I mean, Hai Lou was "shipped off" to some places nobody wanted to go since the beginning (and Hai Xia got beaten up as punishment by their Master so just he could follow Hai Lou since he was worried about them being separated for so long).

Not only Hai Lou has no Zhang's tattoos so he's not considered part of the family (at least that was people told me), but his Master also sees him as the lowest ranking official in the Archives.
Our guy was also kept in the dark about everything regarding the Archives and the shady things that were going on. And I get it, Hai Lou is reckless as hell so maybe it was a form of "damage control" but still (and protection I guess, in Hai Xia's eyes).

I mean, they didn't even tell him about the fake-death thing?? Like, was he supposed to just go off and actually die if he ever faced a no-way-out situation? 😭

Everytime I remeber Hai Xia is the older one between the two of them, my heart breaks a little more because it is shown in the little things, how Hai Xia is effectively the only one who ever indulged Hai Lou's antics and always looked out for him no matter what (while everyone else kind of treated Hai Lou has a replaceable pawn at best).

I mean, I'd understand if he became loyal to her due her saving him before (plus ye li is smart, as a servant I'd follow her too dhdh), but I'd be so disappointed if he get a crush for her 😭

This man has the weird capability to end up being my favorite character in every drama he's in.
I'm not even searching him up voluntarily, like, I only watched three dramas he was in by pure chance and promptly stole my heart in every one of them.

Noooo why did they dub Yiran, his natural voice would have suit the character a lot better 😭

I though it was it at him first because who else could have throw the arrow?? But then they didn't show him so I was left wondering if I was wrong.

(also bc I really don't see the point in ZZ activating a mechanism to kill Prince Xiangyang when he could have just stabbed him with his sword. Unless he was trying to make sure there was no evidence of him murdering the prince so the court can't persecute him, but for a dying man I'm not sure it really matters?)

I agree that probably BYT was supposed to die there, but yeah I got they were both alive once the "two men" appeared at Linglong door dhdh since those were the names they used at first.

I just wish they gave us a little more explanations (how BYT managed to survive, did they were able to cure ZZ poison?), but I read they had to cut from 40 to 37 episodes, so maybe the extra scenes are there (wishing they could give them to us as extra eps lol).

Nevertheless, yeah, I enjoyed the drama a lot even with its flaws; some says it's not a true blue wuxia, but for my part I enjoyed the fight scenes immensely.

BYT being alive in the credits I think it's just the director (and our) wishful thinking, but if this mean having BYT being alive, I'll put the logic away just for this time 😭

We are left with a lot of questions, especially about ZZ's past and his family. I wouldn't mind if they gave us a second season 🥲

I'll recognise this drama was not perfect in any way, but I loved every second of it.
I didn't think I'd get so attached to Zhan Zhao and his little found family, but here I am.

The after scene credit is probably a collective fever dream the director decided to share with us so to not have a full breakdown and I appreciate him for that 😭🤚🏻
