her benefit.

He has always been protective of Xu Qin. From flashbacks you can see there were many times he helped her get through the pains of being controlled by the mother. What he feels for her has a lot to do with the way they came to depend on each other living in that house. I am not sure now if I read it in the book or saw it in the show, but by refusing to take over his father's group and sticking with his division of the business, he found his own form of independence in the same way Xu Qin did when she became a doctor. I hope he finds his own happiness eventually. He is not a bad person.

In episode 30, the rooftop garden shown is not at Song Yan's uncle's house. This is the house he bought for Xu Qin 10 years ago. Based on the novel, he used money from his father. I think it must be in the historical area mentioned by Xu Qin in ep 32 as being too expensive now.
