Let's hope they decided to butcher the start so that they don't have to ruin the end sigh. I'll try to push through these first five episodes and then decide if to stuck around or not.
I was really anticipating this, so finger crossed 🤞🏼

I don't know if it's the writing or the directing/editing choices, but this drama isn't flowing like it should.
I still have to finish the 2nd episode, but so much already happened and even if I barely know these people, they keep introducing new characters.
The change between scenes are weird af and the whole thing feels disconnected; the wuxia fights are barely okay + the color grading is,,, plain to say the least.

Honestly the only thing I'm enjoying for now is the acting of the two main leads, which is sad bc the premise was kinda interesting.
If the editing doesn't get better, I don't know how much I'll be able to stuck around even if Zhou Yiran's acting (and the fl's too) is pretty commendable.

Vier is being such a sweetheart for now that I will have a real hard time forgiving Kelvin for whatever he's gonna do (+ the multiple kidnappings).
I'm good with fucked up relationship only when the toxicity goes both sides 😭

Only thing I can say about the ending is that at least it's better than Stay With Me's fuckass finale 😭

Definitely left me wanting a lot more cause I feel like we're barely half into the whole story? Sob.
Loved the characters tho, the two leads where great, but I admit I had a lot of fun watching Gao Tian Yang lmfao that boy was hilarious.

More on plot, I was so sure the sostitute teachers were already in a relationship until like episode 7?? Bro I was flabbergasted when I understood that was indeed NOT the case (even if they're clearly in love with each other) and then they proceeded to leave us hanging on their story too 💀

Plus the heartbreaking details of how Sheng Wang started to call Jiang Tian as "Ge" instead of saying his name only after realising his own feelings as a way to draw a boundary and remind himself that's a line he cannot cross... Devastating.

We do deserve that second season damn it 😭😭

Overall a very unique serie, it's real but with that fever-dream like setting that Taiwanese are so good at.
I especially liked the actor who played Yueh, his character just won me over.

I actually liked this lmfao was it realistic? Nope, but the actors & actresses' performances were awesome.

I mean people who read the novel said Kelvin let his brother having his way with Vier (he apparently paid someone to r*pe Vier??) to get financial support and i REALLY REALLY hope they changed this in the drama bc otherwise everyone need to die.
But yeah he got kidnapped three times and we just watched two episodes 😭 😭

First kidnapping when Kelvin probably sold him to his brother or something (where Vier got the scar), second kidnapping after Kelvin took Vier while he was with Nana and the third was after Vier conversation with his ex-lover, right? Should be? God Vier really can't catch a break 😭

Watched the first two episodes and trying to keep count on how many times Veir got kidnapped. Two? Three? 😭

It make sense to have a more teenager actor to play his role since we witness him go from 13 to 18 years old, but still, damn. He was young.

I went to research a little this time period since I know very little about it and damn Prince HongZou ascended to the throne at like 13 years old?? He was a child 😭

Also, very random, but the osts?? Chef kiss fr omg the opening is so beautiful and the ending is sang by Zhou Shen (I recognised him right away lol his voice is divine), I was immediately left mesmerised. Really great choices in the music department 🙏🏻
