Yeah, well, I get it, but still. It's just playing dirty and they already do that enough with the way they edit the whole thing. I can't help but feel sad and frustrated for the boys.
Gotta say tho, I hate the fact they relased all the performances just a day before the stop of the vote. Like, I definitely would have voted some of these boys to get them to survive the next round, if I knew they were this good! It's not fair, sob.
As usual I have no idea of what happen in the episode yet, but I just watched the performances on youtube. I'm waiting for the video without cuts and reactions, but for now these are my thoughts:
Edit: went to watch the performance without cuts and changed a thing or two (btw mnet edit is so biased that it's embarassing).
→ Burn it Up K group definitely stronger on the vocals (damn, Park Gwan Young), but in term of overall performance I think G group was better. They were well balanced and for some reason I think they matched the vibe of the song more. Especially that blonde kid (Xuan Hao) and the two black haired rappers (Kei and Hyo, I think? Their part were goooood), they did good. I liked a lot the climax part of the orange haired vocalist also.
→ Danger I'm sorry but this was almost painful for me to watch. I know the boys did their best and Danger is /not/ an easy song, but from the K group for me the only one who would get a pass would be Min Hyuk for his rap. Choi Jiho and Woo Seok vocals weren't bad, but idk this group really did not fit the song they choose. The G group vocals were unstable, but they managed to get some high notes and I was pleasantly surprised by Takuto rapping lmao. All in all, the stage was kinda weak, even if better than I expected (was really worried for this group after last episode lmao.)
→ Back Door Okay these were the stages I was the most excited to see cause Back Door is my favorite skz's song. The G group was just a bit weak on vocals, but rap, dance, attitude and energy were all there! Ricky's stage presence is magnetic, he just fits this song so well. He just needed a bit more stability on the vocal part. The whole vibe was so good tho (I screamed a little at the ending). This seems to be a trend, but K group had more stable vocals again. Their performance was a lot more aggressive, where the G group had some sort of confident laid back style. I was so happy for Yoon Jong Woo cause the boy redeemed himself big time! He was so freaking good, he really showed what he can do! Han Yu Jin and Kim Min Seoung also really managed to shine. Love these kids to bits.
→ Hot Sauce The G group was adorable not gonna lie, but everything else was kinda missing for me. Except for the rap, the first rapper was good. I don't mean to be harsh, but yeah... Not really impressed by the rest. K group had the energy: especially Park Jihoo, his dancing and his espressions were great! My eyes keep searching for him lol. And Prak Han Bin, that boy is a gem. I was already impressed with his rap from the ateez song they covered on the first episode, but he can sing well too! I'm keeping an eye out for him, he quite literally saved the vocals of the whole group.
→ Love Me Right Mnet is a clown and they really wanted to get us worried over nothing. I think I still prefer Jay's vocal for this song, but Hui was amazing too (his high notes AAH also kinda love when he makes his voice rough and scratchy) and there's no room for discussion that K group's performance was overall better. I mean, don't even get me started on Sung Han Bin. Ya, that boy. Really deserve that first place on the top 9.
Do they always release the fancam some days before the episode airs? I kind of want to watch them but also I don't want to ruin my first impression of the whole performances.
My picks for now! Obv my choices may vary depending on the next episodes.
ALL ROUNDERS → Sung Han Bin → Keita → Zhang Hao
MAIN VOCALISTS → Hui → Jay → Matthew
MAIN DANCERS → Wang Zi Hao → Park Gun Woo
MAIN RAPPERS → Haruto
BONUS (trainees who I like a lot but i can't fit in the top 9): Yoon Jong Woo, Ricky, Park Han Bin, Kim Ji Woong, Han Yu Jin, Jeong I Chan, Yoo Seung Eon, Ma Jing Xian, Kim Gyu Vin.
I'm curios which boys would you all choose for the respective roles?
I'm hope that for the next challenge they'll mix the boys cause I want interactions. Come on, give me some bonding between the korean and the international trainees!!
With the way mnet has edited ep 4's trailer I'm almost sure Hui's group it's gonna win lmao. They always evil ending him like that and then you go, watch the episode and boom he was perfect? Pls mnet be serious.
Also I'm really glad Ricky's getting the recognition he deserves. I hope his team win. And Yoo Jong Woo too, redeem yourself with that kill part and go for it. I'm rooting for u ^^
my thoughts on episode 3:•Jay is SO FUCKING GOOD like pls•Kamden was done so dirty. Justice for my guy cause…
I can't agree with u more, you literally wrote my thoughts about the entire episode lol. Especially about the rap part, sob. Where are the rappers?? I hope next ep with stray kıds back door will give me something sigh.
I hope everyone knows that the idols who'll debut need to be good in everything, yes, but mostly importantly, they need to be GREAT in their speciality. We're gonna need at least a main vocalist, a main dancer and a main rapper who're freaking amazing at their forte. And especially we need trainees who can arrange and write music themselves cause that always slap and give the group a solid identity. So I really hope people are gonna vote with that in mind and choose the ones who got more polished skills. It's always a joy to see trainees evolving and improving, but we need someone who's already good and can become better if we want this group to last.
I'm pissed that they are doing their best to show Hui in bad light. His strength is his singing and they literally…
Yeah I get u, dance isn't his strong suit, he's a main vocalist and a producer. Tbh I don't think there's anyone who can rival to him in terms of singing during a performance (which is reasonable, he's got more experience of all of them, being a successful debut idol). But also, that's the point to debut a group: they need to be good in everything, yes, but mostly importantly, they need to be GREAT in their speciality. And I'm looking forward Hui to be one of the main vocalist. We're gonna need at least a main vocalist, a main dancer and a main rapper who're freaking amazing in their forte. And especially we need trainees who can arrange and write music themselves cause that always slap and give the group a solid identity. Yeah, we also need a visual, but come one they're all pretty af. So I really hope people are gonna vote with that in mind and choose the ones who got more polished skills. It's always a joy to see trainees evolving and improving, but we need someone who's already good and can become better if we want this group to last.
ep2 thoughtsfirst of all… i HATE the push to pit the k group and g group against each other. it’s just weird.…
Agree on you with how weird it is that they keep to put the K group and the G group against each other, like, eventually they're gonna debut together so what's the point? It's just weird. Also not to be that person but mnet is really doing dirty to international trainees, cause some of them definitely deserved more than the rank they got.
I can't believe they killed me off Tang Lian in the middle of the drama like wth??? They better bring him back from the death, why do my favorite characters always have to die 😭😭 He had so much potential yet and could have bring so much to the plot why are writers always like this 😭😭
I'm so happy to have watch the full performances without cuts before the episode cause mnet really did some of them dirty and I could go without prejudice because of the reactions they show in the episode. I hope everyone can vote who they like, but please keep skills in consideration! Also it was nice to see some great rappers this ep!
