Unfortunately, I felt the director wanted for Prince Jing to be caricature and I mean it in a derogatory way. There was nothing about him that felt real and tbh it would have been enough for his character to be (paradoxically) a little more human to fully lay out the actual horror of what Chunhua had to go through.

The way the directing was constantly switching from Chunhua's desperate POV to the "comedy" POV for the audience (especially through the background music) gave me whiplash.
I feel like the director needs to learn a bit the art of silence and let the scenes or characters speak for themselves.

The way you novel readers are warning me is so ominous, do they at least survive by the end of the story 🥲

I agree about Prince Jing. The background music they put whenever he's on screen is extremely off putting, because there's nothing but horror and pain about the whole situation.
Even if they wanted him to pass as a pathetic, disgusting loser, the director could have choose a better way to express that.

That was brutal, but thank you, at least now I'm aware that I'll have to live with this heartbreak for the next 25 episodes 😭

Someone who has read the novel can pls tell me if I have to abandon all hope of the two of them having their happy ending 😭

Did they have to break my heart like that. Did they. Honestly I don't know how I'll survive tomorrow episodes, Chunhua and Wenji were my favourite characters from the start, I can't handle having them both so much in pain and sorrow 😭

Ngl Hyun Min and Dong Min made a splendid duo and I'm really looking forward to see if they're gonna be allies again here.

Tbh I think the most appealing thing for this drama to me, it's that I find every character so human for once.

I got attached very quickly to most of the supporting roles (apart from the leads ofc) and I do enjoy immensely when they are on screen even if their stories/lifes do not have much to do with the grand scheme of things.

It's very clear that Wan Yao is both extremely spoiled and used to get what she wants, but she also never received true care or affection and that's why she's so drawn to Yan Shang.
Also I suppose she's like, what, eighteen? Impulsive young love lol.

I watched only season 3 of the Genius and Dong Min didn't had a death match until the very last (even if was ready to sacrifice himself once before) so that's maybe why I don't really see that much difference between them.

Maybe only about Dong Min being very skilled about convincing people to do what he wants lol (but the king here is Hyun Min, that guy is incredible at manipulation, both in a good and I bad way).
Dong Min is very good at making people laugh and diffusion the tension when he wants to lmao but there were some part of the show I found him genuinely intimidating and he's very blunt with his words too. Like the man can be scarily good at pressuring people even if he's loyal to his teammates.

Tbh I find Dong Min more impressive than Hyungyu, im not even debating that, but from a personality point of view... I don't understand why people who truly hate Hyungyu like Dong Min. I genuinely do not understand, but it could be me since I suck at reading people.

Watching this slowly on youtube, so I'm still at episode 5 while everyone else is ahead.

I do hope we get more about medical cases and about Zheng Liang, his brother and his doctor friend. This drama has such a cozy vibe even in this sombre tone, its just... I'm really enjoying it.

Fr, apart from the obvious errors & lack of fantasy of the pose in pic, the poster doesn't reflect the spirit of the drama at all... It almost stopped me to watch it since I thought it would go on very hard on the comedic part, instead there's much more soul, it's slow paced and it has a very sombre and realistic look to it.

Btw how do people like Dong Min, but hate Hyun Gyu? They are both extremely smart and with a strong drive to win, but also very blunt and straightforward with their words. Both of them are quite loyal in the sense that they don't ever betray first, but can be vengeful if crossed.
Like they're pretty similar, so I don't understand why do people have such a different opinion about them. Maybe Dong Min changed a lot since the 2013 show I saw? 🤔
