I wish it had better BCG and OST in general 🥲 That’s the biggest problem for me right now, next to the ZLH’s dubbed voice 🥲 But yeah, I get it, they released it much earlier than it was planned, some sacrifices had to be made 🥲I hope the acting and story itself will save it tho

I don’t care about the ratings before drama ends, especially when we have less than 10 episodes available. At the beginning there is also a lot of actor haters or haters in general messing around the ratings. A lot of people don’t rate the drama before it ends (and, tbh, that’s the best approach in my opinion; unless you’re rating the particular episodes)

I think it may be because Li Rong has been overly romanticizing this relationship. It’s like we are getting her “vibe” and mood from these scenes.

I can’t wait to see her romantic scenes with Pei Wenxuan when they will fully acknowledge and accept feelings for each other (in the current timeline ofc). They were so cute when they were just after the wedding but now it will be the entirely different vibe 😏😅

That’s his biggest problem, he doesn’t want to make anyone unhappy so ends up hurting people he cares about. Sometimes, you need to choose or stand up. He was such a green flag when living simple life as Shiqi, I think it was his true self. All he wants is a calm life with Xiao Yao. Not having any other desires it also a toxic trait, of course, he’s hmmm a little bit codependent 😅But still, he was so good to her.

And Xiao Yao has two sides:
- the one which wants this kind of simple life (as the one she had with TJ)
- the one which wants excitement, adventure, sizzling chemistry, feeling of uncertainty (which XL have been giving to her)

What she doesn’t want for sure is the typical court life and living around people who are constantly plotting and scheming. She’s good at it but she doesn’t feel well in this environment, she’s doing it to help her “brother”, as she promised.

I think I mentioned it somewhere before - all of them are toxic and it’s the most interesting part about this story 😅

Even TJ who could look like a perfect person on a surface has his problems and toxic traits. He’s suffered a lot and still has no intentions of being vengeful. Almost saint, but at what cost?

Yes, XL also changes a lot throughout the story and sacrifices a lot for XY’s sake, I also think he’s a good person inside but unfortunately he had some ekhm tendencies and treated XY like a shit at the beginning. But I also think that his cruelty is an act of self-preservation. As general and protector in hiding, he had no choice but to become ruthless. He’s grown and opened a lot since he met XY, showing his caring and sensitive nature. I noticed he’s getting all mean and aggressive when getting to close to XY. It’s a defense mechanism. He’s my absolutely favorite character because of his complex personality.

For me XC is the worst and most toxic, we met him as a person who loved XY the longest but he was still a kid when he told his grandpa that he wants to become the next King. Maybe his intentions were pure back then but the more we are getting to know him, the more of his true colors are revealed. He’s torn between the desire of power and love for XY. He wants to have a cake and eat a cake. Let’s say he’s hmmm shady for me. He’s like an opposite of XL. He’s hiding behind the mask of being a good person, afraid to face his own desires, as he’s aware those are not that pure as he wants them to be.

About Xiao Yao I could write a book, there is so much about her character 😅

In conclusion - all of them are such a well written characters giving me an opportunity to analyze them over and over ❤️ That’s also the reason why LYF is one of my all time favorite dramas.

Xiao Yao is a red flag herself, Tushan Jing has only good intentions but has a weak character and that’s his biggest flaw.

I don’t consider him as her potencial romantic partner. For me he’s a friend material, some fun, some business but no depth and chemistry. They could work as marriage of convenience material in terms of getting along, but nothing else.

But I didn’t read a book and don’t know what’s to come, that’s what I think about him after watching season 1.

Oh yes, I remember when I watched LYF for the first time. My conclusion is that all of the main characters are (more or less) toxic.

I think 3 MLs are the reflection of 3 types of connection I’ve heard somewhere about, the descriptions below are very loosely based on my memory:

Karmic relationship - Cang Xuan
People have been brought together to learn a hard lesson in life. There may be shared wounds. It fades over time, when the learning process is over. Tends to be toxic and hard to let go, but eventually it has to be over.

Soulmate - Tushan Jing
Balancing and easy relationship. Supportive and complementary. Gives „like-home” comfort. Pretty much marriage material for a steady and happy life without worries.

Twin Flames - Xiang Liu
The most intensive connection. Gives off a feeling like you share one soul, being a mirrors to each other. Emotions are very deep. This relationship tends to bring up the issues/traumas to be solved/healed. Usually the connection grows stronger over time and may be for life.

I’ve been always thinking that Xiao Yao loves all three of them, but each one has a different role and influence on her life. There are no rights or wrongs when it comes to whom she will end up with. Okay, maybe except for Cang Xuan, I think they would both suffer in the romantic relationship as they definitely want entirely different things in life.

Ok, it’s time to rewatch season 1 😏

Every time he showed up on my screen I was trying to remind myself where I watched him before. Mistery solved!
