I hope Against the Current is gonna be just as good

I think it will be, another story of abused women, power struggles, love, heartbreak, intrigue, etc.

p.d. Perdón por mi extensión de comentario.

Well, in the last three episodes, I can say that the editing/cutting is very noticeable; some situations are very disjointed, everything jumps around a bit strangely, it's too obvious. That's my perception regarding everything they had to cut. The theme of episode 17 is handled delicately and very realistically. I'm very sorry that these situations happen every single day these days. There are a lot of people around here who are constantly talking about the novel. How many times do we have to say that the novel is one thing and what's filmed as a drama is another? You can't compare them; I've read some episodes and I have noticed that, as always in the novel, everything is more extensive. Situations, endings, etc., change, so I decided that I watch the drama first and then, when I feel like it, I read the story written in the book if I can get my hands on it. Constantly commenting on the book: "This didn't happen," "It's not like that in the book"; it's truly exhausting. The only thing I disagree with is when they change the ending; that is, the book has one ending, and when they adapt it into a drama, they give it another. That really annoys me; they do it according to their own desires, not those of the audience, and obviously not those of the readers of those stories either, and that's what needs to be achieved: that the true ending of each story is respected, not different, ambiguous endings or endings left to the imagination of each person. Greetings from Spain.

P.S. Sorry for the length of my comment.

Breakup will happen around ep 18-19. This drama is not really about the breakup and the time gap. It’s more…
******************************************************
Well, if that's the case, they won't have much time between reconciliation and a happy ending, I'd say; of course, given the time they dedicated to each chapter, it will all be "a quickie and that's it, everyone's happy."

Yes, they should gradually add back in the remaining chapters whatever they've cut from each chapter; that would be great.

**********************************************************
They think they've cut the story short, and the novel is one thing, and the adaptation for a drama is quite another; the timing is never the same. They have little time to tell the whole story and fit together the essential pieces. Why don't you do it the other way around? Watch the drama first and then read the novel; you'll enjoy it more that way. Try it.

The push and pull between Flora and Luke is sublime: one day everything's fine, the next it's all wrong. Now, you have to admit the guy works hard to protect/avenge his girl, but then the next day, for whatever reason, he completely changes his mind, and that makes it more believable when you're only watching one episode a day. I hope that, seeing the success of this series, they add back as much as possible of what they cut from the 8 episodes, at least starting now, since it's impossible to do it from the beginning. I really like the beginning and end of each episode, with the prologue and epilogue at the end. It's fun to watch; this drama has my friends in my group chat going crazy over Chinese and Korean dramas. I'm telling you, we Westerners, especially in Spain, aren't the most numerous, but we're very loyal to Asian productions. By the way, Chinese dramas are really taking over from Korean dramas because Korea is increasingly producing very Americanized dramas, and frankly, we fans don't like that at all. We don't abandon American productions, with a few exceptions, only to see Korea do the same, especially since platforms like Netflix and Disney Plus have come in. I really don't like that they're losing their Western essence; there's too much of it, and it's always the same. Greetings from Spain to everyone here.

My goshh how romantic and sexy drama.. What has happen to Cn strict censoring? Have they finally wake up..

They're not exactly changing anything; they're just opening up a bit, and it was about time. All that kissing and focusing on windows, flowers, birds, etc., was ridiculous; in this day and age, it's adapt or die, as the saying goes. Anyway, Chinese dramas and film are completely different; film is much more open, so they've decided to open up more; the audience is demanding it. These scenes in this drama are very subtle and delicate, done with good taste, and, in my opinion, much better than the explicit ones. Show, but don't show; that's the trick: suggest, but don't reveal everything.

Oh my goodness, I love this drama! It has something captivating about it, such care and delicacy in the intimate scenes it suggests but doesn't show; it's all so well done. Each episode leaves you wanting more. They're both daydreaming, seeing things that aren't there. She's very insecure, and he, wow, boy, you're lost! I'm convinced it's the first time he's ever been so smitten with a girl, and it shows. He's inexperienced in that way; he takes everything for granted, and that leads to a lot of misunderstandings that will push them toward that temporary separation. But since there are so few episodes, well, we'll suffer less, haha. Anyway, friends, here's to the sweet ending that awaits us, I suppose, right?

Hahaha, go ahead, relax, girl; you only live once, and this drama is a gem. Not exactly four times, but I do rewatch each episode once on Netflix and then on Youku, hahaha. Gotta keep up with both platforms, and besides, I'm having a blast, haha. You can watch each episode more than once because everything is so good and well-made. The story is fantastic.

Personally, I like to watch Chinese or Korean dramas in their original language with subtitles; I can't stand dubbing, it loses their essence. And I like K-dramas less and less; they've become too Americanized, they've lost the essence they had 10 years ago. I still watch them, but very few; I'm focused on Chinese dramas. I really like the historical ones, and they do them brilliantly; in the modern ones, gems like this one we're discussing or Zhao Lusi's latest, which was fantastic, occasionally appear.

I have both platforms and watch it on both; that way I give Netflix a platform on both, so they see that Chinese dramas are also popular in Spain, and I also watch it on Youku to give it a platform as well, and that way I can compare the subtitles because there really are subtle and sometimes significant variations in acting, content, and amount of dialogue. And of course, because I like to rewatch the episodes; on a second viewing you see more nuances than when you only watch it once, since between reading subtitles and watching, you lose certain perspectives if some subtitles flash by too quickly, which happens often, haha.

Saludos.

My goodness, what great production! Those microsecond scenes left me speechless. I don't know how much they'll show us, but considering it's China and censorship is involved, I think they're opening up, which is good; it doesn't have to be explicit, either; scenes that suggest are much better than those that show everything. That's my opinion; I loved the first four episodes. Cheers.

The Yu family is driving me absolutely crazy. How much evil there is in that elderly couple, and how much stupidity in their son and his wife. I haven't watched episode 30 today, so tomorrow I'll watch two episodes, and the following day the rest, if there's an express package. One good thing about WeTV is that you pay to watch an extra episode daily, and then you can watch the rest, which Youku doesn't do; there you pay to watch one more episode a day, and to see the later ones you have to pay again.

I wonder how they're going to fit everything that follows into the story with so few chapters left. I've skimmed the book up to chapter 60; from there I'm reading it all the way through. Wow, they'll have to cut a lot or be very meticulous to make it all fit, we'll see. Chapter 60 is where the most interesting part for me begins, I don't know what role that plays in the overall drama, we'll see.
