It's both, she gets isekai-ed into her novel. It's a romance between her and Gyu-hyun. Not sure how the two will work together, but I'm trusting in the writer

I've now watched ep 8 and I do think she started falling for Gyu-hyun, just a little bit, already.

I think the drama's done a good job showing us that Gyu-hyun is flawed, but ultimately a nice person. He felt remorse for his actions before he developed feelings for Ja-yeon. I don't think this is really out of nowhere at all.

They didn't show it yet, but it seems like it was related to her childhood or parents

So, it's a romance between Gyu-hyun and Ja-yeon, not just the story of her novel (I assume they will both be intertwined). I have zero idea how it's going to work when it takes place in the world of the novel, but I will trust in the writer. I have some theories about how they may approach it, but nothing based on incredibly solid evidence.

I still think it's going to be them somehow. It's Gyu-hyun's and Ja-yeon's romance, not the novel characters'

I just looked up the announcements and i don't see anything at all about this show. As far as I know we didn't know it existed until July or August, and even Korean netizens have been saying they don't know how many eps it will be. If you can remember the link, please do share. I just think it'd be weird to call it a spinoff "series" if it's only 1 episode

That's not why I shipped them, I shipped them because I love the individual characters and the setup. I don't think Ja-yeon has FALLEN for him yet (haven't seen ep 8 yet) but I do think she's curious about him. She looked pretty dreamy when they were running away from Ha-jun, too. So, IMO the truth is somewhere in the middle between what they're saying and what you're saying

Where are you seeing it's only one episode long? I can't find any actual info about episode amount, just that it will be on the shorter side. I've seen claims that it's two episodes, but I can't find any actual source for that. Also, everything I've read about the spinoff makes it sound like an entirely new thing, not something other dramas have done before with one additional episode. Also, there's an interview with Lee Sang-yi where he says it's romance between Ja-yeon and Gyu-hyun, so even though it takes place in the world of her novel I assume there will be some real life implications.

Except in this case it's Third Lead Syndrome since Gyu-hyun is technically the 2ML, lol

I personally don't know how people can still ship her with Ha-jun, I just don't think he sees her as anything more than a friend, and even though they were classmates he doesn't really know much about her. Also, I was very confident that the drama would pull this development off well and I'm glad I wasn't wrong!

He could be, but i don't think he is. He likes to think of Ja-yeon as a children's author
