Not only they ruined everyone around them but they also ruined what could have been their own happiness just because they could not stand having one thing refused to them and they had the nerve to blame others for that
Edit : also, i don’t think Mingyue and her mother truly loved Yu Jin/General Cui. To me, loving is being unable to stand to cause any pain to the one we love, and obviously both of them had no problem making the one they « loved » suffer just to get them : grand princess had forced the général Cui 20 years ago, and let’s not forget that Mingyue was happily dressing up for her wedding, not caring that Yujin was almost dying to resist marrying her ; and just like Cui Xu pointed out, Grand Princess never trusted him, which also proved to me that she never really knew him : general Cui was obviously someone honest and trustworthy, which means that if he said he didn’t have an affair with Jiang Si’s mom, then he was definitely not lying.
