Tbh I too was leaning toward that until the ghost healer guy mentioned the Ode of Calang (or what was its name) to Meng Rui and Zhen Zhu. At that point I just knew that Meng Rui was not gonna let Li Si die under his watch and I could only hope for Zhen Zhu to have a way to save him thanks to her knowldge of medicine.
But the writers apparenty wanted us to suffer so, yeah, nope, our man will stay in a coma indefinitely 😭

I was kinda terrified that was gonna end like WoF (I hate when the protagonist has to "sacrifice" themselves to have everyone else live happily like do not fuck with me), but somehow this is. Not worse but. We're not getting that season 2 like ever, so really they could have give us that 5 minutes timeskip after the end credits to let us see that Meng Rui was gonna be fine alright 😭

For once, I would have gladly accepted a time skip 😭

For real 😭 I was hoping the little prince would be Li Si and the Third Prince's chance to set the past straight and save the boy from the Court intrigues where Li Si succumbed as a child.
Instead the writers choose to let the little prince die to expose the corruption of the Crown Prince and the whole imperial family since there's no way under even Li Si isn't gonna get justice for the boy. I'm not pleased with this at all 😭

I guess they'll explain next week, but I think the Chiyun Bug gets "actived" by the change in the air's humidity.

While for the little Prince... My guess it's that he died by the Crown Prince's hand before the trip. The Crown Prince, to hide this, sent the little prince's body on the trip faking he was still alive, so he could state that the little Prince died while he was at the temple in a ploy by the First Prince. He wanted to avoid responsability while also frame his political enemy.

The team reunion was a little awkward, but I need to thank Lao Yan for giving Li Si a hug because the man definitely needs some. So if we get the brothers reunion next ep, I hope Li Si is gonna get some well deserved affection and comfort 🥲

Plus the "our little ice cube is melting" lmfao yeah I guess he is. Now, Meng Rui pls don't end up killing yourself to get Li Si the antidote alright.

I mean, I wouldn't say Li Si is that much forgiving: he does punish or arrest those who committed evil crimes.
But, as for himself, he's more interested in finding the truth of what happen in the past rather than searching for vengeance.

Since I'll probably be still in mourning for my boys (meng rui 😭) for the next few episodes, I'd like to compliment a bit the actor who played Li Si's shifu.
I must say that his portrayal was extremely compelling and nuanced; he was a showstealer and I honestly think his character is one of the best of the whole story.
Props to the actor for giving us such a performance.

You're so right. This made me realise this is probably why my eyes can't help but follow him whenever he's on screen in this kind of high-charged characters dramas.
The way he naturally becomes the focus point whenever he's in a group setting is quite amazing. Not only he himself does shine more, but the other characters involved with him also become more interesting. Everything just... flows better.

It's honestly kinda funny how everyone is always torn between being concerned for Li Si's health and finding him suspicious because his natural secretive behaviour 😂

I wonder what Meng Rui's reaction will be once he'll find out Li Si was the Fourth Prince and that actually his little brother died in his stead.

They're close friends now and Meng Rui has a iron moral code (Li Si was an innocent child at the time so I'd doubt he'd fault him), but Meng Rui's also very impulsive and thirsty for revenge; so I can't imagine how he will react to that new and the fact that Li Si found out but choose to keep that information from him.

I'd feel betrayed to say the least, but I honestly want to avoid a Tang Lici / Liu Yan situation all over again so I'm praying to the lord this time Meng Rui will be more reasonable & Li Si a little more forthcoming about explaining himself 🥲
