I had a hard time understanding why and how she could fall for an antagonist like CP. But now, I understood that she chose to love him. And that's weird because she is a righteous and impartial character. I am surprised she never noticed how shaddy he was.

You have a fair point about the use of dialogues.
However, I think, that might be because the investigation is complex with several sub-plots. I guess they couldn't film every thing in 40 episodes. If the budget is low. I did not notice it, so in my views they kept the illusion from me very well.
We don't have those great slow burn drama we had since the censorship. It is a pity. Because they have to cut scenes. I guess they did here too.
I sensed it with the relationship between Shen Du and the Dowager. There is some scene missing between them. Especially at the end.

The harsh arc could have lasted a little more if we had more than 32 episodes. I heard some viewers complaining about that.

LOL . Yes @AngieeLe. My open letter to Luo mei, who is a ficticious character serves to expose the fact that, I believe that Luo Mei was used by the Crown Prince. He is an antagonist that we knew of since episode 1 and we feared of as well.
To my understanding, thanks to the recollection of his actions. I consider that he my be believing that he loves her, but he loves her in a twisted way.
So basically he uses her.
When you start the drama, pay attention to the way CP approaches Luo Mei. Does this seems to be seductive or manipulative?
You will know if it is manipulation or love.

Luo Mei was bethroted to Prince Jing her childhood unrequited love, but she never did anything to seduce him. She even lied to him, telling him that she will never marry anyone. Did she think that, doing so she could lower his barriers and get close to him. Maybe...

As for the abuse, indeed, their is severe abuse in the first 3 episodes but their is also a play . It's to say that the characters appear to do things that they don't in reality.
It is a great drama. I don't like violence,especially toward women, however I appreciate KMLM. So I recommend you watch it.
Indeed, the actor who playsPrince Jing is great in this role. I did not know him. he blew me away with this role.

Yes, they have to be trained to do those incredible things and trust the crew. Security is top notch because there is no accidents.

I did not read the novel but I disliked how Luo Mei fell for CP and jeopardized her family's legacy. But the drama is not finished.
Will she be able to regain the emperor's favor?
Where is the city she 's been demoted to?
Maybe a the border with Xiyan. I have the hunch that YQ will start a war with great Yan if he becomes king. Luo Mei could be at the forfront.

It is even sadder to think about all the suffering you went through, when, you witnessed what a playboy MRJH became after Qinzhou massacre.
However, you were lucky to be bethroted to the one you loved.
Meanwhile, you never confessed your love to him. At least, you could dream for a while.
So, for someone who never knew romantic love, I understand that you were hungry for love.

But, please, Luo Mei, all that glitters isn't gold.

This is not because Crown Prince is showering you with what appears to be love, that it really is love.
Love must be felt, not rationnalized.

How did this murderer seduced you ?

First, he tried to catch your attention, whenever he could. And at the same time he leveraged your compassion. For example faking a wound during horse ridding. Were you seduced then: No.

Then he tried to spoil you with gifts that you disregarded on the spot. You didn't even check those welcoming gifts. Were you seduced then : No.

And then, the murderer tried to bride you with an imperial edict, stating that he will let you keep your military power if ever you became his Crown Princess. Was it true, heck no, because, before officially marrying him, that assassin had already demoted you from your position of general of Pingnan army. Were you seduced then: No.

After that, the scoudrel tried to be alone with you and confess his so-called love. At the hunt, at the palace... Everytime he confessed you rejected him harshly. Were you seduced then : No.

Now, tell me why on earth, did you accept this murderer when :

He schemed to have you read all his writings in the temple he built especially to gaslight you.
Were you seduced: unfortunately yes.

Didn't you know that your aunt, the noble consort wanted to marry you with him? Why didn't it strike you as a lie when the two of them cornered you in that temple?

I won't mention the aphrodiziac incense incident. Were you that clueless not to recognize the poison as a high ranking general that you are, and flee the premises. And again, the same complicites cornered you in a room full of drug, but still you decided to fall for this trap, starting to kiss that murderer?

This is were we see that your love for the Crown Prince is not ginuine but it is based on your reasonning. You were rejected by Prince Jing and you surrender to the Crown Prince like a man thown overboard would grab anything not to sink.

Does the Crown Prince love you? This man only gives love that kills. He only utilizes people around him and he kills them when they are not useful anymore.

I pity you Luo Mei.
You deserve better, but you settled for the worst.

No the buget is not pathetic, they only have 40 episodes to air the drama.

Good acting is not about facial expressions, it is about how the audience feels. This is very personal.

"The Double" is a beautiful introduction to Chinese aesthetics as well as a bridge leading to it, for opera and theater enthusiasts.
The crew did such a great work of research for this drama. It is as beautiful to watch than it is meaningful.

My favourite scene is the death of Princess Waning.
The scene is so tragic and aesthetically beautiful at the same time. The climax it represents is just perfect.
I compare it to the death of Crown Prince Murong Xuanlie in KMLM. The pacing, the color palette, the meaningful details, the use of the silence...
I felt the tragedy, watching at those scenes and started to pity the antagonists.
