It's been a long since i watched this drama but i think i remember when jenny drank a wine/champagne on the beach in last episode after she got her revenge on the jung hyuk's mom she still wore a ring, i think her feelings for jung hyuk was a romantic one at first before she caught jung hyuk with another man but she chose to protect him indicating her feelings for him very strong even it's not a romantic feelings anymore that's why i called it unconditional love :) and yes i agree with you for jung hyuk jenny might be his soulmate (platonic soulmate)

If they don't put soyong's consciousness as a big role in sobong emotions/feelings towards the king in the series how they gonna make a 100% straight man jang bonghwan to open up for the king then? In the first episode sobong clearly didn't like the king at all and decided to siding with andong kim clan and will continue to live as his true identity jang bonghwan, he would made queen cheorin as a lesbian queen if soyong's consciousness didn't interfere him, in the original novel they just the man's soul accepted his new identity as a woman from the start and make that man's soul to fall in love with the colossal scumbag crown prince with the plot he got used to crown prince "love" after constantly getting raped and being mistreated by the coldhearted colossal scumbad crown prince without any help from the real crown princess memory or consciousness that's how they make the man's soul fell in love with the crown prince, i don't want that to happened to sobong so i like how they used soyong's consciousness to stir up bonghwan's feelings for the king, but it's not just because of the writer lack in giving sobong a proper ending, it was because it's korean national tv channel that's why they can't give sobong a proper ending, if they want a proper ending for sobong they could just killed bonghwan in the original timeline went the queen went to coma and bonghwan's soul went back to its body then went back again to the queen's body to make bonghwan and soyong souls merged as 1 as sobong that we love from ep 7 to ep 19.5 since they used soyong's consciousness as a key role to sobong's feelings/emotions towards the king (after all it was a trope in every isekai story, the original body already dead and the soul took the new identity of the body they were transmigrated in) it would be a better ending but again this show aired on korean national tv channel so i understand they went with that ending

I agree with you i also wanted sobong as the end game too but if it's the real 100% bonghwan's soul and consciousness he will never opens up for the king ever, it was soyong's consciousness that plays a big role in sobong emotions since the start (remember when bonghwan thought the queen got a heart attack in the 1st episode at their wedding?) It was soyong's consciousness that took over the body for a second that's why the queen expression mellowed as she looked at the king, and it was because of soyong's consciousness bonghwan went through that identity and sexual crisis from ep 7 to ep 17 but he didn't aware of soyong's soul existence in the body all this time that's why bonghwan wanted to confirmed his feelings for the king was real or not in ramyeon scene, when he finally confirmed/learned about his feelings towards the king in the end they make bonghwan back to future when he started to accept his new identity as jang soyong and started to care and fond for the king, that's just too cruel for bonghwan....so i understand the dissatisfaction with the ending but the king not only love the queen because of bonghwan personality the king is smart and bonghwan also already told the king about himself twice, the king also could recognised bonghwan when bonghwan tried to act and speak as a perfect queen in the previous episode he even asked sobong who she was, there it was proving the king too also love the real kim soyong as he's not bother at all when he was fully aware he missed something from the present queen

In the original novel ending the man's soul stay inside the empress body and accept his new identity as a woman, also not sure if this was some unwritten rules in isekai story but almost in every isekai story when the protagonist transmigrating to another time/universe/book they are already dead and took the new body identity as their and can not go back to their real world but i guess since it's korean national tv channel i can understand why they went with this ending

Do people realised that if it not because soyong's consciousness from the start bonghwan would never ever ever opens up for the king in the first place? In the early episodes we clearly see that bonghwan did whatever he wants with the queen's body (he even decided to keep his sexual preferrences and didn't accept his new identity/body) because he was a straight dude and shown zero interest for the king he even openly siding with andong kim clan (when the queen and the king greets the ministers after their wedding) that made the king even hate the "queen" more but after the sudden changed behavior of the king towards the the queen in ep 6 i believe that soyong's soul "rebelled" wanted to took over the body and making the new "queen" started to open up for the king since soyong been longing for the king this whole time but in the process of soyong's soul time to time took over the body consciousness whenever the new "queen" with the king, bonghwan started to questioning his feelings too, like in the ramyeon scene it was clearly bonghwan wanted to confirmed what he feels towards the king was real or not my guess was bonghwan also ended up falling for the king too and the king obviously attracted to bonghwan's personality so i get it why people are mad with the ending but still if it's not because soyong's consciousness bonghwan would never fell in love with the king in the first place, dare i had to say without soyong's consciousness bonghwan would made the queen as a lesbian queen in the history because it was a modern free spirit playboy straight dude's soul trap inside the queen body, so soyong's consciousness plays a big roles in this story and made this korean version make a lot more sense too as they didn't follow the original novel or the chinese version plot line in the original plot line they just killed off the real crown princess's soul and forced a straight man's soul to fell in love with a colossal scumbag crown prince after he was constantly getting raped and being mistreated by that colossal scumbag crown prince the whole time eww it's just a big meh for me so i like this korean version better but if they could make soyong and bonghwan souls merged as a 1 soul inside the queen body till the end and make it as sobong and the king as the end game it would be a better ending since we can not just brushed off bonghwan's feelings for the king as he started to care for the king thanks to soyong's consciousness also we can not go blind on bonghwan who started to accept his womanhood and his identity as jang soyong and went through all that identity and sexual crisis from ep 7 to ep 17 that's just too cruel to send him back to the future and to just knowing the fate of the man that he grew to fond of by some historical book (i cried when he cried as he looked at the king's picture :'( poor bonghwan) and we clearly love the show because of bonghwan antics in the queen's body from ep 1 to ep 19.5 :D but regardless the flaws of the ending i am happy with the ending since it was the king and the queen end game you may agree or disagree with me at this but like i said at first if it not because of soyong's consciousness bonghwan will never open up for the king ever

As for people who said the king deserves to know the truth from soyong about bonghwan and calls soyong hypocrite like jo hwa jin well damn it was a korean national tv channel what did you expect from them?????? Making the king went back to didn't love the queen after he knew about bonghwan from the queen herself???? And the king wait for his death to get reincarnate to meet bonghwan in the future???? Also it was the king himself who chose to not bother even after he realised he was missing something as he looked at the queen's dictionary, the king is smart and bonghwan already told him about himself twice, the king also could recognised bonghwan when bonghwan tried to act properly like a perfect queen in the previous episode but in the end the king chose to not bother by that fact there are no more "alien" version of queen in the end proving that he also not just love the queen for bonghwan personality but he also love the queen for her shell and herself too (remember their first meeting in the spin-off?) If you dissatisfied with the ending because you don't get to see the king and bonghwan as the end game i recommend you guys to watch 2gether the series, the series got 2 handsome men ended up together in the end but not so good story line with a lot of cringe moments all the way till the end or if you just wanted to see 2 men as the main leads who didn't ended up with any female character on the series and with a good story line go watch The Untamed, it was based on bl novel they have to erased the romance because of the censorship ah there is another most anticipated series with 2 men as a main leads like The Untamed called Immortality that will air on march or april this year let's go watch that series and consol yourself from the misery from not having bonghwan and the king as the end game

Gosh when i watched soyong's soul fully took over the body consciousness i can feel the differences like i really believe it was 2 different persons inside 1 body!!!!! WOWWWW DAMN!!!! Ahhh yes yes yes i was rewatching ep 1 yes when bonghwan thought the queen's body got a heart attack it was soyong's consciousness that took over the body for a second that's why the queen expressions changed and mellowed when she looked at the king :')

Yeah i got it i think it's a bit mixed ending i feel sad as no more sobong in joseon era :'D lol but i feel happy because it was the king and the queen end game no bullshit ending like the chinese version, also we should have know that EVERYTIME sobong opens up to the king it was SOYONG's consciousness!! Not just her memory or bonghwan's consciousness that's why when the king gave back soyong's book the queen said it finally came back to the REAL owner afrer 8 years (and there it wasn't sobong but soyong!!) My guess there are indeed 2 souls in queen body this whole freaking time but from ep 1 to 6 (before the queen's coma and bonghwan's soul went back to the future) soyong's soul was in deep slumber (?) Because she's still angry with everyone that drove her to her suicide but after ep 7 soyong's soul can't help but keep appearing whenever sobong with the king bc she's been longing for him since the start (poor girl) but yeah i agree with some of people opinions here, they could just keep bonghwan's soul inside the queen body just like the novel ending since after all it was bonghwan's personality that moved the king's heart tho the king originally already fell for the queen from the start but it was thanks to bonghwan the king opens up his heart again for the queen as the original queen's soul can't do that, also in almost all of isekai themed story when someone transmigrating to other time/universe/book they're already die not just coma (i read a lot of isekai novels and all of them make the protag's soul as the new owner of the body they were transmigrated in and no go back to their real body since they're already dead) they could have made bonghwan and soyong souls really emerged and became 1 soul at the end but yeah i can understand why they went with this ending hehe, haaaaa finally the end....... :') thank you mr queen i laugh a lot watching this drama XD i hope i can watch shin hye sun and kim jung hyun in another drama as a main leads again i love their chemistry sooooooo much!!!!! <3 <3 <3 <3

The only danmei adaptation that i watched on iqiyi was the sleuth of ming dynasty tho i dropped it later on lol but i can tell that drama got a good amount of budget, tgfc has a big fandom and looking at the success of cql i think it will attracts many sponsors and investors (hopefully) XD

Ahhh i think it also happened before too with hua cheng VA -_- if i'm not wrong they complained that hua cheng VA's voice was too old to voice san lang haaaa i don't know much about voice acting but i know every voice actors have a range to make them sounds like a kid, teen, young adult, adult and an old person, also not related to tgcf but chen feiyu still got hate and criticized by some 2ha fans for not fitting to be mo ran but in my very humble opinion he was the perfect mo ran, even feiyu and mo ran shared the same birthday, same goes with wang yibo too when he was announced to play lan wangji in cql but look now they all are simp for wang yibo's lan wangji......i will check ming ren drama XD let's hope they got the right actor to play hua cheng in this adaptation :D and thank you i will check the fanmade video now :D

In the novel the emperor (still a crown prince at that time) like to forced himself to the empress (basically r*pe the empress occasionally) then the emperor cold attitude before the male soul possesed the empress body was hard to read :'( poor the real empress but even after got possesed by another soul and the emperor showed his interest to the "new" empress he still hurt the empress, he tried multiple times to killed the empress to framed his brother who was fighting for a throne like him, he was one of few worst ML character that i ever read he's character beyond reedemable imo -_-
