I LOVED Summer’s Desire (it made me learn Chinese ; it’s too bad the Chinese remake wasn’t up to the level of the Taiwanese series’, they had such talented actors, they could have done much better)

Who knows, maybe excessive abuse between the leads was at trend at that time. But I also think the 1998 version was much better (the best adaptation of the novel, in my opinion), you can see Harit’s hesitations when he falls in love with the one he thinks to be responsible of his brother’s death and their acting is perfect ! Actually, the relationship between Soraya and Harit in the original is very beautiful, she slows heals him but she also develops a real bond and attachment towards him, their falling in love was very logical, unlike this version where it’s only abuse, abuse, abuse and oh! I love you (ridiculous)
Watched ep3 so far and... This is inconvenient,The ML keeps blaming t FL for being a bad person, getting revenge…
I’d say he was like that more because he was incredibly unhappy about knowing that not only she didn’t love him as he hoped (and thought) but even hated him, so it led him to act as a child who can’t deal with his sadness, by throwing fists and being mean to her, hoping it would get her attention (maybe he even hoped it would bring her to admit she loved him) or that their relationship would not be reduced to nothing (some people are like that, they’d rather get a relationship of hate, if they can’t have Love, rather than not getting any relationship with the ones they care). But every time she would show him how miserable she was due to him, you could see in his eyes that this wasn’t the result he hoped for
