Y’a know, after knowing the pain of being born from rape and forced marriage, you would expect Pei Congzhi to take his lessons from his father’s mistakes… but nope, he did the very same thing his father did. I also can’t help but observe that the story seems to treat only the mother as a villain but not the rapist father. Although for some reason, i have a huge guilty pleasure for this : the story stands against all of my principles (m such as my fervent hatred of rape culture) so i can’t understand why ; maybe it’s because of the leads’ awesome acting and chemistry or because despite everything, Pei Congzhi remains a fascinating character
I love Dai Dai but i cannot take this seriously when I see how much they basically plagiarized Marry My Husband ! I’m surprised there hasn’t been any lawsuit from Korea yet !
Wow… I was expecting this because of WYLR’s acting, but i’m not sure if i can go on… épisodes 7 & 8 got me really uncomfortable, i mean, the guy raped her TWICE, including from behind (I mean, I expected at worse dubious consent but the scene where he raped her from behind against the table with so many officiers next door made me nauseous…)
Lol, the fact that the Grand Princess to complain "when Mingyue was alive, they wouldn't give her anything she wanted" when the Emperor decided to grant a higher title... Hmm, sorry but I think that the problem is precisely that the emperor and everyone always gave Mingyue what she wanted in the past, that's why she turned into such a monster. She seemed to forget that the Emperor eventually agreed to marry her to Yujin, even though the latter was willing to starve himself to not marry Mingyue Also, she even blames him for having decreed Mingyue's marriage to Zhu Ziyu... Hmm, sorry again but if I recall clearly, she was there, and clearly took part in forcing Mingyue to get married to save her position... In the end, the only one who truly tried to save her monster of a daughter from this marriage was the father that she and her daughter blamed for not having cared enough for their daughter It's really sad because truthfully, Grand Princess and Mingyue both had everything to be happy : they had a loving family, a whole lot of servants devoted to her (her wet nurse may be hateful but she does love the princess and Shi Jiu the bodyguard was quite emotional when Mingyue died, he even tried to spare the princess the sight of her daughter's burnt corpse), endless wealth and glory... But their jealousy, excessive power and insatiable greed : they possessed so much their entire lives that they took it for granted, considered it normal for them to have anything they wanted and could not stand it when one thing would be refused to them, going on a killing spree to then pause themselves as victims, only thinking and complaining about the one thing they couldn't get, not taking in account everything they already had Not only they ruined everyone around them but they also ruined what could have been their own happiness just because they could not stand having one thing refused to them and they had the nerve to blame others for that Edit : also, i don’t think Mingyue and her mother truly loved Yu Jin/General Cui. To me, loving is being unable to stand to cause any pain to the one we love, and obviously both of them had no problem making the one they « loved » suffer just to get them : grand princess had forced the général Cui 20 years ago, and let’s not forget that Mingyue was happily dressing up for her wedding, not caring that Yujin was almost dying to resist marrying her ; and just like Cui Xu pointed out, Grand Princess never trusted him, which also proved to me that she never really knew him : general Cui was obviously someone honest and trustworthy, which means that if he said he didn’t have an affair with Jiang Si’s mom, then he was definitely not lying. But either Grand Princess didn’t know her husband enough to realize that, either she simply didn’t actually care about the truth because what truly bothered her was that Su Ke still had his heart no matter what. Anyway, how can one claim to love someone when you don’t really know or trust him ?
Lol, this is the second time Zhai Zi Lu plays a character having an unrequîted love for Bai Lu’s and it’s kinda making me feel bad because I’ve always kinda wishes to see them paired up together 😅 Let’s hope he’ll succeed on his 3rd try, just like Wang Xing Yue 😂

Bad subs of course - but the whole thing is much better than I expected !
That was just so unnecessary !
I’d be curious to see his réaction then
