HHL was so embarrassing in this episode… 20 years ago she was trying to bring him back to the past where she was stuck and 20 years later, she still lives in the past… YGH could not even look at her, and Xiaomei was actually trying to save her face by trying to convince her daughter that these skating shoes were good… I mean, when the woman from whom you’re pining for her husband is trying to save you some embarrassment, then damn, you have it bad… And I mean, what was even the point ? Are you trying to tell the kid your past love story with her dad and to convince her to pick you up as a stepmom over her real mom ? I mean, not only this is a dumb gift (come on, when offering a birthday gift, you’re supposed to pick a gift that the receiver would enjoy ; otherwise, why would I stress so much when picking up gifts) but more important : this is HUGELY inappropriate (you don’t offer your ex’s kid that you never met a gift that represents your past love story with her dad, especially with mommy and wife is right next to you both, COME ON!) And final point : Xiao Mei and XCS’s daughter is so cute ! And I love the fact that she actually kinda looks like her parents, especially her mom, in her appearance and mannerisms

I think HHL is to blame for having used YeGuoHua even though she didn’t really love him But I also think YGH is to blame for his current unhappy marriage Because basically, he KNEW There were red flags everywhere : He knew from the beginning that if XCS hadn’t lost his legs, she would never have gone to him, that she had chosen him for her benefit (because he was nice asset in her life resume). He knew he was her second choice, her consolation prize, that she didn’t really love him. From the moment they saw XCS walking again and in a relationship with Xiaomei, he knew she had started regretting. He knew she was trying to get XCS back when they were on the skating rink. And he knew that she had announced her wedding with him, not because she wanted to marry him, but because she wanted to provoke XCS. He knew *everything* and he knew *all along* : he always knew she never loved him. That she wasn’t happy with him. And honestly, I don’t think he ever really was happy with her, due to all the bitterness and jealousy. But he went on anyway. He dated her, married her, knowing she was pining for his once best friend, all while not being happy. He made his choice. It was clearly going further and further into misery but he went right ahead into it anyway. He could have left, could have stopped : could have said « sorry Hong Ling, I can’t do this anymore ; I can’t stay with you knowing I’m just a second choice to you ». But he didn’t take that decision that would have saved him. He kept making himself more and more miserable I honestly wonder if this was really about loving HHL : I mean, how could he love her when he doesn’t even really know her, never realized her personality was more than this beautiful Cinderella they wanted to protect. She had planned to harm him and ruin his career ! In my opinion, she seems much more toxic than him !)

Épisode 27 : Most awkward reunion ever… I mean, on one hand, we have Hei Zi who obviously dislikes and blames He Hong Ling for her treatment towards Chun Sheng and couldn’t help but throw shades at her (okay, I’ll admit : it was kind of fun) and from what I understood, even Qi Tian is annoyed at her And on the other hand, there’s He Hong Ling who barely even bothers trying to hide her jealousy and annoyance when seeing that Chun Sheng moved on and didn’t wait for her Not to mention all these pathetic and shameless tricks she used to provoke him : announcing her wedding with Guo Hua, wearing the exact same outfit than when they first went ice skating, and specifically waiting for Chun Sheng to skate with him. I just feel a HUGE difference between XCS’s relationship with HHL and his relationship with Xiaomei How should I say this… with HHL, it was like they were playing a game all the time… first, it was « you run, I chase, let’s see who gets who first », then it was « let’s play at becoming the strongest heroes like in novels and movies » but then reality caught them up, and a « playful » relationship like theirs could not stand… but with Xiao Mei, they just work their ways together with reality… and it seems that even without saying anything, they understand each other, unlike with HHL, with whom he was always playing at « let’s have fun at trying to guess the other’s thoughts correctly » Also, I feel like the way he used to care for HHL and the way he takes care of Xiaomei are totally different… When he was taking care of HHL, it was like he wanted to take care of a beautiful Cinderella that he wanted to save from some imaginary villain… and she would let him do it while pretending to be strong and independent… but with Xiaomei, it’s more like… he knows she totally has the the maturity and strength to take care of herself but he wants to do it anyway because this is his natural instinct towards her and also because he knows she will tend to take care of others before taking care of herself so he wants to relieve her a bit…

Yeah but unfortunately, she doesn’t have much ressources and isn’t very famous, unlike some of her female coworkers who in my opinion aren’t as talented as her but are much more famous and popular and therefore get the best parts and opportunities (I won’t give names ; I’ve already burnt myself on that one before) So she can’t be very picky about her projects and short dramas may be her only opportunities for a talented but underrated actress like her to play a main part and gain some fame (Provoke seemed to have helped her a bit) (personally, I enjoyed the drama despite knowing it wasn’t that good but I know it wasn’t really good so I understood that many people disliked it)
