THIS WAS MY ISSUE WITH HIM TOO. I was like, 'are you fucking serious right now' when he just 'well, you don't…
That’s exactly what I was thinking! I don’t understand the hate he’s getting right now for his actions. He’s hurt but doesn’t want her to be hurt either. Pushing his affection towards her would feel wrong. He asked her all of those questions to check before his next decisions and the answers he got made him think that’s just the friendship she’s got for him.
He had a hard time to realize his feelings too and he’s been pushed to the corner by his parents. They literally told him “you marry that girl or our family will end up like Hua’s”. He knows he can’t make Shaoyao love him the way he loves her and doesn’t have time to wait either.
Keep in mind he doesn’t consider her “special” the way everyone else does. He hoped she’s having those romantic feelings for him but the moment she compared him to her brother and Hua Zhi all of those hopes disappeared. That’s also the first time he took into the consideration she may not be exactly the way he is. Keep in mind he also had this talk with her brother the other day, he was so excited to hear she likes him. But as promised he would not want to hurt her.
I do think Shaoyao is sharing his feelings. Last scenes of the ep31 are making it more and more clear. I hope this situation will make him more responsible and thoughtful regarding the future. I don’t want to look at him marry that girl for family’s sake 😔
“So, I subscribed to the app for 2.99€. The question is, how much do the last two episodes, 11 and 12, cost?”
Express packages on Youku require additional fee. I've done that with Legend of ShenLi lately, I think it was 5 or 8 USD? Not 100% sure, but something like that. There were (I think) 7 episodes included in that Express Package. For 2 episodes it may be less money to pay.
Additionally, it was allowed to watch it on iPad/smartphone, not the browser/pc as it was only available in Youku apps (as I found out, this practice exists to avoid the copyright violation and stop people from sharing the content via non-official sites).
I think HYT is actually overall a pretty decent actor I just really detest his styling in this show. These cold,…
The romance drama you're mentioning may be The Handsome Siblings (which is also on my plan-to-watch list). I will check My Roommate is Detective out too, thanks!
Also, it's good to have some feedback from mandarin-speaking people, it adds the value, thank you for that :) As for Cheng Yi I noticed that he's been also dubbed by voice actors occasionally. I remember my confusion when I first started watching cdramas because I didn't get it why it's all dubbed but when I deep dived into the topic I grew to appreciate both: actors which are dubbing themselves and the voice actors behind our favorite characters.

This! I think I need to check out more dramas with HYT now as I was definitely underestimating him.
It’s possible he’s been typecasted a little bit, because most of his roles are this aloof type of guy but it’s the first time I see some depth is in his portrayal of Yunxi.
Is he using his own voice? I mean, a lot of young actors are dubbed by voice actors so it’s even more impressive!
After watching the ep25, not really spoilers, more the appreciation post:
I’m here to appreciate the pacing of this drama. I’ve already had few moments when I thought “ok, we get there so one or two boring episodes are about to air” and each time I’m simply surprised, because it’s not happening 😅
Same for the romance. It’s not the main focus of the drama, but I appreciate every small moment and scene they have together. There are no misunderstandings (so far!), they communicate in a healthy manner. The chemistry is also sooo good. Cute and mature at the same time. One thing I’m worried about is that we will not get enough of the screen time for the 2nd and (possibly?) 3rd couple.
I had some doubts about Hu Yi Tan as ML, but I was absolutely wrong. He’s handling this character very well. You have no doubts that Yanxi is a very gentle and thoughtful person but he had to create this scary and cold image to survive in his family.
Zhang Jing Yi’s acting doesn’t even require any comments but I will say it again - she’s the brightest part of this drama. She’s a very good actress and beautiful woman. I simply can’t imagine anyone else casted as Hua Zhi.
So far, so good! This drama may be the biggest hidden gem of the year for me ❤️ Picked it up randomly, fell in love with it.
Chris Chiu is portraying Qian so well. I also think I understand him on some level and it's making his acting even more emotional to me.
Qian is a person who buried his own emotions so deep that he ended up completely detached. It's a survival instinct. You're focusing on material well-being first to survive. Letting emotions in would break you and make you suffer even more.
It's not about the survival anymore, but internal walls built through so many years are not easy to break. Emotions accumulate and seek the place to vent. Qian, emotionally, is still that teenager who was fighting every day.
I don't think he's scared of what people would think about their relationship. He's scared of emotions themself. Letting anyone inside. Yuan is so open and direct that it scares the shit out of Qian. He doesn't know how to react, he's constantly trying to still control his emotions. But slowly this method is failing him.
I can feel through my screen how he's constantly on the edge. Previously, he was fighting when feeling uncomfortable. It's changed, now he's just freezing or not reacting but through his eyes you see that emotions buzzing making him even more confused.
For me it's the story about finding the safety in your life.
Yuan from the moment he accepted Qian's help as a kid knew - that's my save haven. But Qian was always refusing to rely on other people. As soon as he will deep down understand that Yuan is that person for him and feel safe, he will also open up about his feelings.
I agree, he wanted to scare her, checking her reaction to this version of himself and how she’s gonna self-defend. He would never harm her in any way, that’s for sure.
But she’s not the girl who’s easily manipulated, she saw through him immediately and took control of the situation. I am sure now that I absolutely love Hua Zhi as FL
I got to that point almost two years ago and gave up on Thai BLs. The last one I found watchable was Moonlight…
But ofc if you don’t feel like watching it - I get it.
I am just giving you a little insight I didn’t get from anyone back then so I avoided it longer than I wish I did 😅 The supernatural stuff is usually something I find unnecessary in BL dramas, those usually follow the similar tropes and feel kinda tacky to me. I Feel You Linger In The Air became my big exception ❤️

IFYLITA is an amazing BL drama which also gives you the opportunity to explore Thailand and its culture from 100 years ago.
The chemistry, costumes, cinematography are top notch. We are also witnessing the problems people were facing back then.
It may take you 2 or 3 episodes to really get into it but as a person who was also avoiding it for a while for the same reasons, I can confess - it ended up being one of my favorites.
It has some factor which makes this drama somehow different from most of Thai BLs. Kinda epic love story vibe. Well written love story.
