Wow so many hate comments thank goodness I started this before coming here or else I would have been discouraged…
Same here, I’m on ep8 and for now this story feels quite organic. Ngl my favorite part is the friendship between 4 guys 😅
I’m also in my 30s myself so sometimes the jokes they’re making are more funny to me than maybe to the younger audience (I laughed so hard on the new hobby and competition part 😂 so real). It’s also quite normal among my friends that we like to constantly remind ourselves that we’re considered “old” since we’re in our 30s 😂 It’s a form of a joke and coping mechanism, I guess 😅
Characters are not perfect, neither the plotline, it has some shortcomings but I still enjoy the ride. It may not be a masterpiece but I still consider it as a good watch, especially because most of the dramas I’ve been watching recently were on the heavier side.
Fun fact: I know myself a couple who’s story is quite similar to the one between the MC. She’s been crushing on somebody else, he’s been there for her as a friend and everyone knew he’s been in love with her from the beginning. They had some ups and downs I even witnessed myself but guess what? They finally got together and it’s been years since then. It’s hard to imagine them separated 😅 Trust me, they had to go through some ✨character development✨
i was wondering what drama that is & why is the role is so familiar, lol. IT IS INDEED TGCF!!!i didn't even know…
Yeah, they made the drama, hired the dreamcast (Zhai Xiaowen as Xie Lian and Zhang Linghe as Hua Cheng, omg) but unfortunately we will never have a chance to see that as Chinese government blocked almost all dramas based on danmei :(
I don't know why I have a feeling that her chemistry with her boss is way ahead than her school sweetheart 🤔...
It's just different type of relationship.
New ones as one with the boss tend to have more "chemistry" due to it's novelty, those are more exciting. There is also the mix of work/love involved which just adds steam to it. But they don't really know each other yet.
More stable one she's got with her boyfriend is all about the safety, how well they know each other. It may look boring but it also brings the feeling of warmth, stability. Makes you feel like home when you're with this person. That also makes the relationship lacking the tension.
I really hate the way his mom is treating her . 😤.
I can’t stand her: - fake - passive aggressive - trying to control the situation, making decisions for everyone else - thinking she knows best - she’s literally using FL’s kindness to treat her like a shit later (ofc in a fake-nice way) - making herself victim when she needs it - she literally has to empathy towards FL, it’s more like she’s faking it to look good in her son’s eyes
This woman is toxic and I would even say covert narcisstic. I don’t know how I’m gonna handle her in the next episodes. It’s too infuriating 😒
This story is about two people who's been very close most of their lives and how they are facing their first big crisis. Father's illness, toxic mothers (one neglecting, another controlling), long-distance relationship and different visions of future together. They may love each other very much but the only true test of relationship is facing hardships together.
Word 'together' is crucial here. What I see in both cases is that they eventually separate their ways because of lack of partnership and mutually taken decisions made by having real conversations. It's either her sacrificing her career or him sacrificing his life for family.
When he stays home alone, he's literally loosing everything. His parents are becoming absolutely dependent on him, love of his life is leaving him for the better life in a big city (and he doesn't even complain about it at the beginning, being her biggest supporter). This man has no place and time to rest. And all he ever wanted in his life was living peaceful life with love of his life by his side.
When she's sacrificing her dreams and career, she's becoming shadow of herself. Lack of fulfillment and being put down by her horrible mother-in-law will eventually make her miserable and extremely unhappy.
Their relationship, till this crisis, was shown as very close and affectionate.
I am still afraid that ML will be shown as this douchebag who would cheat on FL in every possible scenario and as much as I don't support this kind of behavior at all, I can see both of them drifting away from each other and looking for the feeling of warmth they're missing with somebody else.
There are two possible ways this relationship could work in the future: 1) Easier way: Separating their ways as partners and choosing friendship over loosing themselves and making each other unhappy. Live happily lives with people with the same life goals.
2) More time and energy consuming but beneficial for their relationship's survival way: Work hard. Sometimes, one person will have to put away their stuff for a while, other time the second one. When it's a part of agreement and includes the mutual support and respect, it can work. But it requires making their relationship a priority over egoistic needs and not letting other people inside their minds to mingle with the relationship.
It's hard for me to see her high school sweetheart becoming that kind of person...? It looks more for me like…
I've just noticed there is a THIRD guy on the posters for the drama...? Like, what? I will give it a try since it's 'only' 20 eps and looks like those will be released within a few days or so. Hopefully, they will not make Liu Xueyi dirty again, because I'm literally craving for the dramas he will not be 'the pain in the a**' type of character. I started watching because of him
Question about her BF after ep2, spoiler below. Some questions to people who watched more episodes
It's hard for me to see her high school sweetheart becoming that kind of person...?
It looks more for me like an implemented idea of small-town relationship she heard from her coworker friend.
I get it, people change but WTF, they've been together FOR YEARS, including friendship as kids. He was always there for her, respecting both her and her decisions. First time we see him breaking that rule is when he's running after the bus to stop her from going to Shanghai. He was willing to go there with her even if it wasn't really his life goal.
Are both storylines part of her imagination and the final decision wasn't really made yet in reality? Right now it looks like it for me.
I am a little bit confused and still wondering if I should watch the next episodes. Should she choose the big city life because she will eventually find true love with rich CEO who will share her ambitions? Now it looks like her life in small city will eventually become garbage. Tbh her life didn't appear to me that bad? It's just the future part which looks horrible? Grass is always greener on the other side of the fence. That glamorous big-city life may not be that amazing as you imagine.
I would like to see them having their own business with the friend which was on the dinner and stay in hometown. Like, as the 3rd possibility
I want to warch this but the fact its 40 episodes scares me a little.
Same here, for contemporary drama it feels like it's gonna drag at some point. I'm coming back here to comment section since the day of ep1 premiere and still trying to decide if I should give it a try
