Try Love & Destiny - it has its own share of misunderstandings but it's less epic and angsty. The two actors are mature and really really good with portraying their roles

I loved it! Don't know if you'd appreciate it but I really liked that the God of War actually LOOKED like a God of War - Chang Chen is ruggedly handsome, not the flower-boy kind. Both main leads were absolutely aMAZING. It's not as epic as stuff like AOL and TMOPB but it's a really nice xianxia.

Immortal Samsara is going to have 59 eps in total anyway. LLTG is the same. They're just splitting the long dramas into two lol

Honestly, it's not just his angelic voice - he knows how to give each song its own emotions and colors. He really sings from the depth of his soul and it's just soooo beautiful to hear. I had heard him a lot but it wasn't until The Bond OST's Life Should Always Face the Light that I went investigate who the powerfully emotional singer was. His versions of Time to Say Goodbye and Monsters are just so heartfelt and moving. It was so sweet to see Monsters' original singer looking absolutely floored as she watched his cover. His cover of the Tokyo Ghoul theme song Unraveled is one of the most epic performances I've ever heard from a solo artist.

I end up anticipating his OSTs more than the dramas he sings them for XD what a man, what a voice

There is light romance throughout... i dont remember the eps exactly, though. When the kisses came they were really good.

The only problem is that for the majority of the show you really dont know whether FL likes him or not. She's with him for her own profit at first and she's an alien so she looks at things differently... its pretty hard to watch a lot of eps with him in love and thinking she's in love but she's just indifferent

Lots of people arent mad just because it looks like a noona romance. It feels like both actors are typecastin themselves by choosing similar scripts.

Lots of the noona romance bashing isnt purely because of the age gap. Sometimes scripts just suck, and the characters are portrayed with clear power imbalances. The reason that noona romances outnumber oppa romances by a huge margin is because people WATCH them. Why would production companies make so many if our "heteronormative" society wasnt gobblin them up?

She was honestly really good in the movie My Palpitating Life as the mother of a terminally ill child. I was surprised... she'd do well exploring different genres

Well they hardly ever make it very obvious with So Ji Sub's leading ladies.

Terrius Behind Me: FL is a recently widowed woman with two small children - and there was very slight romance most of the time it was just portraying two people helping each other overcome grief and move on
Oh My Venus: FL is an experienced lawyer and she doesn't look very young next to him. They never ever even call attention to the fact.
Master's Sun: doesnt count because FL and he are only two years apart
Ghost: no romance

Whereas with SHK it always feels like the drama is announcing WELL HELLO THERE! THIS IS! A NOONA ROMANCE! DO YOU SEE THE YOUNG MAN? DO YOU SEE THE NOONA? THIS IS A NOONA ROMANCE!!!!

Draw attention to an older man/younger woman age gap or make the FL a student like half these noona dramas and everybody will start talking about "grooming"
