What I love most is the contrast in their physical energy. James is grounded, sharp, and active, while Ken is…
I'm pretty sure Ken will found other things to live for apart from James; sure, our sunshine boy will be the main reason and he will be probably the one to drag out Ken from point of no return, but I think thanks to him, Ken will be able to resolve his past trauma and probably get close to the coworkers/friends and that will also help him immensely to start living properly again.
I'm saying this because the drama doesn't give me toxic or codependent relationship vibes, but who knows, maybe they'll surprise us lol.

Yes, and that makes those little snippets of real emotions that sometimes get past Ken's mask because of James even more entertaining 😌

Not really! I dived in to the drama knowing nothing apart from the synopsis, so it's been a great discovery until now. But I'm really curious.
Even about James, who apparently is able to see people's aura.

For the next challenge they apparently have to direct a mini-choreo with the intro song? I'm a bit confused since they had different pieces/remix of the songs (i guess we will have two winner?) but here are my thoughts.

Between babyzoo, simeez and kasper, the only one who stood out to me was Babyzoo. Cool transitions, fun choreo and overall good vibes. From 0:30 to 0:45 was my favorite bit, really catchy.

For the others... oof it's hard. Like... I even liked the music more so it's difficult 😭
First of all Minjun's talent is impressive because oh my god the choreo for the last 50sec was absolutely insane shit. He used the props quite alright, just wished a bit more in the lighting & editing department.
Bada knows how to use the props to fit her vibes and it shows. The first part was the best editing wise, but I enjoyed the dance for the chorus too.
Some bit of Hash's video were creative but overall it left me a bit unsatisfied on the dance part. It had a very movie-like feeling to it tho with I greatly appreciated.
Renan also stood out: gritty, dirty & hot. The first part was the highlight, the hands moves were really cool. It felt a bit like it a kateyes mv lol I could really see them dancing to this.
Ingyoo had the good directing in term of lighting effects. Unmatched vibes tbh this song was right up his alley since it's perfect for his relaxed style: hence I liked almost all the choreo (could have up his game in the chorus tho), incredibly smooth. It reminded me of a mix between a 2000's rapper mv & a dance practice video of a dance crew lol.
Kooyoung... Father still has it and tbh I have nothing to point out as bad since it honestly was impressive in every aspect. The experience is speaking for itself here. Maybe the only thing it's that to me felt so much pure kpop, compared to the others, left a bit less impact. But tbh the more I watch, the more it looks technically perfect.
But then I saw Nain's mv and holy shit? Insanely satisfying to watch. I liked the dance choreo A LOT. The transition were amazing also. Maybe it was a bit flat in term of creativity, but it was so polished & cunty that I didn't really mind. Some dance moves were so, damn, that guy at 0:35? The "shh" with the head move? So good.

Tbh I don't know what exactly we are evaluating here (I don't have the brief since I didn't watch the ep lol) so I can't exactly choose, but these were quite fun to watch in succession.

EDIT: Those video they choreographed were to choose the best choreo bc the others directors will be working as a dancers to do said choreography??? This changes things a LOT.
Renan why did you make those choices then omg- Knowing this I feel like Nain and Kooyoung did the best job in directing a choreo the others could perfectly fit in.

I have to give Bada her flowers for her team's performance because ooof that was so satisfying to watch. Especially the latter part of the song, from the moment the black dancer went to the center to the end it was like a dopamine hit πŸ‘Œ
Maybe the only thing it's I wished a bit more creativity in the lighting department, but damn it was good.

Ingyoo's performance was effortlessly good and relaxed from start to end, which is probably more technically difficult to achieve πŸ˜‚
They almost seemed like a tribe dancing around the flames in the wilderness and highly intoxicated. Quite hypnotising. The black ballerina dancing african beats (I think?) was sooo smooth ugh plus the latter part where the moves become intentionally more choppy was really good.

I honestly do not know who won yet and wouldn't know how to decide between them.

I wonder why Ken wishes so desperately for death.
Tong's emptiness in portraing Ken really nails down how his character has tried to die (and felt the pain of every death) almost 300 times, but survived against his will. He must have exhausted so much of himself that can't feel even desperation anymore.
It will be a joy for the eyes to look at Ken finding again his will to alive thanks to James. The guy is so full of life that's almost contagious lol.

Was rewatching some clips waiting for tomorrow and I gotta say I really like Tong's portrait of Inspector Ken. The man looks so... empty. Not bored, not even cold, just pure emptiness. His eyes are void of any resemblance of emotions most of the time.
He shows some sort of reactions (half smiles of endearment or simmering irritation, even a flash of hunger) only when it involves James and even then, it's barely there.
It's fascinating: it reflects how Ken has lived so long wishing for death that it's as if he trying to erase himself, searching the murderer so to ask them to end him once for all (since he can kill Nours).

He's a really interesting character from a psychological point of view and I'm quite looking forward how all that is gonna clash with James.

Not me diving into this thinking it was gonna be a full on slow burn just for them to be kissing already by the end of episode two, holy fuck Ken must have been starving 😭

Btw I kinda started watching randomly, but im enjoying the drama quite a bit. Their bickering is honestly entertaining and for now the story is interesting enough.

Btw there's not tragedy tag for this drama so no matter how foreboding awful those clips of future looks, Jeon Yo better be alive and happy at the end of this otherwise I'm suing the writers.

Hash focused too much on the choreography tho. That's exactly why she lost, because this is a directing contest…
Yeah, I get it, but I just liked her performance more, overall - this is nothing but personal taste tho lmao. I do agree she was lacking in the directing department, in particular for the lights and effects, especially if considering her previous works.

Unfortunately that's the only truth we can be sure of: we must never fully trust Mnet πŸ’€

Well, I'm not a trained dancer so I can't comment on that, but tbh I did really like Hash team's performance a little better. It suited my taste more, I think, especially the first half!
But yeah, for visual effect and directing, it was probably a bit weaker.

Minjun is talented and we all can see it; even so, I agree with you. I don't know how much of evil editing there's in the show, but I also found his attitude quite disappointing.

I always watch the performances first on youtube before the whole episode because I hate how they edit things and tbh recommend everyone to do the same πŸ˜‚

Last ep, I'd say my favorite were Rena, Hash and Minjun's choreographies.
Rena was able to direct a wonderful waacking piece and she was really smart to pick out Jamie cause that guy is sooo good. I couldn't stop watching him.
For Hash and Minjun, I think Hash's choreography was more polished and really creative (she was able to make shine the crew as a whole and that ending with the legs + arms of the dancers in the back? Soooo good), so I kind of like it better than Minjun. But I have to admit that Minjun's choreography for the signature move is so good I could only think of that during that part of the song.

Just thinking about how young Laogou used to idolise Fo Ye and the rest of the Mystic Nine, which makes what has to come so much more devastating.

I had to go check if they added the romance tag without telling me after episode 5 because what the fuck was all that 😳

Also if Kaye really has DID (like they're hinting at) I hope they make a good job at representing it because it's a condition that's often misunderstood in media.

The police part of this show is kinda awful, but tbh I didn't expect much in the first place, so I'll just turn off my brain during those part 😌
Btw wouldn't be really cool if the mastermind is the young reporter girl who's friend with Praew? She must have some kind of a role in all of this.
Thun and Nop would be too obvious as choices and I don't think they'd make Kaye the culprit because, really? That would be underwhelming bc it would be a situation of "his evil personality did that" all over again and I'm tired of that trope.

Like op said, even if they made some changes here respect to the novel, I think we just need prepare ourselves for tragedy πŸ₯² (like in every minghao's drama)
